No your example was fine. It is gonna be the bigger groups fanbases that usually say things against the smaller groups simply because they don't want another group possibly taking what their group has got. I have seen Panda's get bad abuse from sones. But since A Pink have gotten big I have also seen some of those same pandas who used to defend A Pink from the sones attacks, now turn round and attack AoA. Not all Pands. Just a few idiots making the rest look bad. It seems like there are a lot because some do it a lot. In truth though there are a lot more Panda's that are fine with AoA. Same for Daisies and Sones. It's just because the idiots make more noise it makes there seem like there are lots of them when there aren't.

 

It's like if AoA get in the top 5 and get a really big fanbase. We will then have idiots that say nasty things about groups below AoA and make us look bad. It's just the way some of these idiots need to react. I don't know why. They just do.

 

That's why I said it was like this with Unpretty Rapstar and Jimin. You can bet most of the haters will be (a small amount of) groups like Sones, 2ne1,A Pink, Sistar etc. It may seem like a lot but it's just a few idiots from each group. So we just rise above it and ignore them

Actually, you and many others have made my lurking in this thread the most enjoyable experience

This thread unlike some others are lurk in as a pretty open and lively atmosphere with the least amount of negativity and I like that reason why I decided to join.

 

I actually do not believe in having a bias, so I pretty much like everyone in AOA equally, but since Youkyoung has the least amount of people who choose her as their main I decided to have her be my first and only bias ever LOL 

 

My favorite songs by AOA are most probably "Under the Streetlight" and "Time". I think those two songs showcase the vocal ability of Choa and Yuna respectively, plus Jimin Rap in Under the Streetlight is just great.

 

Another one I like is "You Know That" a song where Jimin rap is great.

 

"Girl's Heart" is a favorite of mine also because I feel like Seol Hyun's and Hyejeong voice is perfect during the Intro at least I believe that is the two of them singing before Jimin rap and Chan Min rap at the end just like in "Under The Streetlight" is good.

But I finally decided to give my two cents whenever I could and support the girls since when they debuted I was so excited about them being this combo group with a band and dance unit. 

 

The girls are just so talented I am glad they are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

And y'all. I decided to not go in the Unpretty Rapstar thread. Literally like a majority of these people spew Jimin hate as if they were facts then get upvoted for it. They say she's too into her looks, but literally all the contestants want to look good. Hell all people on Earth want to look good. It's so annoying, but whatever. They're sitting there typing while Korea loves her.

 

 

 

The same thing happened to me too.

I really sometimes wonder what those people have against Jimin. I don't think she is the best rapper on the show not by a long shot.

But the amount of hate she gets on that thread and many others in the net makes no sense to me. 

I have grown up listening to Rap and R&B and I can tell you that most people who make comment about Jimin seem to actually have no clue what hip hop is about and even what being a good rapper is. 

 

She has a great flow, good enough lyrics for someone who has only wrote a few bars here and there for AOA songs.

But no one gives her credit for that and only talk about her reusing her raps when Cheetah and many others have been using raps from their own songs.

I always have this thread, CNBLUE and FTISLAND open in my internet Tabs.

 

I think it is obvious that I follow mostly FNC bands LOL

Yes they were the couple with the most chemistry on the show, even more so than Suzy and Kim So Hyun

 

That drama is also the reason i like IU as an actress lol (though i have to say i only watched it for Wooyoung xD)

I think IU, Kim So Hyun and Eun Jeung are the only reason why I watched that drama and it is still one of my favorite.

Because despite their respective partners (Woo Young, Suzy and Taec Yeon) lack of any acting ability the chemistry was just there and made you forget that they weren't good actor.

 

But IU to me was the one with the most acting ability of the Idols since Eun Jeung and So Hyun I consider actors there and her chemistry with Woo Young on that show was just undeniable.

Elvis's at least here on OH don't bash other groups, maybe it is because some of the Elvis's or AOA fans are also fans of other fandoms. Maybe it is because the fandom is not that big yet who knows?

I think it is more that there are a lot of nice fans in most fandoms and just a few fools that make the fandom looks bad. In here right now we have the good guys, The "A Team" We will no doubt get some fools in here as times goes by who make us look bad on other threads but as long as we keep showing we are above that then everything will be fine .

 

I also think it helps how we are with each other. We don't look at people as just another poster on the thread. Look how you were welcomed. We try to be that friendly with everyone because we want them to feel part of of the group instantly. To make people feel like they have been talking to us for ages and aren't really new. That way we all usually get on very well.

 

I know there will always be some fans who take things a little too far

I am glad to see that at least here everything is kept civil

Jimin has been getting bashed on every thread on here recently. Well every thread except this one. I think the hate for Jimin comes form the fact that many wanted her to fail and instead she shows she was better than most of their bias rappers. So now the hate comes from jealousy

 

That's one of the many good things about this thread. We are protected from the idiotic bashing of any of the AoA members. This is our tranquil domain from the idiots!

It's not only here on One Hallyu but on most places where Unpretty Rapstar is discussed.

 

Yes, I do believe most people expected her to fail or to be as bad as Lil Cham turned out to be, but unfortunately that dream of theirs didn't come true.

I don't think Jimin is the best on the show but she is definitely not the worst.

 

It is not her fault that San E the host who is supposed to be neutral thinks it is funny to be so obvious in his liking of her and AOA.

It is not Jimin's fault she is an Idol and Kangnam and Seulong both wanted her on their track without even hearing her rap just because she was an Idol. They were only looking for the end result which is position on the Digital Charts.

It is not Jimin's fault that the writers are trying to push a narrative, whether that narrative is real or not.

 

From what I have seen on this show, this show was never about actually finding the best female rappers or what not. It was just a vehicle to give some of the female rappers who have appeared on SMTM a chance to shine too; reason why unlike SMTM there was no actual audition process.

 

Jimin  was selected b/c as an Idol she already has a more solid fan base and guarantee viewers.

Jessi  was  selected b/c the the PD knew she will bring in the drama. 

Jolly V and Tymee came as a package deal because of their beef.

Yuk Jidam because of her Mildang girl persona on SMTM#3.

Lil Cham needed the exposure.

Cheetah is obviously the best rapper no one comes close to her.

 

I just wish people could look at Jimin's actual skill and judge her on that and not just blindly hate her because the PD, MNet and CJE&M are biased.

It's like I said before. A lot of people don't realise that this is all about business. They really do like to imagine that these rappers don't get along. People like to believe their are scandals and conspiracies around ever corner. When in truth the show has a writer that keeps making things happen and it is just a show that is aimed at bringing some of these rappers more into the spotlight. Jimin is actually a vehicle to help that happen because she brings in the audience.

I have seen some say that Jimin only picked Seulong's song because she knew she could win it so she was being tactical. Yet as you say Kangnam and Seulong both wanted Jimin on their song so they could get access to the digital sales. So they were being tactical also. Yet no one mentions that because they are forgiven for it.

I don't mind debating with anyone over anything but as soon as the double standards and the hypocrisy starts then I just think them an idiot and close the conversation down. That's why I don't speak to many on here outside of this thread. Too many hypocrites

I mean seriously, they even brought Zico has the first producer for the show.

Not that I am discrediting his actual producing skills but I doubt Zico will ever be given the chance to produce anyone on SMTM.

They chose Zico because they were hoping that the BBs wanting to support Zico will most probably get that track to get somewhere on the chart but unfortunately, Zico wasn't able to give Yuk Jidam the proper instructions or really didn't care much and the end result was what it was.

 

Now when Verbal Jint went against the rules and first chose Jessi to be on the track even though that is not what it was supposed to be nobody said a word. Kangnam was pushing hard for her not because she was a better rapper than Cheetah, but because he knew with her on the track the song will sell better.

No one said a word and agreed with Verbal Jint final decision because Jessi has some type of street credibility

 

 

(Which is actually funny because most of her English punchlines can be found in popular rap songs of the early 2000s "All Eyes on Me" is the title of one of 2Pac's album).  

 

 

But when Verbal Jint again went against what he himself felt and chose Jimin to be on the track following the advices given by San E, Seulong and Kangnam. Only Jimin is blamed not Verbal Jint and neither was San E. Only Seulong and Jimin the two Idols since Idols are an easy prey. 

 

At the end of the day the results are there. 

 

Jimin and Seulong song topped the charts which is exactly what Verbal Jint and CJE&M probably wanted since he and no one else made the final decision about who should be on the track.

 

As for Jimin she has been playing this game the best out of all the contestant apart from Yuk Jidam and Cheetah.

 

For the first mission she was right to choose Kisum and Lil Cham because she had more chances to beat them when it came to the rap battle for the song. If she knew they were going to hand her wins she would have chosen Cheetah to be in her team since she would have known that whatever she does she would win.

 

 

 

One of the thing that people fail to realize is that even if San E had given Cheetah the win, the audience at that Club was going  to hand Jimin's team the win no matter what. And when their perfomance turned out to be better then the win is deserved

If Jimin and her team was so bad how come the better team has about 10% of the views of the worst team?

 

 

 

For the 2nd mission, the song she chose is exactly the type of songs she is given in AOA albums, a soft ballad to which she had to write a rap for. Plus having Seulong there as an Idol most probably gave her even more confidence that song was the best choice for her.

Jimin is being smart on the show, i don't see the problem, all of them in the show wants to win

lol i get that people can dislike her for whatever reason they claimed but most of them go beyond that, they seem so salty towards her,

like when her and seulong's song charted well, they said that 'it's bound to happen even when she's not featured on the song, unpretty rapstar paved the way for it to happen' etc

like wtf they're discrediting seulong and verbal jint as well by doing that. people like the song, deal with it

I was even taken aback when someone was bold enough to say they were unhappy or salty as you say because Jimin and Seulong song topped the charts and had 3 roof hits in Melon.

 

I couldn't believe what I read.

 

I remember when Yuk Jidam song got released, I was watching the chart hoping it would do well but unfortunately it didn't and I was saddened by that.

 

When Jessi, Kangnam and Cheetah song did as well as it did on the charts for two whole weeks. I couldn't have been happier for the two ladies. Since because they have co-lyrics credit on a charted song they will most probably get the copyrights money for it.

 

The reaction to Jimin's and Seulong song and its chart position was surprising to me. How could people not want them to succeed and do well?

 

I was absolutely taken aback by the things that people said about her. She cares too much about her appearance and the likes, her voice is too nasally for the song when she isn't using her high pitch tone. 

Most of the episodes that have aired, her hair looks a mess, she doesn't look like she is wearing make up and she is wearing the baggiest clothes I have ever seen. I think she even dress a little better for her airport fashion.

 

I am confused and wonder if we are all watching the same show.

All these people that co,plain also haven't seemed to notice one important point. It is supposed to be a rap show so why is it the guests are always Idols. Yes Zico is a rapper but still an Idol. Kangnam and Seulong are both Idols. If this really was a rap show why are they not inviting on hiphop rappers who are famous in the rap community? Simple because the hiphop community is not as big as the idol one. So they bring in producers like Verbal Jint and then bring in Idols for them to sing with. Because it's all about business and sales and Idols will always sell better.

How many on here do we honestly think had heard of people like Cheetah, Tymee, Jolly V etc before Unpretty Rapstar? In truth I hadn't heard of any of them. This show is a rap show aimed at Idols and not really aimed at the rap community. They are trying to give these rappers a taste of Idol popularity. So before people say bad things about Idols being on the show they should realise Idols and their fanbases are exactly who this show is aimed it.

 

 

Unfortunately that is what this show is about business 

If you compare it to SMTM which by the way is also all about Money, then it becomes clear that this show is not in anyways to even help these ladies become better rappers.

On SMTM the host only appeared when the challenges were to be held.

You actually see some of the mentors helping the members of their respective teams get better, talk about strategy, they even prepared the stage and had rehearsals and all that.

 

On Unpretty Rapstar Until MC Meta and D.O appeared on the latest episode that some legitimate advices were given to the ladies and that not even much but at least they mentioned a couple of things that had been bothering me with some of the contestants.

 

You are absolutely right none of us knew about these ladies before they were announced on the show,

I for one didn't know any of them but when the cast was announced since most of them came from SMTM#3 I did watch those episodes.

One thing that surprised me was actually that these people were given time to write and hear the beat of their freestyle before the actual rap battle. LOL

That is not how rap battles operates, the rapper or MC is suppose to get there and listen to the beat and spit verses on the spot. But that is neither here nor there. From what I have seen in Korea or at least Korean TV the rap battles are a joke.

 

The ladies who come on the show are not trying to be recognized as rappers or MCs, real MC don't need the mainstream to know that they can spit like no one else or not. What you need to do is put out a Mixtape and if you are good then you will get known as a good rapper or MC in the community that matters.

 

For some of them a record company approaches you and then you can put out your album and if you are that good then the mainstream will jump on the bandwagon. This is most probably what happened with RapMonster of BTS, Zico of Block B, LE of EXID and all those Korean underground rappers who are now in Idol Groups.

 

 

These ladies want the popularity of pop artist or let's say Korean Idols, same reason why some of those Korean underground rappers went on SMTM. People who are entrenched in the hip hop culture knowing you can spit a verse or two won't put food on the table to feed your family. 

 

 

As I said on another thread. Kinda makes you wonder if people would be acting like this if it was a different Idol instead of Jimin that was appearing on the show

I would actually like to ask those that give hate to Jimin if the show puts an idol in for season 2 would that idol get this hate too or is it just for Jimin?

 

 

 

 

I don't think they will be this harsh, if it was rappers they believed should have been on the show.

Like LE of EXID, Myrio of BEG and whoever else they consider a legitimate rapper.

 

But since this show is about gaining popularity, the second season will most probably have LE of EXID she was on SMTM#2, a rapper from the popular female Idol group of the moment who can write her own lyrics (Not many of them in K-pop) and who ever is the rapper from that famed YG girl group whose debut was to be 3 years ago.

I knew Hyejeong was going to be sent on that dating show. Isn't the PD of that show who wanted an AOA girl on his show or was it the PD for the show Yuri is in?

 

Either way it is a good thing for her. I am happy she is on that and I believe she could be great on it.

I guess only Chanmi and Y don't have anything so far. Doubtful Y will get anything but I am hopeful.

@mguemon, I guess just leave them like that, its really pointless defending Jimin on that thread. Its all because Jimin did that 'Im sexy' introduction cypher, and because of San E, so they always think 'Jimin always bad and if she win, its because the judges are biased'.

Yes I left that thread a little while ago because I actually do not understand what getting neg means. LOL

It was actually funny seeing me getting negged on agreeing with a poster that Jimin understandably instead of dissing the people on the stage with her decided to dissed the show and Korean Hip Hop got me to get negged.

And even more so when in the same post I was agreeing with her that San E was being biased and can be seen as sexually harassing Jimin LOL 

 

I guess to them what San E has been doing throughout this whole season is not sexual harassment since Jimin is an Idol and thus should be treated thus by a man about 10 years older than her and in a position of power. LOL

 

That thread was actually pretty fun LOL 

 

Using their own argument to say that Jessi should have won Track 3 on account that the crowd gave her the win and Kangnam was lobbying for her plus she claims having Charisma like Jessi trumps up having actual rap skills. LOL 

But oh no only Jimin doesn't deserve the win when the crowd decided that she and Tymee were evenly matched and even though Jimin's lyrics were weaker than Tymee, Verbal Jint decided to give her the track. Same reason he knew that adding Jessi on Chettah's track will propel it higher which it in fact did, because Jessi made the track sellable with her non existent rap skills and so did Jimin with her limited writing skills.  That says quite a lot LOL 

 

They were all getting annoyed when I was actually having fun.

Whatever you do do not use logic against them. It gives them a headache because they can't think of a reply. So they just neg you and don't give a counter argument. Just about every neg I have ever got is because I have used logic against people's opinion. No one says anything back they just neg me because they know there is no argument they can give. So they just get frustrated. If people want upvotes all the time on this forum all you have to do is drop your IQ down to that resembling an onion, learn to be a massive hypocrite and be willing to jump on every bandwagon that is created lol.

 

Although if you stick to being a normal person and giving a logical opinion then yes expect the odd neg for simply making sense.

 

That is what I have come to realize, but since I use logic all the time, I don't know how that is going to change LOL

Yes that thread is actually toxic.

Someone just used foul language when I asked why I did get negged when I was agreeing with them in saying that San E has been tottaly biased toward Jimin.

That really wasn't necessary.

 

I guess is this thing that women have, I mean I am women so I can say that.

Their inability to see another one doing well and instead of praising her doing their damnedest to bring her down.

 

Jimin is in no way shape and form the best on the show and she is definitely not the worst when others have performed worst than her. But I am guessing they will never accept it.
