The top actors/actresses of South Korea really do look better than the top idols. Fans are constantly surrounded by fan-taken, photshopped pics of their faves everyday (+ that effect of: the more you look at someone, the prettier they become), whereas their only means of looking at actors/actresses is through screen-caps or photoshoots that have no guarantee of good styling. Put idols on a drama, though, and actors/actresses really do end up looking better than them (ex: Park Shinhye's and Kim Jiwon's faces >>> Krystal's).

I'm not even sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but

Moon Lovers OST set >>>> DOTS OST set

I'm loving every OST that's come out of Moon Lovers. The lineup is just solid, and each song is just so different, fitting many different themes. DOTS is good too, but some of the ballads were a little underwhelming, that Moon Lovers just had to replace it as my favorite drama OST set this year (or the year prior, for that matter).

I don't think that Tzuyu's clothing is that bad, honestly. It's fashion that teens wear. Kpop fans fussing over it remind me of those annoying teachers in high school who'd overreact and start shaming when their students decide to show some skin out of an interest in fashion.

Boy group fans have no reason to make the k-public out to be a disappointment for not listening to boy groups. The foremost reason of why we, as fans, check our faves' music out is because we are appealed by the fantasy that they're selling. The visual concepts are pleasing to the eyes. The constructed personas cater to our idealizations. As a result, we consume their music. It isn't the public's fault if they don't buy into the gimmick that works on us.

Everytime an attitude scandal first hits the news, i-netz be like: what's the big deal? So much controversy for so little an issue.

Once 10/20k+ translated knetz comments are read (which are barely different from the ones i netz had been reading), i-netz are suddenly like: wtf were these celebrities thinking?? Disgusting, problematic people!

Once the scandal finally dies down with everyone to witness the aftermath, inetz blame knetz like: knetz are at fault, poor celebrities, *proceeds to write at what might as well be a tragic attempt at describing Korea's sociocultural mindset*

Happened to T-ARA, GsD, IU, and is happening to W1.

There is a reason why I think modern Western feminism is a disease for Western women.

#1 reason: it makes women miserable. Had I been younger and more impressionable with more ideological parents, I would have had myself believe that society was always going to be unfair to me and that I was never going to receive what I was properly due while others did. Getting a career in STEM? Forget it, as I will be looked down on. I'll be forever paranoid about my position. This is why Western feminists are so miserable and bitter. I dislike it because of how it makes women feel and how it prevents them from achievement, it feeds on these feelings. A vicious cycle where the more miserable she is, he bigger it willl become and the more women it'll influence. Feminists are almost relieved to know that sexism is practiced in particular families or businesses, because they see it as their purpose, such incidents fulfill them. The more sexism, the better. This mindset is repulsive. But it goes against their values, the more seixsm, the worse they'll feel at work. Hence the cognitive dissonance, they aren't at peace, mentally.

#2 reason is relatively minor compared to the first but this because it glorifies a life of corporate slavery over having a family. Fact is, most jobs aren't dream jobs: they are average office jobs. Ambitious careers are in the minority for both men and women. So instead of raising kids (a tough job, yea, but something old people hardly ever regret and are often proud of doing) your dream is to make more money for your CEO? (Lots of old people regret spending more time with work than with family). Lol.

#3 is that it is morally self-centered with respect to human history. Gender roles were a practical measure in times of war and manual labour. Any matriarchal societies that there were would have been outcompeted by the patriarchal ones. Civilizations learned from this and adopted patriarchy.

I really don't get the fuss re: the separation of kids from parents, in lieu of the recent issue plaguing the US.

Generally, when a parent commits a crime, he or she is separated from his or her family. If it were a single parent detained, his or her child will be relocated someplace else. It is a given. This isn't even unique to illegal immigrants. This goes for every crime, in every country around the world.

Now, you can argue about the morality behind the conditions under which they are placed afterward, I suppose, but it's mind-boggling how the news of the actual separation itself manages to evoke these reactions from people.

I am coming to the realization that strong defenders of ideologies and movements are those who haven't done enough self-reflecting to discover their own personal values. Kinda like how people who don't know how to seek out information tend to rely on institutions to provide it to them. Could be any sort of information, like medical, or home purchase, etc.

I don't believe that everyone is good. But I do believe that no one is without values. Everyone wants these values (which they view to be good) fulfilled.  Because one hasn't reflected and is lacking in self-awareness, one can only rely on what these ''ethical institutions'' have to offer, to define what is good to them. Having a strong sense of personal values can better protect you from ideological influence compared to a strong sense of logic. Like how having a good sense for what is good or bad information can protect you from flimsy studies.

When a guy feels as though his masculinity is being threatened people call it "fragile masculinity" (term that is nothing more than ideological neologism).

Honestly I've observed a female version i.e "fragile femininity" - when women cry, throw a fit, or even starve whenever someone comments on their being fat (lacking in a feminine figure). Same with getting plastic surgery to look pretty. But apparently people dub this as "victimization" and say "oh it's so sad that she's insecure over herself".

The term in and of itself is dumb. But the behaviors are really counterparts of one another. I just have a problem with people carlessly using one and being wholly blind to the other. The bias people have is so strong here.

'Tis true that I get on the nerves of left-wingers here. Tho honestly, I browse multiple forums (this is the only kpop one) and left wingers in those sites are well capable of rationalizing their views. The social science clubs in my uni are well tempered and sensible in their views as well.

OneHallyu in comparison heavily invests an emotional bias in whatever it is they are trying to fight for. These are just people completely unaware of themselves and their true motivations. I've grown weary of having to get back. It's not the views that are the problem here - these can easily be achieved rationally. The problem is the manner at which people arrive at them, in which case OH slips into dogma. Honestly, this community really is hopeless.

I don't think Sulli killed herself because of hate comments. She handled hate well, and I honestly don't think she gave much of a fuck, at least not most of the time - she only expressed having been hurt by the pregnancy rumors. Otherwise, she literally did what she wanted, a free spirit, wanting to live her life on her terms. She already had an attempt back in 2016. Whatever demons she had may trace themselves back to her childhood.
