GirlGroupTrash 823 Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 I wrote a 5 page paper in an hour and a half and got a 90. lol I had an essay test and we only had an hour and half to take it and I looked like I was constipated the whole time because I was so nervous... I thought I was going to get like a 70 on it too lol and if you really want a tip as to how to write essays, for me the easiest thing to do is have all my info in front of me and crank out an essay in one sitting. if I get it done then, it relieves me and I don't forgot what I was going to write next... then again that might be just me XD (i'm a journalism major with a minor in english so when i'm not writing essays i'm writing more essays if you catch my drift) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

onefatpanda 296 Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 at school I only write like 2 pages essays so I am not sure about how long it would take for 5 pages; but I am guessing about 3.5 hours I come out with an outline; introduction, 3-how ever many body paragraphs, conclusion come up with your thesis statement/argument then write your essay by rewording all your major points and then proof read you might then want to redo another good copy Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I tend to score relatively high in the B B+ range. I honestly have never gotten an A and I don't think I've seen anyone get one in my literature classes in College. Maybe it can be done, but it seems to depend on your professor. In non literature classes that involved heavy writing, I almost always score an A, I did in philosophy, some journalism classes, etc. In non literature classes, I get disappointed as hell with a B much less a B+, in literature, you take that and flaunt it like shit, I got a B+ and fan myself with a paper. My tips. Really know what your professor is asking. I use the first essay we write to gauge this. It is always my lowest score and it tends to have a lot of notes, plus your prof will undoubtedly speak about it and be like, this is the direction you want to head in. Listen to that and write that way. The key is to cater to your prof's preferences. Every professor wants something different. Some favor the more artistic quirky side of it, some prefer critical thinking where you weave an essay based on quotes and make a compelling argument. Read as much of the book as you can, if you can't sparknotes and research the main themes. Unfortunately, if you don't read the book you will miss the undertones regardless of whether you have a summary so when I don't have time, I sparknotes but also fleet through the book to try and pick up as much as I can. MooMoorionette 77 Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 In exams I do 4 pages in 40 mins and get mostly B3's. I do History so a lot of essay writing goes into it. For our main exam we have to write 3 or 2 (can't remember which), 4 paged essays in 2 1/2 hours. English requires a good bit of writing as well. In class work I do 5 pages in 5 hours and get A2's. One of the main problems with my exams is that I can't write fast enough so I end up having to write less to fit the main points, which ultimately decreases my marks. Also my handwriting is pretty messy so my presentation goes down as well. Essay writing can be fairly easy as long as you get the main points of the topic from textbooks, the internet or by asking your teacher, and just expand on them. In English you expand with quotes and explanations, in History you expand with causes, courses and consequences. Planning your essay is great as well. Before you start write down what your going to talk about in each paragraph and find a way to link them. This helps focus your work and makes for a well thought out essay.
