I don't even like this girl but this mess needs to stop...

Her dress is by Guo Pei, a Chinese designer, at an exhibition on China. Guo Pei probably was involved in dressing her and Guo Pei is in the exhibition. It makes perfect sense. Also, Guo Pei is a designer so she's working in a commercial space. She's basically selling her culture to anyone willing to pay for it. Doesn't this make her wrong too?

erm................???????????? She's just wearing a dress INSPIRED by a culture.... I mean it's not like she's prancing around singing Chinese in an M/V while sporting the damn thing....... people need to stop screaming bloody mary over the smallest things. God damn people.... so sensitive now.

If the designer wanted her to wear it, then she did nothing wrong.  The Gala was about Chinese culture and fashion yet Rihanna was the only one to wear a Chinese designer's clothes (that I know of).  They barely even photographed the Chinese actors/actresses etc. that did attend.  I think that's what most people are mad about and they just attached Rihanna to it.

Yeah, I hate how easily and carelessly Social Justice Warriors throw around the term. While it's one thing to sport bindis and Native American headpieces at Coachella, wearing a Chinese-influenced dress by a Chinese designer at an event which is China-themed is not cultural appropriation in my books.

Don't care about whether Rihanna was right or wrong, but I just find it ridiculous how people who aren't even from that culture are more offended that the natives themselves.

That happens too often.

Whatever that piece of clothing may be (a cloak, maybe?) it looks absolutely stunning but if feels incomplete with nothing underneath it.

And if the theme is chinese couture I think it's safe to say that garments incorporating the chinese culture are more than encouraged.
