The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

As much as I love jimin's angelic voice etc etc honestly exo's vocalists (and even sub-vocalists) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BTS's.

It just looks really funny and delulu when armies are coming at exo's vocalists skills (or Kai's dancing skills). Like you can say the tone isn't your cup of tea but...come on.

I'm not sure how unpopular this is, but as much as i might like a song from any given group, if they don't have at least one strong vocalist, something feels missing. I blame SM and Suju because of how amazing KRY's vocals are, and how SM did a really good job layering the background vocals in their songs, and how distinct their vocals are from each other, but still go together very well.

People say that it doesn't matter if a group doesn't have strong vocalists as long as their music is good, but to me, when I listen to a good song with weak vocalists, I just imagine how much better it could have been if it was sang by better singers.

When I read what people were saying about Boss I thought it would be a colossal mess but it's really not?? Like SM has put out way more disjointed songs this doesn't even count.

The MV is kinda bland though especially in comparison to 7th Sense which remains the best NCT title track.

Most of the time I find songs on the Melon top 10 / high ranking one soooooo boring. Like I try to listen to the Melon top 100 playlist to see what's going on and it's all so meh. I'm glad idols exist to add some spice because you can only enjoy so much ballads and single-note acoustic r&b whatever songs before it's too much.

There's so much shit to criticize about SM as a company and in terms of management etc etc but few things I believe:

1. SM idols are some of the most scrutinized and criticized and irrationally bashed idols in the industry. Others can do anything and everything but the same thing done by an SM idol sticks with them forever.

2. The music SM puts out has consistently been some of the best in the industry, but anytime they try something new people are so quick to criticize, only for their favs to follow similar trends afterwards.

3. Despite all the shit that SM is and has been, their idols have the most longevity in kpop and there's something to be said about that. They are shit to their idols in certain ways and fans have every right to complain, but no other company has managed to consistently have groups that promote for so long, even post enlistment etc.

4. SM idols aren't just successful because they're from SM, as evident by the fact that SM idols don't just hit big as soon as they debut, but they build their popularity over years like any other group might.

I'm not even an SM stan I only like 1 group from SM but I think it's ridiculous the way people speak about SM and also the ridiculously unfair standards for SM idols sometimes.

People here keep saying Twitter is so toxic etc etc as if this place isn't just as toxic and terrible. Twitter is more than fine if you know who to follow and don't go looking for drama. But there are some really sick and petty and messed up people on here as well.

Here's an unpopular opinion: despite BTS massive success in numbers and statistics, and the undeniable new records they've set, it still feels that something remains missing at home. Namely the fact that they don't have a single song that left a deep cultural impact and became a breakthrough phenomenon. They don't have a Bang Bang Bang, or a Growl, or a Sorry Sorry, or to bring it closer to today, a love scenario. They don't have that one hit song that was a massive breakthrough, that even people who don't know BTS would know. And that makes their popularity feel different or almost lacking in comparison to their peers at home.

I really don't understand how the majority of exols think and why they're so impatient about exo's comeback. We really have not been starving at all even in terms of music and nevermind other content. I really want to see a comeback as well but at the same time I don't want them coming back while they also have 5000 other individual schedules. Kyungsoo is still filming and Junmyeon has that musical, not to mention Dot in both Seoul and Macau, as well as other SM Town concerts and other schedules.

I understand that many people are in college/school so it's not ideal with the beginning of a new semester but I don't want them to comeback when they're half dead and too busy to be there for all their schedules.

The only reason people are killing themselves over this is because they want to be able to compete in year end awards, and I couldn't care less about that.

The only reason people are saying exo hasn't accomplished much this year is because their accomplishments and break througs weren't in America. If this was anyone else's favs, they'd be hyping this up to hell and back, as one should.

Also, Baekhyun is the most well rounded currently active idol. What can he NOT do really.

I don't think SM is as bad of an agency/company as people make them out to be. They could be miles better, but people act like they're the absolute worst devils and that's not it.

Also...uh.. companies main goal is profit. They'd be non-profits otherwise.

I'm honestly quite glad exo is completely out when it comes to the whole YT views / likes records like I really couldn't give a fuck and all these fandoms fighting about that really even western fandoms fighting with kpop fandoms over YT views and whatever..... I'm really happy exo isn't even in the competition for this mess.

Most of the time when fans are fighting and share videos of their faves "hitting those highnotes" they end up sharing some really cringy and terrible shit, and there are usually much better videos to share, but people are so obsessed with shrieking that they call high notes.
