WHY AM I SUCH A SUCKER FOR FRIENDZONE ROMANCES WHYYYY

the relationship between the leads is too adorable yo.

By the looks of the end of the last episode, we're veering into the classic kdrama "love triangle, poor communication, fighting over the girl, wrist-grabbing" tropes... wish the writers would avoid that.

Same. I usually drop dramas once they got too corny and slip into the usual kdrama tropes, so I really hope it doesn't come to that in this one. :'(

My thoughts on the characterization of the leads:
I think the writers were originally trying out the whole "my best friend, the player" story with Myeong Soo, but decided to tone him down to a guy who's just genuinely kind, helpful, playful, but oblivious to how his actions can be misinterpreted. Soo Jin is smart woman, so it would've been hard to see why someone with such a righteous personality would become friends with a guy who plays around. And by making Myeong Soo such a sincere individual, it makes their friendship sweeter and more meaningful. (And their falling out much more heartwrenching  :horror:
 ).

The movie director is such a dick!!!! But at the same time, I appreciate that he's such a sharp-shooter hahaha. I like that the show doesn't let the characters get away with the usual romance plotting hijinks because he's there to instantly call the three exes out when they're doing stupid shit. Not that I'm against the exes' plotting because without it, the plot wouldn't move forward... in fact, it's funnier when he's there to tear them down haha. And while he can act like a dick, I think he's simply a person with no patience for liars (aka the lion) or deception. So it's also refreshing to see a second male lead that isn't either completely helpless or completely villified, y'know?

ahhhhh, I've put my trust in you writers. Please don't let me down~~~

Don't get me wrong, I love Song Ji Hyo and enjoy this drama (just like I enjoyed Surplus Princess; screw you, tvN, I'm still bitter about that one), but maybe, just maybe, this is actually a good thing for this drama story-wise. The writers have been dragging out the story & going in circles in a few earlier episodes, imo, so that the story almost moved at a snail's pace. Maybe now we get the last few episodes without any filler & the story moving at a proper pace.

If it does end up like Surplus Princess, though, this will probably be the last tvN drama I watch while it airs; I have no interest in getting invested in another drama just to have it ruined by a rushed ending again.

I was surprised to find out that the episodes were cut (but after looking at the ratings, omg it was kinda getting slaughtered) but after thinking about it, you're right. The main couple getting together at the (supposed) halfway mark was kind of early; idk what they could've done for the next 8 episodes other than introduce a painfully drawn out or overdone love triangle.

Myungsoo and Soo In are like... disgustingly, revoltingly sweet with each other hahaha. Which I love right now, but could've gotten very old if the series were 16 episodes.

IN OTHER NEWS tho, omg I'm dying with the sweetness.   :ilove:  thank you dramas for cultivating unrealistic relationship expectations. Myungsoo and Jin Bae's interactions are hilarious. It's always funny seeing him interact with other guys - with Jin Bae, it's bro-like rough housing, and with the director... just lol.

Wasn't expecting the finance to become such a bitter hard ass. But... good for him I guess? He's not a pushover!!! I think even the 3 exes are surprised at how close they've become. It's nice to see.
