The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

Miyu is a cute girl but I feel like her fans overrate her a lot. Her arrangement skills are nice but nothing that blew me out of the water and truth be told her voice is limited in the fact that she has such unique vocals that she can easily sound bad with songs that aren't in her exact style (that jazzy, bossa nova style). Not to be crummy but I wasn't surprised hearing that she kinda of bombed The truth untold  stage because that song just doesn't suit her tone. I hope she makes the final group but I can honestly see her dropping out of the top 11 as more girls start getting more popular.

I feel like a lot of people take their anger for korean nationalist/anti japanese that hate the j-girls on pd48 out on the k-trainees and don't even realize it. There's this weird sentiment being subtly being pushed by the fandom that every single k-girl is being forced on us by anti Japanese higher ups while in reality the J-girls are all much popular than the k-girls but Mnet is trying hard to stop that popularity in it's tracks. While I do think Mnet doesn't want to end up in a group completely full of J-trainees I feel like ppl over do this theory to the point where it's ok to blatantly hate k-girls who didn't really do anything in defense of the underdog j-girls Like the hate that girls like Wonyoung, Ahn Yujin and Minju get is ridiculous when they haven't done anything remotely offensive to deserve it. And I've noticed that the only kgirls that get any positive discussion from the ifans are the ones that have had some positive interaction with j-girls. Like ppl are a lot more nice about Hyewon talent level as opposed to Minju's bc Hyewon is Minami's mom. Chaeyeon and her friendship with Sakura. Or the fact that ppl suddenly care about Haeyoon now bc she was seen being nice to Sakura/ wanting her on her concept eval team even tho she's been extremely talented and deserving of top  12 the whole show. Even some of the Minju hate was quelled just bc she was put on Sakura's team. Meanwhile the idea that Jo yuri and Goeun are strainy boring messes that don't deserve screen time  and yuri is being pushed by Mnet started the same week it was revealed Sakura was removed from their Reach to you team.

I also know that the j-girls get a lot of hate but the difference is ifans have the sense to never jump on their witchunts unlike with kgirl drama. I remember being lowkey grossed out at how a lot of people were way too eager and giddy at the downfall of Heo Yunjin and the prospect of Yujin losing popularity when their incidents happened. People were quick to see through Mnet's flop attempt to evil edit Miho but cheered on and downvoted all of BBY team 1 videos and branded them all as rude bitches and took joy from the being cut.

I think what's hard is that when I attempt to point this out I get branded as a anti Japanese  j-girls hating Wusple enthusiast even though I call out unfairness towards the J-girls too and never speak ill of any of them. But the fandom has created this weird divide where k-girl sympathy= j girl hate

Though I like exo's music I'm not excited for their comeback anymore because it's seems like it's shaping out to be a half -hearted money grab with no proper planning. I would rather them wait until they're all not as busy so the product can be some amazing ala the exodus/call me baby roll out, even if that means waiting until next year.

I don't get why some fans keep being so defense towards other groups/fandoms about this Grammy nod. Even though this nod is literally such a great starting point and an awesome honor/resume booster for huskyfox, I think there are ARMY who are legit embarrassed or upset and are compensating by lashing out at other groups and fandoms  with the whole "ur faves could absolutely never, stay worried about inkigayo " who aren't really even making a fuss

I hate that I'll sound like a second gen supremacists but sometimes I have to agree that 2nd gen was kind of on another level when it comes to stage presence and lives in comparison to 3rd gen. like looking at the sumni/seulgi/daehwi collab stage. Seulgi is considered one of the best when its comes to 3rd gen idols with stage presence, yet she got completely owned by Sunmi despite being both a better singer and dancer. And even if u wanna factor in that Sumni is older and has had more experience, comparing that Hush stage with 20 year old Suzy (who would have been younger than all the girls in that stage with roughly the same years of experience) she would have completely dominated. And Suzy wasn't even really known for her stage presence when it came to 2nd gen idols back in the day. Same with the kissing you stage. Idk why stage presence and charisma is so lacking in this gen.

The fact that some Americans refer to every group of Asian boys as BTS is racist. The only reason some ARMY defend it and excuse it is bc it also shows how well known BTS is with the GP and that's more important to a lot of them. Imagine if they asked if every stout Asian man was Psy?

Fancy is lowkey underwhelming and I feel like people are only hyping it up bc Twice's outfits have 'matured', not the actual music itself. At the same time, I feel like people have always over exaggerated how 'childish' Twice's music is. Their music is fine by kpop standards, people were just being extra

Some kpop fans will kick and scream about people who aren't into kpop, or people who've have tried it, and said it wasn't their thing...but then turn around and brag on the fact that they haven't paid attention to or cared for Western music in years because it's boring and all the same. Why is it ok for them to write off all of Western music, but then they throw a fit when someone says they don't care about kpop?

I think seeing the reaction to Winner's comeback/promotions verses the constant hate BP got during theirs is proof that their was a lot more disdain for BP themselves fueling that negativity surrounding them than the "we hate YG not BP" crowd would like to admit.
