The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

I still can't stand the superiority that some KPop girl group fans have over KPop boy group fans. At least in JPop idol scene, the girl group fans won't dare to even think they are superior than JPop boy group fans. Each know this is just a hobby. We don't try to judge each other's side. It's only in KPop scene it seems where fellow KPop idols fans try to build this sense of superiority over the others because they like girl group instead of boy group. It's only in KPop scene it seems where they try to shame female for liking boy groups while they themselves go crazy over girl groups. Get on with the program: KPop girl groups fans are equal to KPop boy groups fans: The Good, The Bad, The Weird.

Please call out these rabid fanboys just like you call out the rabid fangirls instead of only focusing and praising the security guard for doing something he didn't have to do if the fanboys have been behaving nicely (Thank you for the job well done Mr. security guards & managers.)

If people really appreciate hardwork, they would listened & watched more of less popular groups' works (the 'nugus' as they called it) because these groups most likely have to work equally hard if not harder than groups coming from established companies because they dont have as big resources, networks, nor media exposure as the big companies.

The number of sales that your idol groups have, the charting power that your idol groups have, the number of fans that your idol groups have, the number of followers that your idol groups have, the number of subscribers that your idol groups have, All of these does not mean you are superior that other people. All of these does not mean you can act like a jerk to other people. I know world can be unfair, where richer people, smarter people, handsomer/prettier people are often treated better than others, but this is the wrong thing, everyone should be treated equally in the world, no matter how many money they have, how popular they are, how smart they are, how pretty or handsome they are. Stop using KPop as a tool to treat others badly just because that is what you see or experienced in the real world. You are much better than this. You are much better than them. For the real jerks out there, just pity them. That is all they need and deserved. Pity.

All Gayo stages should have been collaborations between different idols from different groups with no single idol singing their own group songs. Maybe then the shows will be about unity of KPop fans and of KPop fans together enjoying and celebrating the year end and the changing of year as well as the progress and achievements that each idols and fans have achieved and experienced throughout the year instead of another worthless competition on insignificant numbers and order of performances that don't and won't have any impact on your life nor the idols.

NU'EST (JR, Baekho, Minhyun, & Ren) going into Produce 101 is not something to be ashamed of and not something they should be made ashamed of. They did everything they can to achieve success in the field that they have chosen even if it's mean going back again to the basic and re-learning things again. They erased their ego, their pride, just so that they can make their hope & dreams a reality with everything they have. Someone who has never given everything they have in their life to achieve their dreams, despite "nuguness", despite people saying that they should just gave up, should just shut up.

Be careful of people who accuses others of the things that they do themselves. You wouldn't believe how brave & loud they can be when they actually are the ones who act immorally in the first place. It's scary to know that there are people that live without conscience but still you have to believe that light is always there & will always be there. Hold on to the right things no matter what.

I do not listen to fans who think their favorite idols are perfect but criticize other idols for being imperfect or less than perfect in simple actions. It's not like you yourself have seen your idols in their entirety of daily life off-camera. It's possible that the idols you like are even worse in their daily life than the idols you criticized. It's quite possible that the appearances of your idols in front of the camera has been carefully crafted and vetted to make sure that none of their weaknesses show in front of the camera especially considering much of their popularity is built on their image. But still I appreciate the concern to make sure that the idols I liked improve and be a better person than the idols you liked.

It's ironic when someone does not want to be generalized but easily generalize others. The difference I think lies in the mental maturity of someone. (Saying this as someone who also still needs lots maturing)

---

It's fine to call someone Kings, Queens, etc. But treating someone like a being holier than you because you like him/her/them are unhealthy both for the person as well as yourself. One's imagination can flies as high as possible, but one's feet should always stay grounded.

Delusional oppalogists = Delusional girlgroupsmembers/dongsaeng-logists. The fact of the matters is just like boygroups fans can never be really sure who their oppa really is, girlgroups fans also can never be really sure who their favourite girlgroup member really is. Just like cute pure-looking boys can have nasty personality behind the scene, cute pure-looking girls can have nasty personality behind the scene too. I hope fans can remind each others on the trap of celebrity delusions instead of putting each other down.

I hate that there are people that are trying to commercialize fangirls. I hate that there are fangirls that don't think wisely when spending their or their parents' money. I hate that there are companies that make use of some fangirls' obsession to sell subpar products with high prices. Fanboys like to act like they are smarter than fangirls but they've been buying subpar products with high prices too but since they have bigger salary than fangirls, I couldn't say I am really bothered by that.

This victim mentality some KPop fans try to put upon themselves or the groups they like just has to stop. Isn't success, efforts, & persistence to pursue or support what you believe or like despite opposition of others is enough?

I love music but I don't like boring music. Popular music can be boring, experimental indie music can be boring.

Edit: classical however is not boring for me because there are dynamics inside and one single song can contain diverse emotions on something like changing seasons. Ballad too can be interesting when it displays the depth & intensity of emotions especially through the singers' vocals.

Although USA is the biggest music market in the world but their top artists still need the money from other people around the world including Asian countries because their lifestyle is expensive. In some cases, it is understandable because these singers bring world class music that is worth the money to watch, but in some cases I hope people are not blinded with the sparkles & corporate push.

---

Japan quite possibly has one of the most advanced technology for world-class stage performances but I don't think the growth of their local music quite catch up with this. I think this is because travelling the world and meeting diverse kind of people & culture & learning what current music people around the world like, what kind of beats are currently popular around the world, can help you to grow your music to a higher level. I believe US musicians are in the front row of music progress because the country is quite possibly the most diverse/multicultural country in the world.

I appreciate intelligent assessments on the songs or the albums that the groups I like put out, even if it's not as good as my assessments. It's like a bittersweet chocolate. Although sweet one is nice, bitter chocolate tastes nice too & it's even good for your health. Mocking sales or charting is another issue altogether though. I don't really care since I don't tied my identity on the achievements of these groups although I will be sad if it'd affect their future comebacks but how pitiful can a person or a group of people can be to mock a person's or a group's sales or charts especially when these people mocking have zero sales and charts achievements as an artists/singers/idols themselves?

The real "angel" fandom if there ever is would never bragged about their "angel" status because an angel don't go around telling people they are angel, they simply do good things. The only fandoms that thinks they are an "angel" fandom & go around telling people they are one are one that closes their eyes to the bad things that part of their fandom do and/or (later) try to silence/deny others when they speak out on the bad things that part of their fandom do.

Most society has different standards between young girls & young boys. When young girls acting foolish most of the time they are blamed but when young boys (& sometimes even old boys) acting foolish they are said "boys will be boys". If people want this "boys will be boys" to remain then I sure hope one day we can also try to understand young girls with "girls will be girls".

People including Kpop fans who shared their real information such as real name, real age, and real birthday in their twitter account to continue the tweet-chains from their twitter friends, make me feel concerned. What fandom(s) they belong to, what group that bring them first into Kpop, etc still make sense but real personal information in my opinion do not make sense to be easily and purposefully shared on a public social network.

I think plenty of fans have become more mature and knowledgeable in recent years on what are within their rights as a consumers of K-Pop and what are beyond the lines between fans and idols. I can see the fans (and their parents if the fans is underage) becoming smarter and more conscious consumers of K-Pop idols and music in recent years. Sometimes I think some K-Pop idols and some K-Pop antis are the ones that are still living in the past or in a bubble thinking that the world of the fans still revolve only around the idols.
