I have to write a movie synopsis as an assignment for English class. Which genre should I choose?

The only genre I'm interested in is romance, but I don't think it would be a smart choice to choose romance because I have to answer why I think this is "an important or interesting topic". I can't say that "this is the only genre I like" or "I'm a hopeless romantic girl", right?

For that reason, should I choose other genre like horror, murder, comedy, etc...?

I'm not asking you guy to help me write it, I just have some problems with choosing genre... xD

Edit: sorry guys, what I wrote is not clear enough. The thing is, I need to write my own synopsis with my own storyline, not writing one based on a movie haha

I don't think I can be much of help. I just want to share something. I wrote a synopsis about the movie Volcano during high school and I was pretty fast at it. It was easy to summarize because I didn't have to go into too much detail. I just briefly narrated every important event in the movie and then I was done.

romance can be a total bland if u write a cliche love story, sometimes i write romance with a bit of fantasy

or maybe u should go with horror or murder genre if u have a lot of ideas

just make interesting storyline good luck

Actually, it's all based on what you like as well. Which genre do you find your interest in?

I personally suggest you do a synopsis about mystery genre. I did it back then and it was fun. I could talk a lot about suspense factors with my professors. The movie I did for the essay was Panic Room.

how many marks does this carry? does it have any impact at all on your grades?

if yes, pick something you know you can do well, as well as something that will impress your teacher. if you go for a classic like lord of the flies or something a bit off-the-centre like watership down, you'll catch their attention and earn their respect.

if it doesn't affect your final grade, well, HAVE FUN! be experimental, do whatever you like!
