The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

Recommended Posts

So, is this the tamer Bashing Thread? Lol, I wish I knew about it before.

  • For me, Amber's On My Own and Need To Be Needed beats everything that Luna released so far.
  • While doing SNSD's Discography rate, I realized how Mr Mr is really their best mini album to date. And it got so much hate.
  • EX'ACT was a big downgrade from EXODUS, I am so disappointed, man. Also, they should stop giving them overproduced songs with a lot of random rap-talking parts because they ruin the flawless discography EXO had so far. Also, I don't consider Heaven as good of a song as other EXO-Ls say.
  • Song wise Monster is better, but I prefer Lucky one performances.
  • 4walls album is riding Pink Tape and Red Light's albums fame, it wasn't nearly as good as them.
  • I think Shinee guys don't have appealing voices. That's why I couldn't get into them.
  • I can't believe I am saying this myself because I never was interested in them, but AOA's album was one of the best releases this year.
  • Red Velvet's One Of These Nights is a good song. Be Natural has an awesome concept and dance, one of my favorites Red Velvet comebacks.
  • I prefer L.I.E to all EXID's post Wiare songs.

Here we go:

  • El Dorado choreography is boring, the only exciting part of the performance is the lightsaber dance at the final.
  • Heaven is a beautiful song, but I feel like EXO's voices sound too rough for it. The same could be said for SNSD's Talk Talk.
  • The video practice for Monster hurts me eye. Who thought using that filter was a good idea?
  • As much as I dislike the lyrics and concept of Hello Bitches, the beat is dope.
  • Dope is my leave favorite title track of BTS. Fire>>Dope.
  • I prefer Song Jieun solos to Hyosung's solos.
  • JYP's Who's Your Mama is a fun song.
  • Color Ring>Empty
  • I'd rather have a SJJD comeback or other solos. SNSD is fun, but music wise, SJJD, TTS and solo's have better music.

I want to stan performers. I don't give a shit that my bias just got an acting role! Get your ass back on stage!

I agree with this so much.

I'd rather watch my bias perform for 10 minutes than watch them act for 10 minutes per episode in a drama I don't care about.

That's why I felt a little iffy when I heard Baekhyun will go into acting. I mean, I was happy for him and I'll probably give Moon Lovers a chance because of all the fuss and the occasional fun shots I've seen, but I would have been way happier if he just stuck to singing. I'd like to see him singing OSTs, seeking music collaborations, going on music related shows and promote himself as a singer rather than exhaust himself over some screen time as a secondary character in a drama. I know it's more profitable to be an actor, but still.

i really love the song heights by amber. i would love to see her perform it live :)

I actually like a lot of Amber's songs.

Heights, Love Run, Beautiful, On My Own, Goodbye Summer (I like f(x) version more, but still it was composed by her).

She is low-key one of my favorite soloists in SM.

She doesn't steal the spotlight from anyone, I don't know why people bash her so much. I personally like how she tries to improve her composition skills and shows so much interest in doing music.

I don't hate on BlackPink members and I might sound like an hypocrite because I am a fan of some SM idols that had a lot of company hype too, but the popularity they have right off the bait puts me off. They released two singles and get a Perfect All Kill the next hours, it feels like celebrity was served to them. And the fact that they did that with barely any promotions on music shows and variety doesn't help it.

I don't like Taeyeon collaborations with R&B artists.

I know how happy some Taeyeon fans were about her collaboration with Crush and how they take pride in how well the song charted. The song is ok, but Taeyeon had like 2 lines by herself. So much fuss for something I can't even get myself to call a feature. And I don't think we can give much credit to Taeyeon for the song's charting either.

Also, her collab with Dean. From the start I thought Starlight is a dull and boring song. But the more I listened to it, the more I realized Dean's voice drags it down a lot. He sings the song like he sings one of his RnB songs, it doesn't match with the mid-tempo pop song like Starlight. He is supposed to be in love and scream it at the top of his lugs, but he turns out too linear and lacks the right emotion. Even in the MV, he felt expressionless. The slow pacing action and those dull colors didn’t help the song feel more lively and just made it worse.

Both collabs were major disappointments. I don't get the hype at all.

I liked SNSD performing Dancing Queen. I heard a lot of people not liking it, but I loved the retro concept, it was colorful and not as cringey as some of their other cute songs.

This gotta be one of their best stages ever, even if they had I Got A Boy outfits. It was so fun and they all looked happy, it fits them so well.

Even Taeyeon's cover of it was really lovely:

Also, I like this particular stage of Lucky Girl way better than all Russian Roulette ones:

I couldn't hear more than 2 sec of that CBX teaser medley thing. Shit. Shit shit. I want to like it so bad. I have to like it. It's just too... pop? Does that make any sense? URGH. Don't be awful CBX. Please.

I was underwhelmed by that CBX mendly too. I really liked the preview of Hey Mama, but the rest failed to catch my attention. It sounded like cute EXO stuff, which I generally like, but I wouldn't want an album full of that either.

We have one of the best and most versatile vocalists in EXO, where are the killer ballads? Or the RnB? Or some slower songs in general? I know it's a mini, but everything sounded way too linear and similar.

I hope I'll be wrong and like the songs, tho.

  • The choreography for Playing with Fire is awkward, especially those excessive arm movements. It doesn't match the song (I really liked the song btw, their comeback was so much better to me than their debut).
  • Big Bang's concept and songs become very predictable over time, they don't feel fresh anymore.
  • I liked the songs Brave Sound composed for 4minute like 'What's your name?' and 'What's poppin'?'. I never got the hype over Crazy.
  • Seems like SM is going to give Kai a solo dance + breakdown with Sehun for SBS Gayo. I know that he is the best dancer, I know. But isn't it too much? He's already the center of the group and gets a lot of lines for his level of singing skills. There are members that deserve more spotlight (and I say this as a Baekhyun fangirl).

girls-generatios-stylist-accused-of-plag

  • I thought these outfits were really pretty when I first saw them. The plagiarism scandal tho.  :derp:

  • I really appreciate Baek's effort to have abs. He went on some extreme diet for them. But really, this isn't attractive and necessary. I'd rather see him healthy looking.

  • I don't know how, but I always end up liking Dahyun and Chaeyoung's part the most. They are far more bearable than Sana and Momo. And yes, I find Dahyun entertaining.

i-fans have lower standards for girl groups than boy groups, both personality and talent wise. you'll see the exact same people who stan visual centered girl groups with no outstanding talents or music integrity shit on boy groups who have outstanding singers and members that actually write and compose songs lol. i have absolutely no problem with stanning only for the visuals or catchy music regardless of the talent behind it but the hypocrisy is appalling.

as for the personality bit, it is just hilarious when fans of, say, Taeyeon, act like she's too good to dtae Leeteuk because of a sexist remark he said a million year ago and apologized for publicly. are we all supposed to forget Taeyeon's own faults and act like she's a flawless saint too good for any flawed man just because she is a good looking woman? i am sorry to break it to some of you but feminism doesn't mean giving women a pass when they mess up. holding women responsible for their own actions like the sane adults they are supposed to be is more like it but i-fans version of feminism has always been more along the lines of "don't touch my unnir!!!1111!!!"  yet only oppa fangirls are stupid and problematic

i think the problem with Hyoyeon isn't exactly her ability but her ugly tone.

I am sorry but are you really going to downplay the amount of shit Taeyeon gets for her personality on daily basis? Maybe even more shit than Leeteuk does? The only difference is that she has enough fans who defend her.

And there's no secret, Taeyeon's fans are cocky and look down on all Taeyeon's boyfriends. Except of Junsu, but my guess is that he's just not very known to the younger fans.

In their eyes, no one is ever good enough for her. Unless it is some young, popular, good looking, flawless image actor or a CEO that baths in money.

She dated other idols, because that's what she is too. Even if she is more popular than a lot of them, that's her roots. I don't even image her dating a young, popular, good looking, flawless image actor. She doesn't seem to like very serious guys, she likes guys with weird and perverted humor just like her, maybe she even likes the relatable problems of idol lives.

I thought Baekhyun was just right for her personality. They were compatible even in their unlikable aspects. But unfortunately, this is a bloody unpopular opinion in my fandom.

Why did SM believe is a good idea to move the release date from Wendsday to Monday?

Wendsday was perfect. The song would have been released and immediately next days I would watch the performances.

But when songs are released on Monday I often lose the hype until they perform in music shows, especially if it's a song that was so so at first listen. A performance would have helped.

Or maybe I am just not patient enough?

I don't like Eunji's vocal color. She is fine when singing with Apink, but as a solo her deep voice stands out and this is not my cup of tea.

The only title song I was really impressed with when it comes to IU was 23 because it was clever and a bold choice from her. Chatshire was fine as well. But I still don't get the hype over her old material. And Through the night WAS safe and sounded like Shower from her last album.

Taeyeon is my fave. But her voice got nasal these years. I don't know if this is the correct term, but she doesn't sound as smooth as she used to and it's disturbing sometimes. She should do something about it.

She should stop promoting break-up songs her a while. Fine was her 3rd and the MV was pretty much a B version of 11:11. It's getting tiring.

ALSO. At Sketchbook Taeyeon hinted that she doesn't release her lyrics because she wants to keep private and leave the past behind.

I am sorry but this so stupid of her. A lot of people interpret songs lyrics as the singer's personal matter, I do it too sometimes, so I get her point why it can be annoying. But people will be talking anyway, having self composed songs are such a media-play and she holds herself back because she is afraid people will say it's for Baekhyun or someone else? It's silly from her part. If she has something good, then she should release it, wtf?

Talking about Baekhyun. I am happy he has a solo now. Hopefully he will put up some good material. Something less...boring. Out of all the EXO members who released stations, he stood out the least.

If he really wants to release a ballad, I hope he will chose a better one. The day had some lovely vocals but it wasn't memorable.

And I keep my word that he didn't match Soyou at all.

And about Suzy. I liked her songs tbh and I like her vocal color too. But her low voice in the beginning of Yes No Maybe is really bad.

She could have been successful, we all know she had the potential. But really...how in the world does want to succeed when she does nothing to promote herself as a singer? After she released the songs she went right back to filming. Does she really believe being a singer is something she can be successful as a side job? She should put more work to it.

Don't misunderstand me, guys, I like EXO and my bias is Baekhyun.

But why the stuff EXO releases in Japan look and sound so tacky?

I see people here reaction positively to CBX concept photos. But I thought they looked low quality and awkward.

Then the song names are so cringe-worthy. Ka-ching, Diamand Crystal, Girls problems. What the hell?

Signal is much more listenable than the Unnie's song and PSY's songs

I come here to say something similar. I don't get the hype over Unnie's song, I couldn't even finish it at the first listen. I don't find it noticeably better than Twice's, either. But I guess people are going to keep on overrating it as a way to bash Twice.

I don't hate Shindong and Leeteuk. They had their moments, it's true, but people give them too much shit for nothing.

I don't care about Armyz and their Twitter posts. Everytime I open bashing thread is as if Armys are some kind of celebrities. They are not that important. It's people who here who give them more importance than necessarily.

Tzuyu is often the Twice member who catches my eyes the least.

She seems to be a nice, down-to-Earth girl, she is as beautiful as everyone says, she just doesn't have that spark, that thing that makes me go 'Yes! I can see why she is the most popular member!'.

She is a decent singer and dancer, but I don't notice her much during their stages. She doesn't seem to be very interesting on variety either.

If something, I see Sana having more star potential, since she seems to know how to play for the camera.

Idk but i feel like ppl exaggerate Taeyeon's PS procedure. They're acting like she's unrecognizable lol

Also her nose job doesn't really bother me as opposite to others it's the fact that she cut the inner corner of her eyes that does.

When she is not caked in make-up and has casual wear she doesn't even look that different. I wonder if those fans who say they don't recognize her anymore are even fans to begin with. Like, seriously now!

Also I wonder if those people who poke fun at Taeyeon's appareance look at their bias before writing these things...I am pretty sure even the most natural looking idols had touch ups here and there.

Single handing Taeyeon in a industry which is known for how frequent plastic surgery is just shows how hard people are trying to hate on her.

Nayeon reminds me so much of Tiffany. It's because they both have this fake smile when performing.

I appreciate that they put the effort to look happy on stage for the performance and for their fans, but their smile is one of the most ungenuine I've ever seen.

I hate contemporary dance.

Me too, most of the time. It can be really beautiful when done right. But it is hard to find the emotion and the dance and the styling for everything to work perfectly and actually tell a story.

Contemporary dances I've seen in Kpop left me pretty much unimpressed. Most of them look like a bunch of dramatic expressions with no substance. Or just an attempt to look sexy.

As much as I wanted to like Baekhyun's solo dances in Monster, I just couldn't. I always skip Kai's Deep Breath solo before Overdose performance. I just couldn't get into it.
