The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

(lol this should really be a reply to another thread but this is also apparently an unpopular opinion so)

i think wendy is underrated, and no not underrated as in unpopular, but actually underestimated. idk if it's just me and my paranoid ass but i feel like a lot of people just think she is a 'good' singer and not literally one of the best gg main vocals right now. honestly if you randomly survey kpop fans or the korean public on who the best new gen gg main vocal is, they will probably name other people (not going to drop any names . anw not that i have anything against them, just stating an observation) and apparently some people think her voice isn't powerful/strong when it literally.....is.......so yes. she is underrated.

certain sm group fandom is showing signs of becoming just like another sm group fandom......which is a negative comparison btw. lol how ironic it is that both fandoms aren't too fond of each other when they are SO similar

this is unpopular among i-fans apparently but honestly if you are not going to do shit to support your fave you shouldn't call yourself a fan. i'm not saying you have to bulk buy 50 albums or spam votes bc that's excessive but there's rly some fans out there thinking gassing their faves up on twitter counts as support. then they complain when their faves flop??? bitch what did you expect??? so many groups out there struggling to break even and it's because majority (not all) of their shitty fans won't be bothered to lift a finger to support them. i can understand if you have certain constraints but otherwise, if you love your ult the mostest as you like to say 10 times a day on twitter, please do something to show it and not just act shocked when they sell 2 albums. chinese and korean fans may be borderline insane sometimes but they are the ones making sure their faves get fed lmaoo

maybe because it's i'm biased, but i don't understand when people imply that only kai/baekhyun/both have stage presence in exo. xiumin (who is always excluded from dance line for whatever reason) and arguably chen and kyungsoo stand out to me as well, except that they get little screentime so it's not obvious lmao

first few years (maybe around 3?) are so important, not just for the group itself but for individual members because it basically decides their popularity for the rest of their career. it's sort of cumulative, after those few years, no matter how much certain members stand out in a particular comeback, it's always the same few popular members who 1) remain the most popular 2) gain new fans cause new fans checking out the group will basically be "directed" to those popular members and stan them cause their fans keep hyping them up. seriously name one group where a member's popularity suddenly rose after the first three/four years. this is definitely not shade to any popular idols, just an observation and highlighting the importance of company pushing members in the first few years

i always see exols and reveluvs complaining about how sm is pushing nct in the west when they could be pushing exo and rv there instead but.........why? that was the same justification for that silly bbmas voting, "to give them more exposure in the west". it's a waste of time, kpop will never be truly big BIG there and for exo at least, at this point in their careers they should be focusing on their indiv careers. as for rv, if not for the whole china situation, sm should have looked into pushing them in china, irene is already one of the most popular female k-idols there. if anything sm should have promoted them properly in japan but now we end up with both groups basically being nugu there. i for one am happy enough that they decided on nct as their guinea pig. leave america, the country that can't tell them apart from bts despite not having the same damn number of members, to them
