BigBang : YG trainess won't have the same hunger + Big Bang not peaked yet

Big Bang walked down memory lane as they discussed their time as trainees as well as their future.

In an interview with Newsen, the members were asked how they feel about promoting as Big Bang for nearly 10 years. T.O.P replied, "We haven't fought once. We still feel as if time is not important. We haven't lived with a sense of time, so maybe that's why we think the idea of time is not important."

Taeyang and G-Dragon said, "Even when we were trainees, the company was in a difficult period. In that difficult environment, we went through a hard time tooNow the YG system has become systematized and we see the trainees who are learning in this system, we think it will be hard for them to learn and take on a 'hungry mentality.' When we were young, we felt hunger in our bones. If we got #1 as soon as we debuted, I think we wouldn't have had a lasting passion. We were a group that wasn't even able to make it near 1st place for our first one to two years."

Taeyang added, "When we were trainees, we loved snacks. It was hard to practice and we wanted to eat snacks, but we didn't have the money to buy them. So we asked the PD who was filming our documentary to buy some for us. If we ordered food more than once a day, we were called and scolded. We couldn't spend more than 5,000 won (approx. $4.62 USD). We didn't like feeling uneasy, so we only ordered an appropriate amount. We still talk about that a lot."

G-Dragon said, "Now our company's economic status is of course much better than it was back then. There are a lot of options we can choose from. Maybe we endured through everything for that long to do these things."

The members were asked about what they thought about their 'peak'. Taeyang and G-Dragon said, "To an extent, it's true we need to decide when our peak was, but we don't know if it already came or if a higher peak will come in the future. That's why we think it'll have meaning to decide on that. For example, if our peak is becoming like Michael Jackson, then we can't be satisfied with where we are now. We don't want to be like that. Rather than deciding on one [goal] and going towards that one goal, we haven't decided on a goal, and as we continuously going forward, we think we will reach it. If we look back now, we don't know when our peak was. We'll have to look back much later on in order to find that out."

About the hunger , I think it mostly true ..

It much easier for them to success than BB back in the day...

and also I like their answer about their peak,
Basically they want to go as far as they could, there's not a single trace of complacency, they still full of passion,
I hope we really can see them till 10+ years from now

It depends which trainees tho.

I doubt that applies to Mino, Seungyoon and Seunghoon who actually got where they are because of their passion and really struggled on the way, especially financially.

Seunghoon didnt even have money to take a picture of himself to audition for KpopStar.

Taehyun also had to do part-time jobs and go from agency to agency before he got into YG.

I agree that suffering to get where you are makes you appreciate the moment of success even more.

I really love them :ahmagah:  Their passion is one of the things that make them great. I didn't know that thing about the food. When they talk about trainee days, they often talk about food. The feeling of having a lack of something so basic in order to stand on stage must really give you a perspective groups from big companies can't begin to feel.

they peaked long time ago... just like how 90% of kpop groups peaked already

They peaked during Fantastic Baby, and anyone who denies that is an idiot lol

Peaking would mean that they are declining. Bigbang is still on an upward slope.

Their songs are continuously doing better on the charts and their concert tours only getting bigger, among other things.

Eh, he got a point and of course they got it harder but let's not act like the Ikon and Winner members were given everything they got into a silver platter right after WIN ended. B.I had to be part of two survival shows at the same time after losing another one, KSY and Seunghoon also were part of a survival reality show prior WIN and Mino had two failed debut attempts and now is even going to another survival. If there's one thing both groups don't lack is hunger.

It's true that idols under YG have a bigger chance @ immediate success thanks to Big Bang. But, iKON & Winner are probably under a lot of pressure from trying to find an identity for themselves and living up to the standards Big Bang sets. Plus, these trainees/idols work just as hard... Right off the bat, they're required to compose for their own debut albums. Not just that, YG got a lot more delusional and money-hungry than he initially was (LOL), so the way he handles Big Bang and his two new groups are totally different.

But I mean, how do we even measure that in the first place? We really can't. I see passion as passion.

Anyone from YG & SM now has it better than their seniors. There's no doubt about that

I don't see BB is on their decline but i don't think they become bigger either. They just stay at their peak, i guess

I'm not sure why people are feeling sensitive about YG's newer groups?  Big Bang is not denying that those groups have to work hard & make sacrifices to reach their goals. Of course they do. It's never easy to find success in the entertainment world.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that Big Bang had it a bit harder than the current crop of trainees. YG just didn't have the money back then to support them the way they do now. It was a whole different kind of hardship.

As for Big Bang's peak? Who knows?  At the moment their comeback is equally as impactful as the one for Alive. I guess we'll just have to wait & see.

just shading them to work more harder

Tbh.....i aint bothered tho. Things have changed so much since they were trainees that they can't help but think about their old times. I've mad respect for them but i think winner or ikon or anyone else from yg know their own position the most. Let's just say they go through different kind of difficulties than bigbang. They've to live upto the high expectations, be very careful with their actions when it's actually the time of the youth where they should be enjoying.

IKR..maybe they want ikon and winner do not forget their difficulties thus making more great music later on..i mean by challeging themselves before anyone else..everyone have their own difficulties as time changes difficulties came in many ways.. :)

They're right.

If we got #1 as soon as we debuted, I think we wouldn't have had a lasting passion. We were a group that wasn't even able to make it near 1st place for our first one to two years."

This applies to so many people, both rookie fandoms and general kpopers who give rookie fans a hard time. Everyone expects them to be #1 straight off the bat or they're considered perpetual flops.
