Note.

A song's charting on melon digital chart depends highly on song quality, melon trends is not the same, melon trends  is about how much melon users are interested in certain acts .

Other than those acts  which made comeback recently, the  older acts that keeps trending on melon shows how much melon users are curios or interested in those acts.

-Desprite not making a comeback IU maintained her no1 position .Showing her popularity among overall melon users. From my pov she is the strongest when it comes to digital in melon.

-EXO 's melon charting and their  trending  on melon proves the sudden increase in number of  exoL that currently uses melon .And since  they made a comeback recently  they are right behind Park Hyo shin who is the most favoured male vocalist among melon user.

-Desprite being more than a year since snsd had made a comeback they still ranked higher than other

girl  groups   who made comeback more recently.its shows melon users are  curious about their next release desprite releasing  non public friendly songs .Which actually might have added to their attraction, since people expects something new from them each time.

Didn't SNSD release CMIYC? and Sunny also released something?

Your comment is biased as fuck.

Thats japanese singles though. They Cmiyc is out of top 100 and melon users don't care about japanese remakes ,

but still they are still trending quite high right anong ggs now and swaping places with davichi. For no1.

MissA song hit daebak .

Exid also did well.

But quite behind on search trends

since the search trend depends on how much melon users are curious in general about certain  acts not how well songs do.

That Japanese single excuse again. You use EXO-L as the reason for EXO but public for SNSD when both have release?

Sorry EXO even ranked higher than SNSD in top favorite singer 2014.

I already stated  exol  have made shit tons of acc there,

Snsd released CMIYC. Don't you remember?? They started to trend for some days before it was released. Why sones are trying so hard to demostrate that snsd is relevant? It's sad.

lol no snsd have been SEARCHED higher than any other GG in general except apink( aPINK trended higher for 4month ) since they made a comeback in november ,

EXID: peak was in april and its still less than snsd lowest stat.

Exid_melon_chart.png

4minuite .Their avg is near 100K and their peak was 612k during feb which is 4K higher than snsd's 609K since 4m made a comeback that month

melon_search_4m.png

Sistar:Their peak trend is 465K snsd's lowest is 516K ,so obviously people were searching for snsd more in melon

melon_search_sistar.png

RV:Their avg is near 100-200K their peak was 589K(march), they were leading in march only among the gg when they made their comeback

melon_search_rv.png

SNSD's lowest was in march 516K there rest were  above ,sistar/gsd/2ne1/exid/missA/Aoa  for ..

Geez.

Just stop making stupid threads like that. Does these trends matter? Trends are useless if they don't translate into sales.

Just wait patiently for the girls to comeback and then let the results speak for themselves when the time comes.

If sm managed to fuck up their comeback song and concept they might do bad who knows ,

Even though people searched more for snsd's cmiyc  missA exid ended up selling mich higher because their song was good.

Flop? Do you really think the girls will flop tbh?

And do you know how much it costs to stream/buy a track on mel0n?

zXrmwFD.jpg

If I were to choose the middle package, its 13 usd for 50 songs, which makes out to be 0.26 cents per song. If I were to choose the top package, its 16 usd for 100 songs, which makes out to be 0.16 cents per song. Just putting this information out there for reference. Do you think mel0n is where the money is? Idk you be the judge.

^ this post is an example of what pisses me off about this forum. So many users on this forum doesn't understand how kpop works or how kpop sales works, and yet tries to prove an incorrect point by only using information that supports their logic, and remains adamant when they are in the wrong and gives negs to people that actually tries to provide information. I am so sad that dmn and vevo decided to quit kpop forums because of how much people bashed them. :>_>:

If I follow your point, then am I right to assume that you think spotify doesn't earn artists any money? If so, why is the music industry pushing it so hard then? I mean, you don't even need to pay to use it, it has a niche userbase and it doesn't even provide videos like youtube. The reason that the music industry is pushing spotify so much is the same reason why melon is so important in korea. In fact, spotify based its structure off chinese music streaming sites, and so many people complain that music doesn't earn money in china.

Unpopular idea: the korean music sites actually based their structure off chinese music sites, and decided to charge users money for using their service too.

my point isn't that digital isn't important. Of course making people pay for their music is important and is the right step to reduce illegal downloads.

something less relevant

For example, Taylor Swift took her songs off Spotify.

Swift also notes that Spotify could hurt music sales. Music is available for streaming on Spotify even to those who don’t pay for a premium subscription.

http://www.businessinsider.sg/taylor-swift-explains-why-she-left-spotify-2014-11/#.VUyLwvlsGko

my point is that Soshi's strength isn't in digital. SM's strength is in physicals and there's nothing to worry about because the girls are always strong in physicals. And we wouldn't "flop" like what FoG, a self proclaimed sone had asserted. The real money still lies in the physicals. And how can you call a group a "flop" when it is still making more money than most of the groups out there?

OP provides such an informative thread and yet people get so butthurt about learning new things about kpop.

I really can't with ifans anymore. :unimpressed:

Meh, you act like only you and OP know about Melon.

Let me tell you, no one would say a word if OP provided the list alone not his biased comment. Like Naver search is based on popularity and scandal/ activities, Melon search is based on favorite and release. No one deny the fact SNSD is one of Korean/ Melon user favorite artist but OP shouldn't deny the fact SNSD released CMIYC on 10th April and Sunny released her single/ collaboration on 21st April.
