when will the #flopgroup

seriously... he's achieved more in one year by leaving the group that cannot be named in 3 years.

the group will be stuck in a entertainment industry that is stagnant and has no space for growth.

good luck being on music shows for 10+ years and calling that a career

I guess people have different ideas and benchmarkers for success. Personally, I think Kris made the right decision as he's able to do what he loves, make a lot of money and work in a decent environment without risking his health and life for the sake of entitled fangirls. The Chinese industry is much bigger than the Korean industry and not nearly as saturated. There was a lot of room for SM to do well, but I mean, it's not like they lost out or anything. Their groups are still able to win a lot of music shows and they're bigger than other idols (look how well RV are doing compared to some other rookie girl groups). I guess it all just depends on how you view success really.

Is the guitar that small or are his hands just THAT big?

Both, lol.

Also, can people NOT use this thread to attack EXO? I don't care for the group but there's no need to drag them into this.

CONGRATS :) he was my first bias in exo and still is one of mine

Im happy for him because i really hated seeing how he had

to behave a certain way that SM asked him to

"cold, cool quiet ice kind of guy" it made him seem so arrogant at times too

I'm just so glad he gets to be himself and is doing well

I will support him no matter what!

SM needs to realise and give others a chance in the chinese market too

he created the chinese sub-unit but didn't really give them much chance at all to do activities there

and im sure that is the reason why the opt out. At least now lay gets to do some promotion too

imagine if you were in another country and full-on promotions

and you couldn't really understand what people were saying.. how would you feel

Some people complain when EXO stans are bitter about WYF but then don't behave any better tbh.

It's not like EXO wasn't the starting point for him, so there's really no point in trying to erase that part from his career as if it didnt matter. When le left EXO, he was already huge, and that's what opened doors for him and let him multiply that success by 10x. If he had started from scratch and all by himself he wouldn't be were he is today. We can't even be sure he would be in China tbh... Maybe he would still be living in Canada, leading a normal life, if he hadn't auditioned for SM. Who knows.

But yes, going to China opened him doors to a whole new path. Besides, as you said, the Chinese market is less saturated. However, although that was best for him, please take note that this decision does not make him any better an artist/actor... There are excellent actors that never get famous roles and terrible actors that get huge roles just because they are popular/pretty (for example, Kristen Steward).  My point is that "successful career" is something quite subjective. Who is a more successful actor for example, someone who is in all the biggest blockbusters or someone who only has solid works in their curriculum? For example, would you say anyone from Fast and Furious is a very successful actor/actress or have a career you really admire? Although Natalie Portman doesn't have as many blockbusters in her curriculum as Nicole Kidman, I do think she has a more respectable career.... So career is not only about being huge and making lots of income.

(not saying the career path EXO is leading is any better than WYF tho. Just stating you shouldn't evaluate only from such measures. Besides even in Korea actors/actresses are widely more known than idols, so I don't think that's a fair comparison)

I think both WYF and EXO are leading quite successful careers up till this point in their respective fields and we do not know what the future holds for any of them; but I'm glad EXO continues on the music industry because that's what I love them for - for their music. And for many of them, music is also what drives them (be it dancing or singing). If it wasn't for Kris, that's okay. I'm happy he's following the path he always wanted. He's being able to gather more fans and he deserves it. But his choice having worked out doesn't mean other people's choices were any less respectable. Everyone's working hard in their own way.
