Why do Sandaime J Soul Brothers and THE SECOND From EXILE have better songs than EXILE does currently?

EXILE is the most popular group which means their songs have to please the general public's taste = popish songs.

So if you like pop you'll like EXILE songs more. If you like R&B you'll like 3JSB and THE SECOND songs more~

GENE is a new group and their style appeals to younger crowd.

Yeah, this year singles were themed around the Tour / HIRO's graduation at the same time playing it safely for the general public. They've fallen into the paradigm of popularity and have to provide music as such.

I feel like ATSUSHI phrased it during one of his interviews where he felt EXILE now acts as an artist to inspire / motivate Japan, ever since the Emperor / Prime Minister and Cabinet watched them. So now they perform Rising Sun whenever they can.... T_T *possibly to also hide their links to the yakuza... lolz I kid*

And at the same time, the EXILE (phase 1) members marrying off and the upcoming EXILE TRIBE Perfect Year 2014 Campaign shows where their focus really is. *Ominous feeling coming up after 2014, merge coming up calling it now*

Well for me, 3JSB has always had better music currently. EXILE used to have really good music (still does but they aren't as experimental as they used to be).  After their album Ai Subeki Mirai e, the music that was release was different (public friendly).

I have to add JSB's 3rd album was a disappointment to me. It didn't have the same magic as their 2 previous albums. I haven't listen to it often as I have with their other albums. I think they are going to the same route as EXILE in releasing safe songs for the pleasing the general public.

I don't want another merger. And if they perform Rising Sun again...

I'm not including GENERATIONS because they don't really do anything for me.

Fuck you bitch, you know I stan for Mendy & Ryota

Anyway, as a new fan, I must say I agree with you when you say the other groups have been putting out better songs. I've listened to their best albums and they have some good material in their back catalogue that they kinda pulled away from.

Then again Im biased when it comes to anything involving Naoto, Naoki, Nesmith and Shokichi...them be my bitches.

Rising Sun is being performed to death they need a new theme song

and 3JSB has been great so I'm afraid if a merger happens then they'll have Exile's more pop sound too

If they perform it on Kohaku this year again...

SHOKICHI and NESMITH are wasted in EXILE as it is so imagine if 3JSB merges into EXILE. They'll get even less lines and what will become of Ryuji and Hiroomi? I know there's talk of ATSUSHI leaving soon but even still...
