The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

I'm bloody grateful for new music from BSB and Dido. Like, I hate 90% of today's music. What do we have now? Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Drake. Wake me up when this generation ends!

The new film on Robert Bruce is actually pretty good. Why the hell are people going on about Pine's 'dazzling penis' when they could actually praise the direction and acting?!

The awful 'straight history' versions of important LGBTQ persons and incidents has to stop. Rami Malek had a great performance and the other actors did good, but the film-reels shouldn't even be used as toilet paper.

Anyone notice how it seems all of the Kapoor khandan was just waiting for Sridevi to die?

Like, before they had cremated her, we had effing Arjun Kapoor - who just kept apart with his sister from even associating with his father, even obliquely admitted to blaming him and Sri both for causing his mother's death - going to help in smoothing over the handover of her body! And just days after the funeral we have smiling pictures of her own girls! Now, they're pushing publicly how close the family is, how the siblings get on so well - so many photos of the siblings together, so many comments in mags and tv...I'm starting to think that the gossip about Sri being murdered was true.

This is a really unpopular opinion - Dreamcatcher are overrated. AJ praised the hell out of them but they're just another Loona i.e. mediocre group inexplicably hyped by Western stans because concept. I even watched performances but they're painfully average in dance and stage presence both. Songs I won't talk about because that schtick is just not my thing.

The way some fans shriek about how their bias is their "son", a "baby" and how they must never be seen in a sexual way is so creepy. These people have like reverse-Lolita obsession (like ABDL fetish or something). Especially some of the girls saying they are "mom" towards guys older than them in age...Ew!

Stans of ggs do that too - how all men are gross and boys should be stopped from considering their faves sexual beings.

Do these people understand that it is normal for a species which has sexual reproduction to find good-looking members of the opposite sex "sexually" attractive? (Or for homosexuals to consider good-looking people of their own gender to be sexy?) That even asexuals may find someone "hot"? You cannot stop this feeling as much as King Canute could not stop the tide.

Don't pile on people unless they're writing abusive fantasies or 'sexualizing' underage people.

Not to mention, a number of idols enjoy presenting themselves as sexy and work hard and take pride in displaying their bodies. Like Hyuna, Hwasa, Wonho, Jay Park, Jaejoong etc. (It also doesn't make them sluts!)

Idols are adults too and they don't need nor want you infantilizing them!

Let them speak and portray themselves as they wish!

I think Sonakshi and Parineeti are better than Alia by miles.

Bhumi looked better when she had more weight. Her head looks humongous nowadays.

Ayushman Khurana is so much better than Rajkumar Rao. And neither are anything compared to Manoj Bajpai and KK.

I don't understand why (some) NCTzens think insulting my fave boygroups or others would make me stan NCT? I think my faves are better songwriters, better singers, better dancers and chockful of visuals. And, moreover - I like them!

And Yasmin, IMO NCT has only four visuals - Taeyong, Ten, Jaehyun, Haechan.

Am I the only ones who enjoys stupid hate comments about groups/idols I like? People on pann/twitter/alcopop going full bitchy aunty "look at that bitch eating crackers" where you can just taste their frustrated tears makes me giggle. The takedowns, slapbacks, memes - I love it all. Gods know, I don't want kpop-fandoms to become peaceful. May the hair-pulling, cheek-scratching over-wrought teen wars continue!

I really want a healthy-sexy comeback from a boygroup. I miss 2PM's glory days like crazy - and ShowWon or Kai notwithstanding, there's no full boygroup which has managed the manly, confident and upfront about their attractiveness image. I would kill for another 10 on 10 rather than all these first love/man-angst stuff. There's a real gap in the market right now, and I'm certain such a boygroup will immediately get both K-fandom and international popularity.

There's too much expectations from SMNGG - SMstans are looking at them to be a SNSD+Exo hybrid and get to top at one go, pinning all hope on them. I think, even if they turn out to be good, just the unrealistic range of imaginations pinned on them would make them seem disappointing in comparison.

Stop gassing up your faves to a level where the comparison humiliates them. Like seriously, unless you're an anti please don't compare BP to the Beatles.

Also fans should criticise their bias if they do wrong or don't perform satisfactorily - you're a fan, somebody who appreciates their body of creative work, not their mom. Stop living in delusion, or vicariously through a stranger.

Naga Chaitanya and his wife Samantha are like the opposite of Amitabh-Jaya - terrible actor and slightly better wife buoyed by nepotism, compared to good actor and better wife making it on their steam.

Dulquer, Keerthy and Vijay Deverakonda washed Samantha out completely in Mahanati, so much that I was irritated when her scenes came out.

And same for Shruti Hassan - first her face is now a mess due to cosmetic procedures, and she is just so awkward and try-hard despite being in the industry for so long.

Just compare the two bits of acting of Naga Chaitanya and Shruthi to Sai Pallavi and Nivin Pauly:

(start 1.12)

(start 0.50)

Joseph Vijay has no personal magnetism. Given that I first saw him in Puli, so I'm prejudiced, but he's such a one trick pony and only does the most retrogade 70s style mass films - no substance, only cheap dialogues.

And I'm hating that Sonam is in The Zoya Factor - if only there was a Parineeti or even Sana or Sanya in it...Now I know she will make a screechy, cutesy mess of Zoya's character too I don't think I'll actually go see the film.

Right now, with how much projects fans do in an organized manner I cannot trust most of the charting records - youtube, billboard, itunes in many countries, twitter trends. There's barely any organic virality of any manner.

First, being from a so-called '3rd world' country, I cannot believe any sizeable bit of the population of other '3rd world' countries has itunes or spotify so that it points to an actual popularity among the general public.

Second, the abuse of vpn. Too many fans use proxy to make it appear they're from another country.

Third, every ardent fan has numerous accounts. And even korean chart passes. They get tips from within k-fandoms to bypass barriers to even korean-only voting.

Fourth, the time-bound aspect of real-time charts. If at any given gst period, the entire fandom organises to trend something, it shows up on worldwide and country charts. Even if actually only a few thousands tweeted or viewed. And then fans take screenshots and brag.

Five, only in kpop do I see the tendency to stream religiously, for hours, days, months on end. And that too on multiple devices. (But yes, now many western fandoms are taking that toxic behaviour on too).

Six, physicals and the modern era...In most markets, barring Japan, SK and I suppose a few East Asian countries, only a very few huge stars are selling physicals. Adele, Taylor Swift, and who? If groups are getting on the album charts at like #40 or something, just how many albums were bought? Or are those "unit equivalent" i.e. adding in dl and streams both?

Think, about Ariana and Kris' charting on billboard. And then, about Havana's charting in SK. Just compare.

I am not saying that fans shouldn't be proud of these achievements. You work hard to make these happen.

But just think, then, can that be really called the achievement/record made by your bias group?

I think the muddy NCT system has carried on for too long. (Is it a thing like AKB or not? Then give fans a say via elections).

Please SM, solidify it! Is 127 the Korean unit or not? Is U and Dream meant to be the main(or ballad?) and kids team which will be the only ones to have changing members all the time? What about SEA unit if Ten is in WayV?

Come clear! Lay things out in a concrete manner - which you won't change in a few weeks!

And, when Chenle, Renjun are older please don't add them to WayV. Find some other way - make a China junior unit or something.

Let WayV be as it is now. I think it looks cohesive. I may even become a fan, but first promise me no random member change or concept change.

YG, it is your company's USP that your groups are the average-looker made good by power of talent! The common gp looks to them as a triumph of hardwork in a looks-obsessed society. You just destroyed that well-built image by your own hands.

If it is a visual group you wanted to make for fangirl interest - why put in San-E lookalike Yedam? You should debut him solo or with Raesung - because in this group he stands out to his detriment.
