My sister exposed Korean culture to me. I used to judge her before she got me into it as well lol.

Now I'm much more interested in it than she is orz.

I watched the aforementioned dramas and RM way before getting into kpop.

In fact, RM made me get into kpop because of the idol guests.

I didn't know any kpop idols when they guested, but now I know more than I'd like to admit.

I dropped running man and dramas because of school and only keep with kpop now.

Tell me your history!  :)

first heard about it via Shinhwa and H.O.T back in the early 00s, I liked some k-rock bands back then too. I was really into j-pop and j-rock mostly back then and they were by far more popular than Korean things at the time, but you did hear about Shinhwa and H.O.T occasionally.

I also liked BoA then but I didn't actually realise she was Korean til years later lol. I only knew about her Japanese releases. it was much harder to download music back then so I didn't know as big a variety of artists (in jpop or kpop) as I do now.

I didn't come back to kpop til 2012. before then I did know vaguely about it, mostly just SNSD, but I finally became an active fan when I got into Big Bang when they released Alive. then I became a cassie and it spiralled from there

first drama was You're Beautiful with Jang Geunsuk, Hongki from FT Island and Yonghwa from CNBLUE. it was ridiculous and amusing and it still has a place in my heart. I knew about Boys Over Flowers years ago (Japanese ver) but I wasn't able to actually watch it until recently bc the internet wasn't fast enough back in the day for me

I LOVE Secret Garden btw. it's still my favourite drama along with Rooftop Prince

I was a big anime nerd who liked Japanese music (and still am somewhat) and a friend of mine at a forum I was in got into Korean models, which somehow led to Korean idols. Eventually I heard Gee as it got quite big among the anime community for whatever reason and that was the first true exposure to K-Pop. Afterwards I got into Wonder Girls and Kara, 4Minute, mostly girl groups. A JRPG came out with BoA as the OP singer and I thought she was Japanese, it was quite a surprise to learn she was this mega K-Pop idol lol. I got into her music as well.

Boy groups took me a long while to like though. The first one I got into was 2PM, then DBSK. I was big into SM and JYP groups for the most part. YG groups took me a lot longer. 2NE1 is currently my bias girl group but I hated them for the longest time lol, they seemed so try-hard to me and same went for GD&TOP when they were promoting. I wasn't used to Korean Hip Hop, it seemed so weird to me. Eventually that went away and I learned to embrace that side of Korean music~

Movie-wise, it was Old Boy that got me into Korean movies. Its still the best one Ive seen. Drama-wise, Dream High started it for me. But variety shows I prefer more because idols tend to appear on those. Heroes, Oh My School, Happy Together, We Got Married, Strong Heart, Invincible Youth, shows like those~

First song was Gee, but I didn't listen to kpop right after that. I found f(x) months after and really liked their songs. My small kpop collection then just consisted of snsd, f(x), and t-ara.

I didn't get into boy groups until I found Bonamana wayyy later.

First dramas were BoF and the ramen shop one, idr the name.

First variety.... shinee hello baby?

My first Kpop song was Waiting by BoA. Although the first song I heard from her was Every Heart, since the version I listened to was Japanese and not Korean, I wouldn't call it Kpop. I didn't know BoA was Korean at the time until some time later. As for first Kdrama, it was You Are My Destiny starring Yoona from SNSD. At the time, I didn't know she was from SNSD since I wasn't into Kpop that much at the time (the only artist I paid attention to was BoA), so I thought she was just an actress. And finally, I guess the currently airing Sixteen would be my first variety since I've never watched variety shows before.

I started with DBSK, my first song was Mirotic. I started getting into 2PM in late 2009, when they were promoting Heartbeat, and after the controversy surrounding Jay officially not a part of 2PM, the fan conference, the sasaeng rumors, I had a few moments of wavering but ultimately I loved rooting for 2PM because it was like rooting for the underdog. I've been a fan ever since, and I'm so happy with where they're at <3

My first kpop song was SNSD Gee. Some girls from a japanese school came to our school for an exchange program and they danced to gee during our sports day. I thought the dance and song was catchy so I looked it up. I used to get Yoona and Yuri mixed up in gee

I already was a big anime fan and was getting into j pop and j rock and on a Kat-tun fan vid the background music was mirotic by DBSK. I liked it so much I looked it up and plunged feet first and I am still here a little over 6 yrs later :) I only watch korean dramas if jyj is in it or if it's something besides the stereotypical romance, like school 2013 or city hunter- most usually have way too much institutionalized sexism -_- I love korean variety shows like dream team, running man, anything with idols; hello counselor & immortal song 2 are my current passions
