What Happened to Sweetune?

They stopped working with their most iconic group KARA because of Nicole and the other one, so there's less of their stuff in the spotlight because of that, at least.

Otherwise, they made Stellar's Marionette, Guilty and Mask.

they are still here but most of the big name artist ditched them so they mainly produce for nugu or not as popular groups suchs as

stellar,boyfriend,romeo,nicole

infinite is the only one that still kinda has maybe a chance that they could work with them but 9muses,kara have ditched them

I believe it was the other way with Kara: Sweetune refuse to work with them after Nicole left.

He wrote 3 songs; 1 for Infinite, 1 for Kara and 1 for Ninemuses.

Every year, he gives them different ver. of the same song.

And his songs are cheap retro. So Duble Sidekick, Black Eyed Pilson who can make better music combination are successful.

Yep. They sound exactly the same. :imstupid:

Y'know the funny thing is Brave Bros has been remaking the same damn songs for the past four years or so and yet people are still all over that shit, and yet Sweetune is at least more diverse with their sound than them but they get called "boring" and "repetitive"... let's keep talking about how this couldn't possibly be hypocrisy.

  • 1 year later...

Why do everybody seems to believe that "Marionette" specifically and other main Stellar songs were produced by Sweetune?? lol

It was composed by G-High and Lee Joo-Hyung. The only connection is the songwriter Song Soo-Yoon who indeed wrote on almost (if not all) of Sweetune productions.

As to where Sweetune are, it does seem like they've fallen off the face of K-Pop. New great composers and songwriters are emerging and the competition has been extremely reeaaal!! And several of them have been able to emulate the Sweetune sound whenever needed.

I'm talking more specifically about composers like:

- Double Sidekick ("Mamma Mia:) who had no trouble writing a "Kara" song for their notorious foursome comeback

- G-High ("Marionette") who got tons of people to think that their song was produced by Sweetune

- RoomMate ("Vibrato") who also bears the similar energy packed groovy 80's vibe as Sweetune. (Yup, Vibrato was not composed by them either)

- GDLO ("Sting") who's in my opinion a more laid back style than Sweetune but somewhat still in the same vein

It's not uncommon however, that producers take a step back to develop and essentially innovate their own style and later come back to slay. Some of them, though, are stuck and can't keep up with the changing landscape of mainstream music/kpop and I believe that's what happened to E-Tribe. Let's just hope Sweetune is back soon or else..
