[+95, -4] Everyone wants to be the next Bobby

The title is simply a conversation starter. What do you guys think of idols from all walks of life joining SMTM this season? Has the show lost some credibility by opening the idol flood gates? By having Jinusean and Jay Park ( who aren't exactly the best rappers or the most credible rappers in k-hip hop right now) judge?

Of course there is no guarantee that the idols will make it anywhere on the show, but i'll be side eyeing mnet real hard if the don't eliminate someone who just isn't on par for this competition immediately.

Let's hope mnet doesn't ruin a good show, that everything is done fair and square and that we'll see some true originality.

I thought the concept of the show was to discover underground rappers and bring them to the mainstream. Although I want to see those idols bc I like them, I think it goes against the purpose of the show. They don't need to be there if not to bring buzz to their own group. But still, they're already pretty mainstream. I just hope none of them wins, as much as I like them.

Zico and Jay Park judging just Mino is very hilarious, Let alone the other much better underground rappers lmao!

And yes, idols think the show gives you more credibility as rapper or something.

If Mino wins this season, it will just open the floodgate of hate towards YG, because the bias would be extremely obvious. Let underground rappers shine too, idols already got exposure with companies backing them up, give them a chance, thank you.

I thought the "only" idols were going to be Mino, Jooheon and Buffy but apparently there's 3 more? Wow, it's beginning to look like a joke right now. Plus with those judges that don't have much credibility in the underground scene. '-'

EDIT: So with Zico's brother I guess it makes it 4 more idols? I'm losing count.

Honestly I don't like it that much. The idols on this season I really like but part of the purpose for this show and unpretty rapstar is to bring some light on underground rappers and boost their career. Look what it did for a rapper like Cheetah. It also put Jessi back on the map. But it also proved Jimin can rap fairly well too. I'm really split because I do think idols should be able to prove themselves but I'd like to see the underground rappers get more spotlight. Luckily SMTM has better editing than UPR so it will be less dramatic.

Oh, definitely. It reminds me of what happened to Real Men after that Hyeri aegyo thing. Jay Park being a judge doesn't bother me because he seems to be a good producer so he knows what is talent when he sees it.

That said, Idk about the first two seasons but if you watched SMTM3 credibility is the last thing you can expect from this show. I think Bobby deserved to win but some of the choices were really wtf like when Tablo picked Jidam instead of that other guy because of "language barrier" or when B.I, as much as I love him, got so many chances. I hope this season gets a better editing and is more fair because even if I love Mino I'm not going to be hf him making mistakes and not doing well but still getting passes.

Well of course everyone wants to be the next bobby, boy got fame real fast as well as being recognized as a credible idol rapper(mostly) in just one show so any idol rappers joining the show is understandable, you see the chance you take it.I'm pretty sure all the idol rappers joining the show is confident enough of their talent so hopefully it will be fair and square

Yes, those were the 3 I was talking about. I have nothing against the idols, I like most of the groups they belong to but what a joke this is becoming. I can't deny, though, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

They need to get RapMon or Suga on there. They'd turn it out, tbh. Maybe next season...

I'm really surprised it didn't happen tbh. Rapmon is already doing high profile collabs and released a mixtape so I can see why he wouldn't do it but it would give some good exposure to Suga and J-Hope.

I can understand idols wanting to be on the show because it allows them to show their abilities which they may not be able to show when promoting with their group.

But if it means someone like Iron, P-Type or Blacknut not getting as far as they should I'll be angry

Wasn't Jucy on one of the previous seasons already? Are all old contestants allowed back on the show or something?

The funny thing is the contestants seem better than some of the judges.jaypark and jinusean?seriously?

The show just became a way to hit rating for mnet. Welp I'm interested nonetheless.....mino got me interested but i think i wanna really watch the show since i saw a few clips from smtm and UR.

See?mnet WILL stress on this whole idols vs underground shit even more this time around i guess. I'm ready for all the incoming drama towards mino.....not defending him if he fucks up tho....all i want is some good raps from him

She was eliminated during the 1:1 battles, so she should be allowed to come back ((Tarae came back for SMTM3 but was eliminated again during the 1:1 battles so I'm assuming it'll be the same for this season))

whine whine whine, is what most of Kpop fans seem to do. So what if Idols join? Let them prove themselves to you all. Aren't you people always complaining that most idol rappers can't rap or are only rapping because that's the only role they have? For geezubus sake, let them do their thing. Apparently there is no rule in that show that says only underground rappers can join. Also, most of those idols this time around were underground at one point in their life.  :soul:

LOL kids don't like being told the truth...it hurts... :imstupid:

chill. It's the fact that this show was originally made to show off underground rappers or less well known rappers. Now we have freaking Mino from one of the most popular rookie groups from one of the most successful companies. It's unfair and biased tbh.
