Do you think it's rude to use the word fat

Is there ever a time to use it or is it considered rude always?

In some countries like Korea, they say it often e.g the host from "Hello Counselor' and Gookjoo from 'Roommate'

But elsewhere e.g America, there's a whole 'love your body' wave going

What do you think?

Edit: btw I'm here for good since everyone wanted me to stay  :)  http://onehallyu.com/topic/167952-does-oh-want-me/

i think the polite way to point someone has more weight than average or advised is by using the word OVERWEIGHT

chubby is okay, but fat is rude.

we do not say "Fat" directly in our country unless we try to sound rude.

it's far more polite to use the word overweight.

I guess it's like with "homosexual" is the proper word, queer is okay but fag is rude.

or at least that's how I see it . tho queer is rude-ish as well.

Personally, I don't think it's rude if used in a positive way. A lot of people now days are basically promoting being fat with this "love yourself" notion and while it's not okay to be super skinny, it's also not okay to be super fat and I think people should be promoting being healthy instead of "loving yourself" or looking "like a model"

the word isn't inherently rude, but commenting on someone's body unsolicited is rude regardless of what your intentions are

if you wouldn't say it to their face then take it as a hint that what you're about to say might be offensive

Yeah

depends. like if a fat person is just describing their body type it's okay. if you're calling a fat person fat and bullying them about their weight bc """""u r concerned about their health""""" you're an asshole and then it's rude.
