Can you explain how Culture, Race and Grammer unite and divide us?

how does race and culture unite?

people of the same race and culture flock together, due to them sharing similarities in beliefs, values and lifestyle. More often that not, people of different culture have harmony, but that doesnt translate to unity. They have tolerance but they dont necessarily achieve unity. But of course, not all are like this, just a large majority. Any type of national unity you see perpetuated by the media is currently mostly still superficial. At least in my country.

how does race and culture divide?

the exact opposite. When you have different beliefs, values and lifestyle, you'll find it harder to be understanding and emphatise. Also, in this supposedly 'connected' world, many people still find any type of culture assimilation, as 'appropriation'. In the words of Master Kpopalypse "it’s important in this multicultural global connected world to try and promote getting along with people rather than to nitpick at everything and get people racially fired up about stuff that they probably wouldn’t have even thought to be offended by had someone not pointed it out."  People these days gets racially fired up too easily as the internet brought forth all sorts of trivial things as racist and this leads to divide, most of the time due to culture and race-related reasons.

ps. dont take me seriously. Im 6 years old.  :)

You're probably writing an essay, and tbh i just studied for an exam that included culture stuff so here goes:

Culture is at once divisive and uniting. And by culture, I mean shared meanings or systems in ways of worldview, which impacts the way you think, feel and understand the world. Very often, the level of analysis is along the geographical boundaries of countries (though these borders could be argued to be imaginary -- read Anderson)

One of the most researched domains in which culture can be divisive is along the Individualistic/Collectivistic dimension (go read Markus & Kitayama, 1997).

Individualists can be conceptualised as USA + Western Europe. They're guided by an emphasis on individual freedoms, choice, liberties which is how they create meaning (think: Heidegger, Neitzche, etc).

Collectivists can be conceptualised as Asia. Meaning is created through interactions with other people they care about and tied to others' happiness more than in Individualist nations. As such, you can think of it as group before self, or self within a group.

The different assumptions that culture brings can have great consequences. For example, make the same behaviour be interpreted differently.

Like in Japan, when experiencing conflict, individuals can withdraw and start to avoid the situation. This is actually interpreted as positive because it assumes such an action is done out of respect of the other party. However in USA, this action of withdrawal and avoidance can be negatively perceived because one assumes that the other party dgaf anymore...

Yeah a lot of examples in academia tbh; you can search for them yourself.

Another point to note is the evolution of culture and cultural hegemony. Go read Go read Huntington's Clash of Civilisations tbh.

edit: wtf is this verbal diarrhoea tbh :._.:
