Why did the US never care about Anastacia?

If you were alive in Europe or Australia between 2000 and 2006 you know the pop phenomenon that goes by the name Anastacia. Blowing up the charts with hits like "I'm Outta Love" "Paid My Dues" "Left Outside Alone" and "Sick and Tired" she was one of the biggest music acts around at the time. But for some reason the poor girl never made any big accomplishment in her home country. How come, she has a voice that puts Christina Aguilera's to shame, a body that even Britney didn't have back in the day and bad girl attitude that equals that of P!NK. So why no Anastacia love, Amurica?

I remember the first song

I'm Outta Love was the only song to chart in America, reaching #92 on the billboard. In most other countries in the world it reached at least top 3, her first of many.

I wouldn't know about that since I'm in Canada, I remember this being played on our local music station.

She definitely did not have a better body than Britney lmao

Gurl, did you SEE those abs in the One Day in your Life Music Video?!!?!?

I can't find any information on her chart performance in Canada, but I doubt she did well there...at least, here in Europe she was bigger than Britney and Christina combined, you would know more songs if she was as big there

Because her music was hard to categorize. Radio didn't know who to target it to so they just didn't care. Plus there were so many other pop stars trying to make it at the time.

I've heard this same argument used when explaining why Robbie Williams never made it big in the US. Guess they can be categorized together, especially seeing their peaks were at the same time and their music was very similar.

I don't think she did that well here either besides that song but I think she charted better than 92, on wiki it says she peaked at 11 on the Neilsen ratings

Yeah, totally similar situation. You can even say the same about Utada's English album.
