What's the most difficult foreign language you've ever studied?

I recently decided to start learning Chinese but it's not coming nearly as easy to me as the other languages I've studied. The grammar is pretty simple, but all those tones and characters.  :horror:  I'm hoping that it's just the initial shock of it all and it'll get easier over time...

The easiest for me was definitely Spanish, and Korean was somewhere in the middle.

Latin

I never remember the vocabulary and I don't get the grammar. Everytime there's a rule on something, there is always an exception to that rule so I don't understand it. I never get higher than around an 80 on a test

I tried Chinese before. Heard the tones. Stopped studying it.

Korean. I tried 2 times before I could actually stick to studying it.

It took me a couple of times to start seriously studying it, but once I really got into it was pretty easy for me. It's funny, because even though so much of the Korean lexicon comes from Chinese, Chinese words just don't stick in my head nearly as well as Korean ones do...

korean  :horror:  the biggest problem ever is that I can't make words apart when they're talking. I can do it with many languages, all of the languages I personally ever listened to, but with korean I can't...and I learn languages by hearing them, not by studying. and it sucks, because it's also the only language I'm interested in rn

Ive been learning Mandarin Chinese, but had to take a break because it was a little overwhelming. I started off on the wrong foot. There's this really awesome language app i use. that you can converse with people from that country that will help you with your mandarin(or any other language or you can help them with there English or whatever your language is if they want to learn) only problem I'm having is different people have different ways of saying things. so one person will tell me it's right the other wrong lol i get so many request to help out it's a little much but everyone is super nice lol.

Anyhoo, ive backtracked and started working on my tones,to get that down right before moving on to other things.

That's a problem with pretty much every foreign language for me... My verbal comprehension sucks and I often have to rely on subtitles (in the target language) for shows and stuff.

i've studied both japanese and currently studying chinese and chinese is way harder. japanese grammar isn't too bad and i really enjoyed how the language flowed but chinese is just... horrible.

i love chinese tho, it's my favorite foreign language so i guess it's a lot easier for me than some other people since i truly enjoy studying it
