sillysone 6,340
Inspired by this thread http://onehallyu.com/topic/170403-ohers-when-did-you-realise-you-were-old-and-that-you-havent-hit-your-milestones/ I never really thought about it much, but after reading this I feel like ppl who are a few years younger than me view me as "old". I'll be turning 20 in a few months, and I don't seem to fit the norm when it comes to social expectations and pressures. I spend a lot of my time by myself, most likely wasting it in the the eyes of other people. Is there any hope for me? Is my life ever going to get better? Will I ever live up to my potential? yet I was so happy yesterday, sigh, don't make depressive threads like this anymore ppl
Pineapple 7,592
Soon you will realize 20 is very young in the grand scheme of things. Honestly, just enjoy being yourself and doing what makes you happy, because measuring yourself against others or "societal norms" isn't the way to go. Yes, but it's difficult when my family nags me about it a lot.. "When are you gonna get a girlfriend? Why don't you go out more? Why don't you do something useful with your life?" allytaeny 674
I'm 20 this year too, Jk rowling started writing harry potter at 24 years old. Ray Kroc bought over macdonalds at 52. There isn't any hurry to do anything. Just take it easy. Also, the things that you're doing may seem to be a "waste of time" but it might just turn out to be something useful in future. mlssv92 438
I'm 22 and spend a lot of time by myself too. Honestly i'm beginning to ignore any expectations that go along with my age. I'm a major introvert so i don't force myself to socialize more than i want to
VARSITY 3,838
You aren't old unless you feel old. Age isn't the only thing that makes someone useful or great. You don't have to measure you life in terms of what everyone else is doing or has done by the same age. Because you have to live your life, you have to be you everyday until you leave this earth so live your life for yourself.

Guest
Oh OP I feel your pain. But you are most certainly not old. I think we both.. (and many other folks who have the same worries) have been too busy measuring ourselves up to other people's standards. We just have continue going at out own pace. Just because you're not as fast as everyone else does not mean you won't get there. That's a lesson I learnt today! To think I wasted my early years of youth also worrying about not hitting "milestones".. I am such a mess. HAHAHA ..
oye123 1,615
dont stress about it its your age and you do and think what you want about it if you are going to think that its old then its going to be old if you are going to think its young then its going to be young besides age is just a number and it only gets a meaning if you give meaning to it otherwise enjoy your youth you dont have to measure up to any societal standards, you set yourself a pace and take the steps you need to reach your goals or what have you
