Like, "I enter the kitchen, he punches me in the face, she touches my forearm, etc. This is why I can't read most Young Adult novels. Too painful! I don't really have a preference when reading though. It all depends on the story really. Whether first or third person, if I'm not engaged then, the pov isn't going to stop me from closing the book...and vice versa: I'm not going to read a story the whole way through just because it's in a certain pov. They were recalling past events. That's why most stories use that format. In real life, we rarely tell a story as it's happening. Because we're wrapped up in the moment. So we wait, and then tell our friends later. That's why I can't read "present tense" novels. They don't make any sense because that isn't how stories are told. Also it's much harder to pull off.
