[DISC] Would you be into K-pop if you had a rich social life?

I have a pretty happening social life (no humblebrag-o) and I'm still into kpop, so I don't see why one has to preclude the other. in fact I'm more social because of it (as I've met kpop fans at events irl)

I did not say one has to preclude the other..

But many international K-pop fans, like myself, don't really have real life friends who are into K-pop..

I don't see why you can't have a great social life and be into kpop? Honestly, I have a lot of friends and go out regularly. I also happen to be a very dedicated Block B and Teen Top fan. I don't think my social life has any impact on my fangirl life. I have a phone. I can always take a quick scroll through Twitter to see new Park Kyung pics ;)

I don't either, I find them online and then meet them if possible. but I have irl friends who have no idea what kpop is also. not like kpop really gets in the way of anything. it's just a hobby like how my friends have their own hobbies too

It depends on where you live, I never found anyone who lives close enough to me.. but it doesn't have to mean you'll click with someone just because you're both kpop fans lol.

It doesn't get in the way, but I probably wouldn't spend so much time on it if I had a (social) life. Heck, I wouldn't have even discovered it if not for that one boring afternoon I spent on youtube..

I wouldn't be. I only really got into/found out about kpop after seeing vids of SNSD on tumblr...and I was on tumblr in the first place because I don't particularly go out to hang with friends much + I don't have the money to spend on other things other than putting some towards my tuition.

You can probably try to make some, if you wish to.

K-pop is a global phenomena, and we kpop fans exist everywhere. I mean even if you live in middle of nowhere, there may kpop fans nearby.

Did you ever try to research if there is a local kpop scene, & events? You should probably try to see on your local forums, facebook pages or other social networks etc. if there are kpop fans. If you search closer you can probably see if there are any events where they play kpop music or do dance covers and whatnot.

And since Korean government tries to spread its culture everywhere, there may be sponsored events for that stuff too by the embassies.

Just go on your national and local forums for example, and try to research it.

I know, I'm lucky to live in London where a lot of people live or visit on their holidays. if I still lived in my home country I would probably never meet anyone.

oh I know all to well, I've found that out the hard way lol. I've fell out with kpop fans dramatically as well.. it happens :p but that's just life and it's going to be the same making friends with anyone unfortunately. don't know til you try and all that

I think maybe it's difficult for me to relate to the "social life OR internet" mentality because I've been online for so long (since 1997) that the two have become very intertwined for me. two of my best friends I met on LiveJournal 12 years ago and even though we live in different countries, we still meet up in different locations when we can. they've even met my existing irl friends and joined my social circle, which is very strange to experience, but cool at the same time, haha

especially nowadays... it's almost too easy to stay in touch with smartphones and etc, so it's not a problem for me. I party with my irl friends but still find time to chat online, etc. of course I know not everyone can juggle their irl and online lives so no judgment of course, but it's nice living in a happy medium

I did interact on local forums and fb pages years ago, but didn't really enjoy it.. so never again, nope

Anyhow, I'm not really sad for not having Kpop friends, I'm sad for not having a social life, unrelated to Kpop lol

That's really nice, I'm envious lol

I am working on getting myself out there, meeting new ppl etc, so hopefully it'll work out for me in the end.

I'm sure it will. I myself am a very shy and reserved person who never thought I could be social but I find I am very much, just got to have the desire and make a bit of effort and the rest will follow

How old are you? You're not obligated to answer if you don't feel like it.
