The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

I dont see the point of stanning a super talented group if their songs suck

Kpop was never about talent anyway, sure its impressive when they make good stuff by themselves and totally worth stanning but when its not pleasing at all whats the point? They may be the best dancers, vocals or rappers, but the final product that embodies everything >>> talent, charisma or whatever

I hated no mercy. If I had watched no mercy when it was airing in 2014 I wouldn‘t be stanning MONSTA X right now...

I think if you want to know more about the MX members watching no mercy helps but otherwise that survival show was just really shitty and i still dont know what starship ent. and mnet were trying to achieve.

The trainees who are now members of MX seemed unlikable. Shownu and Kihyun had this weird rivalry, like who is the best vocal n shit. Jooheon is my ult but in no mercy he seemed arrogant and kind of reminded me of sharpay from high school musical. He didnt seem like someone who wants to work in a team. Wonho, hyungwon and minhyuk were the "untalented visuals"...

but the dumbest thing that starship and mnet did was to suddenly throw another trainee in... in one of the last episodes...

Obviously the other trainees were not thrilled to see a new guy and i gotta admit if i was one of the other guys back then i wouldnt have liked i.m either. In the end one of the most liked trainees didnt even get into the group... no mercy was really shady survival show.

Same. It was a disturbing show imo, I hated how they humiliated the trainees so often, like when they told Minhyuk he won his round just to play with his emotions when he actually had lost. Hyungwon also got a lot of hate after their debut, so many people said he didn't deserved it in comparison to other trainees. I'm not even going to talk about what they did to I.M. Its something that affected the group and the fandom as well. Fuck that show. Its incredible that despite everything, MX have one of these rare formations with a hell of a chemistry between all members.

But lmfao that comparison of Jooheon as Sharpay, its actually accurate esp when we remember that blonde dude who followed her everywhere, reminds me of his friendship with #gun. The treatment #gun had is worth noticing too, he was very likeable but almost everyone, especially Mad Clown, kept pulling his skills down and comparing him to JH.

Most of time bad moments are better than moments when nothing happens (notice that I didnt said when good things happen). The things that happened to me that made me sad ended up making me realize what is wrong and what should I do to fix it. Or when something happens and makes me angry, this anger gives me extra energy so nothing else can bother me. Meanwhile, when nothing happens it just feels like I'm playing dumb til something disappointing happens.

I think that the bad, the evil, the chaos, whatever you call, is very underrated. They're necessary. Nothing new can come without the destruction of the old. There's REALLY good things that come from the bad, just like the saying, ex malo bonum.

Just like you can't learn math or a language til you make a lot of mistakes. Just like you have to feel pain in order to gain bigger muscles. Or when food taste better when we're hungry.

Society should stop acting as if the negative things are to be feared and the worst that can happen. Because you can't have ying without yang.

If everything is blue, then nothing is blue, get what I'm saying? If everything is fine, then nothing is fine.

I wish everyone would respect and treat the negative side just like we do with the positive side, because they're just two sides of the same coin. And doesn't make any sense to worship only one side of it.

I'm starting to hate this idea from fandom culture, that is used a lot especially between kpop fans, that we have to know everything about our faves and follow every single thing they're doing.Thats why (and here comes the very unpopular opinion) I wish that we had a limited content from kpop groups: not something extremely limited, just cut the excess, so it wouldnt be exactly limited. I mean, I got into my ubg because of their music and personalities, but idk what diference knowing their blood type will make in my life.

I think it harms kpop more than help. Sure, fans need to feel attached to a group so they'll invest on them instead of simply downloading their music illegally on internet, but there's nothing wrong about not following these countless v-lives or not knowing where your bias was born; a bit of mystery is great. You can see the problem when someone says "I want to get into them but there's just so much content". And I swear kpop is the only fandom where this happens! And that's why I hate when companies exploit this to no-end.

I mean, you have to have a LOT of free time to follow a group entirely, but most of us don't have this time. We have to study, work, and when we get a time for ourselves, we start to wonder if that rare time we could do something different is worth wasting on a specific thing. I would love to follow all their steps and not miss a thing, but God, I have a life too.

But when we dont follow them, there's this guilty feeling that we're not fans enough, but we are, otherwise we wouldnt even feel guilty about not doing something that goes against our will. Its kinda like a brainwash, I guess the same type of brainwash that make us fight against other people we just met for other people we havent even met yet.

I honestly think that if kpop companies started seeing the fans as mature people, and that big part of the consumers are actually adults (at least the westerners), instead of a bunch of kids with a lot of free time on their hands, and started valuing the quality/concepts that made it popular worldwide instead of all the pressure not just on fans but also on idols (like having to avoid any scandal for example) kpop would be a looot more popular and bigger than it is nowadays.

The fandom culture of kpop itself is why non-kpop-fans dont take kpop as a whole seriously, which is sad, because there's awesome music and concepts from this genre and the great personalities/visuals are (or should be) just a bonus. Stuff like Red Light or The 7th Sense is too mature for most kpop fans so I find sad there's people who ignore songs like these exactly because it's kpop.

I can understand the complain if it comes from someone who enjoyed their previous sound, but I don't get why complain about a group's music if you have never liked it anyway. It's like when a pop music listener complains about metal music. Or an alternative music listener complains about mainstream music. And vice-versa. I'm ok with it, a little controversy is always interesting, but the more I think about it, it doesn't make any sense. Fans will keep loving it anyway and see/hear what critics can't.

She's probably at bottom now, but I wish that Melanie Martinez start releasing more music again. I'm sorry but Carousel is my jam. That revelation was ugly, it destroyed her reputation, maybe even permanently, but damn her music had nothing to do with it, and it still is so good :c

I mean, if people really want her gone then at least tell me where I'll find another masterpiece like

Thx

EXO-M heart attack >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> EXO-K heart attack

Lay and Luhan's voice and tone fits PERFECTLY the chill vibe of Heart Attack, and Tao and Kris' deep voices are way less agressive than Kai, Sehun and Chanyeol in the K version, and fit better Heart Attack as well.

Tbh, its just sad that most people ignore exom discography and only listen to exok, bc a lot of exo songs sound better in mandarin with the chinese members, especially the ballads, like Baby Don't Cry. Playboy is another example, even though KrisLu had already left and Ksoo sang on it. But yeah, a lot of ExoM songs are better than the korean versions, and its only an unpopular opinion bc people tend to skip straight to the Exo-K discography.

Downgraded ver

Superior ver

Ass: a fact

I really dont like embed twitter links here on OH. I wish that people who post this stuff would just adapt the original post, like what was said and the pics, to an original one, and give the credit and original link at the end of it. I cant see these embedded links when I'm on mobile and they crash my browser when I try to see it on phone. Not just that but it also loads way more stuff than the necessary, when it could be loading only directly from OH. I really dont like it

Johnny Depp is (was) without a doubt one of the most good looking men on this planet, and although I admire his stunning visual in the 90's/00s movies, I particularly never found any sex appeal on him. His looks and personality are attractive, but he never made me think "omg he's so hot" or smth.

I see no problem about the *hep hap* concept from kpop groups. They just take all that is good about hip hop and make it more pop-ish. Plus they exclude all the mumbling and put great vocals in the middle. Why should I hate it? It really puzzles me when someone talk about "hep hap concept" in a depreciative way, to mock it. If you dont like it, just move and go find something else that pleases you. May I remind you, talking shit about something wont make what you like seem any greater.

SMNGG better be girl crush... Kpop needs desesperately more girl crush ggs since fx is inactive, 2ne1 disbanded, blackpink only have 5 songs, the other two girl crush ggs are from the same company, and all the rest that try it are nugus that end up disbanding bc of budget problems or bad management.

Is it so difficult for users to use the specific threads instead of ranting or commenting about youtube here, sometimes with not even an opinion at all? If we should just post anything then what's the point of the name of this thread? Why the random thought, appreciation and rant thread exist and are pinned in the random section if we're all using the unpopular opinion thread for this kind of random stuff?

Dont get me wrong I love to read the replies, as long as they are unusual OPINIONS, not complaining or appreciating smth. Thats the point of this thread.

Some were great, some were ok, but Limitless was the best kpop song by a boy group in these past 5 years. That song really is a masterpiece, its fucking brilliant, really amazing song. When you listen to it, you can tell that the producers were enjoying the process way more than worrying about what the public would think about it. That song is just, wow. I think NCT is really lucky to have it in their discography.
