The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

Kwon Eunbi is a great leader. She's super caring towards her members, she's passionate af and has a lot of initiative, she's humble as she shared her center parts to her teammates, the girls look up to her and she even served as an inspiration for Chaewon to take the leadership role in her own group. But ofc we are going to ignore all of this and say she sucks b/c of an error of judgement she committed during a mission as she tried to follow the mentors advice.

"Cube is trying to ruin (G)I-dle", the whole ethnic concept was Soyeon's idea though. And now the same people are trying to bring Hyona situation into this to make a point when some of us know their decision to come out had a negative impact on Pentagon. If anything, seems like Cube's mistake has been giving their artists too much power.

I don't think Cube is mistreating CLC (or at least not as much as people make it seem). Maybe because I've been fan of groups who have had it so much worse, like Brave Girls or UNI.T. Even Pristin has it worse.

CLC's comebacks are always high-budget, the songs are always good, there's no favoritism in the line distribution, and for a group that debuted in 2015 and hasn't hit big yet, the amount of comebacks they've had is pretty good. April, DIA and Oh My Girl (who debuted in 2015 as well) have almost the same amount of single/albums as CLC (or even less than CLC). And OMG and DIA sell 3x more, yet Cube keeps investing on CLC.

I do think they are being mismanaged, but mistreated? Not really.

I'm sorry but Haeyoon's vocals were so overrated in PD48, her voice was so unpleasant to the ear cause girl was really nasal and straining 80% of the time, and had little to no support whatsoever. But people will probably keep overrating her vocals now that she debuted.

One of the things that bothers me the most is misinformation, and kpop twt and Youtube stans are #1 experts in spreading every little thing they see like wildfire w/o checking their facts first. It is true that Cube has commited some HUGE ASS mistakes in CLC's management. However, some of the hate they've been receiving has been completely baseless and unnecessary.

Apparently, some people don't know that Cube's CEO changed at the end of 2016, after 4M and B2ST mess and right before Hobgoblin. And it's frustrating that some CLC fans insist in seeing everything under a negative light and saying they will disband, even after the huge promo they've been receiving lately.

Some people keep saying the only reason Cube is investing on CLC is because Hyuna left and they need to make money out of them cause they're desperate, when in reality:

1) Cube was already investing A LOT in CLC, getting them good promo and expensive outfits ever since Black Dress, and even moved them to a better and bigger apartment in that year.

2) Cube was never, even remotely in financial danger after Hyuna's departure as BTOB has been their breadwinner for the past 3 to 4 years. Even Pentagon and G(I)-dle were making more money for Cube than Hyuna.

3) The real reason why Cube is going all out for this comeback is bc they're trying to compensate it for the one-year hiatus.

There's a lot more I would like to say, but I'll leave it like that...

IZ*ONE's Yena is severely underappreciated (at least among international fans). Girl is a variety genius, talented (lead vocal, lead dancer, main rapper), hard-working (says things like she will give her 100% even if just one fan shows up) and has a truly inspirational story/background, yet she's so terribly overlooked.

I personally don't care about fandoms nor I care to defend them, why would I? so I don't really care about negative generalizations and the bad reps my own fandoms get. Most of them are toxic (some more than others), so I simply don't associate with them. Just the fact that some people try to argue with stuff like "but a lot of [insert fandom] believe so" or lose their mind because you think differently than the majority, just proves that fandoms are echo chambers, and people who highly associate with them lack individuality.

I'm 14935 years late, but The Happening is a good movie, the only odd aspect of it was the acting, but people overreacted. The premise is genius and until now I still get chills whenever I hear the wind. M. Night Shyamalan still remains as one of my fave directors, he has made some awesome films just to get stigmatized for a few 'bad' ones.

Cube is not mistreating CLC, the new management has been really changing the game. Could it be better? Absolutely. But Cheshires gotta stop nitpicking and blowing every little thing the girls say or post out of proportion and twisting their meaning (I could easily debunk more than half of the rumors they've been spreading, and I'm not even a "company" stan to be "defending" them). It's almost like they are obsessed on looking for evidence to prove that they're being mistreated. You would think they're getting the Sonamoo treatment for how loud they are on Twitter, but no, the girls got 3 amazing cbs this year and there's a full album on the way. The lack of perspective is utterly impressive.

The Joker is overrated, like seriously. I'm not even the type that goes against the "popular opinion" to seem cool. But this movie was truly a sloppy attempt to turn a "superhero" movie into "art" cinema. The film is technically flawless and the acting is superb, I'll give it that. But the script is so... meh? The way the message was delivered was so shallow and in-your-face, and sorry but I found the character of the Joker so mediocre and without an ounce of charisma, all I could felt was pity towards him (quite the opposite of what the Joker was supposed to be). And yes, I know that this is supposed to be his origins, but it's hard to believe that a mediocre man like him would turn out to be later a dangerous and clever criminal (even if it's not the "real" Joker, there's still barely anything interesting or unique about him, aside from his rare condition). Maybe it's something subjective, but passive characters just don't work for me.

hate hate HATE HATE all those people who keep using these news again to shit on kpop. YES, the industry is fucked up, but this isn't just about KPOP, this happens ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the whole world. IT's Korean society what needs to change as a whole.

I wish international fans would appreciate Wonyoung a bit more. Girl is so young yet she has really great control over her facial expressions already, good stage presence, and she's a pretty decent dancer. For me she's the best center IZ*ONE could have ever had.

And honestly, their company hasn't sexualized her in any way and has done a pretty good job in making sure the underage members don't wear any revealing clothes or perform inappropriate choreos.

I have nothing against Dreamcatcher, I think they have some great songs, great choreos and are very good performers, Scream is perhaps my fave song of the year. But honestly, I don't know why and when people started to overrate their vocal line and putting them beside Mamamoo and Taeyeon, I don't think Siyeon can even support (or maybe she can, but it's probably the average supporting range of most kpop main vocals). Also in terms of vocals Yoohyeon > Siyeon.
