it’s perfectly ok to wish for talent to win over charms and you don’t have to kill every single argument by quickly adding how iD0lS aRENt sUPpoSED to Be TaLenTeD siNCe wHen wAs P0p ABoUt TaLent - some consider it inconsistent and condescending to expect less from idols. And if you honestly think all Asian idols are untalented well then... maybe google *bigotry of low expectations* followed by *Airi Suzuki live*? I’m not saying you HAVE to choose objectively talented participants. But respect those who are judging based on high expectations of performance.

So I guess we can put this crazy delusion about how kpop has to be mainstream and basic with as little talent and vocal power as possible to be truly successful to rest now finally huh

 

You stan whoever you want and I don’t care if RV never supersedes your favs in numbers, but think again next time you wanna make some sweeping declaration, downplaying the abilities and expectations of ALL groups and idols in kpop, thanks.

what currently makes gana superior over kanji for me personally isn't because the former has better stage performances or better music, it's because it's currently more exciting watching them all together. that's NOT kanji's fault and it certainly isn't techi's. she's being purposely focused on due to management decisions and as much as it's strengthening the keyaki brand, imo it's weakening their output. they should have more confidence that techi will still shine regardless of whether she's 90% of the screen time, bc she WILL. that's the power of techi, but that's also the power of kanji! anyways ambivalent is still probably one of my fav songs by them ever.

so lemme get this straight - criticising group A is simply *constructive*, perhaps bc the group in question is known to be overall very talented, so the standards appear to be higher for them? is that why y'all are making painstaking attempts to comment on how much they smile, or synchronicity?  

 

but criticising group B is immediately just dismissed as *jealousy*, supposedly bc that group isn't known to be particularly talented? which leads me to conclude that it's only considered jealousy bc there's not much else to criticise, bc the standard is lower? 

 

and the latter doesn't strike the fandom as incredibly condescending???

i do think LOONA has something special going... if their innovative concept was applied on a group from a more well known company, stans would be creaming their pants but bc the company isn't and the group doesn't get the immediate exposure of other companies who rely on their company stans to carry the group to gp relevance, people seem to dismiss them altogether. which i think is a shame tbh, the girls are really impressive.

let's go over this again: stage presence is nothing to brag about. it's literally the minimal requirement of a performer. it's the participation award of talents. strippers have stage presence. teachers have stage presence. politicians. motivational speakers. hr managers. of course it's important - it's essential. but it's the building block of a performer, and it doesn't determine success any more than it necessarily determines star quality. all idols who are successful have it - not all idols who have it are successful. if that's all you can muster when comparing your favs to others, well then i feel bad for them bc you're basically only attributing them with the lowest possible expectation of excellence.

i wish there were more armexols here... the ones i see are really cool and if you think about it, since the groups don't have genre in common much, there's no real reason for the fandoms to hate on each other (tho i don't see much conflict anymore thank god). i don't listen to bts as much as exo personally, but they both put out quality music.

i really don't think GO is that bad...  it gets me super hype - no it's def not as good as WE GO UP and it doesn't seem to fit the storyline all too well but the song itself isn't complete shite

I honestly don’t give a shit how Chanyeol compares to rappers with better flow and rhythm, even the arguably superior idol rappers of nct - like I love his voice and rhythm and what he does with the bars he’s given. It’s like he invented pop rap? Or smt? Like it works with the melodic flow of exo’s music so well

don't know how unpopular this is tbh, but here goes

 

out of all bg deliveries this year, nct dream has really slapped themselves into the big leagues. they've shown consistent growth and sky high potential, and carry themselves as more than a mere unit by reputation. we go up is such a fucking bop i can't even begin to talk about it - it's a soty for me.
