nÇ cháng guò de nà xiÄ“ tián tou / dÅu shì jì mò de guÇ’ shí
nà shì huó shÄ“ng shÄ“ng cóng xÄ«n tóu lÇ / gÄ“ xià de wÇ’

Those glimpses of sweetness that you had tasted were all fruits of loneliness.
They were me, cut raw from within the heart while it was still beating.

一å—肉åƒä¸€ä¸ªèµ å“ 从æ¥éƒ½ä¸å‡æ€ç´¢

yÄ« kuài ròu xiàng yÄ« gè zèng pÇn / cóng lái dÅu bù jiÇŽ sÄ« suÇ’
nÇ ruì lì / wÇ’ jiù xÄ«ng fÄ“ng xuè yÇ” / yáng yáng sÇŽ sÇŽ dÄng gè xiÄ› shÇ’u

A piece of flesh [is] like a complimentary gift; [we] never take the time to think before acting.
[if] you [act] cuttingly, then I'll wreak bloody carnage[1], become a writer and [let] the endless words pour forth.

è°å¯ç–‘ è°å¯æ€œ è°æ— è¾œ è°è‹Ÿæ´»
我已ç»çœ‹åˆ°æœ€åŽç»“æžœ

jiù ràng wÇ’ jÇn gÄ“n zhe nÇ / qÇ chéng zhuÇŽn hé
ràng wÇ’ wèi nÇ xiÄ› yÄ« bÄ›n / kÇ’ng bù xiÇŽo shuÅ
shéi kě yí / shéi kě lián / shéi wú gū / shéi gǒu huó
wÇ’ yÇ jÄ«ng kàn dào zuì hòu jié guÇ’

So then let me follow you closely [through] the phases of the narrative[2].
Let me write a horror novel for you.
Who's suspicious? Who's pitiful? Who's innocent? Who continues to subsist?
I have already seen the ultimate outcome.

##
åƒåˆ€ä¸‡å‰çš„感情 æ‰ç”ŸåЍ

jiù ràng wÇ’ lái dài tì nÇ / chéng xiÄn qÇ hòu
kè gÇ” míng xÄ«n xiàng yÄ« bÄ›n / qíng ài xiÇŽo shuÅ
yuè xuè liú / yuè shÇ’u suÄn / xÄ«n yuè kÅng / ròu yuè tòng
qiÄn dÄo wàn guÇŽ de gÇŽn qíng / cái shÄ“ng dòng

So then let me replace you in bridging what has happened and what is to come[3].
[it is] carved into the bones and engraved upon the heart, unforgettable, like a romance novel.
The more blood that flows, the sorer the hand. The emptier the heart, the more painful the flesh.
Only a love that hacks you to pieces makes for a vivid [tale].

ä¸è¦è¿˜ç»™æˆ‘ ä¸è¦è¿˜ç»™æˆ‘

bù yào huán gěi wǒ / bù yào huán gěi wǒ

Don't give [it] back to me. Don't give [it] back to me.

zài qù zhuÅ mÅ / dÅu tài chí le
shÇ’u xÄ«n ròu de qiÄn lián / zÇŽo yÇ méi yÇ’u yòng le
yÇŽn kàn shÄ« qù líng hún de kÅng ké
hún bù fù tÇ de liÇŽng gè rén

To try to make sense of things now, it's all too late.
What links together the flesh of [our] palms has long since become useless.
Look at the empty husks that have lost their souls,
Two people whose souls have separated from their bodies.

å†è½°çƒˆçš„æ•…
æ‰èƒ½çœ‹å¾—è¦æ»è¦æ´»

zài qù zhuó mò / dÅu tài duÅ le
zài hÅng liè de gù shì / dÅu suàn tài sú qì le
xiÄ› dào nÇŽ lÇ / néng gÄng hÇŽo jiù hÇŽo
cái néng kàn de yào sÇ yào huó

To describe things further in writing, it's all too much.
Even the most intense and explosive story will be too tacky.
At what point to stop writing? It'll be good so long as it's just enough.
That's how to leave [readers] desperate and kicking up a storm[4].

爱也è¦æ»è¦æ´»

ài yÄ› yào sÇ yào huó

Love is also a desperate, agonizing thing[4].

T/N:

[1] 腥风血雨 is literally "wind that carries the rank smell of flesh, rain of blood".

[2] èµ·æ‰¿è½¬åˆ is the East Asian equivalent of Freytag's pyramid (dramatic structure); see kishÅtengÅ/kishÅtenketsu. The narrative encompasses four phases: èµ· (qÇ) the introduction, 承 (chéng) the development, 转 (zhuÇŽn) the (plot) twist, and åˆ (hé) the denouement. For comparison, Freytag's pyramid describes the story arc in five phases (typically acts): exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution. This comes from Yuan Dynasty poet Fan Deji's description of poetic structure in 《诗格》: "作诗有四法:起è¦å¹³ 直,承è¦èˆ‚容,转è¦å˜åŒ–,åˆè¦æ¸Šæ°´ã€‚" and has since come to refer generally to the structure of any type of writing.

[3] 承先å¯åŽ is literally "to inherit the past, to inspire the future". It is related to the idiom 承上å¯ä¸‹ (note the same verbs but the replacement of "before"/"past" with "above" and "after"/"future" with "below"), which in turn relates back to èµ·æ‰¿è½¬åˆ and narrative development. It can be interpreted as "to receive and undertake the previous (text) and to initiate and draw out what comes after".

[4] è¦æ»è¦æ´» is literally "to want to die, to want to live". It describes frustration and desperation, great fussing but also great torment.
