Ok

I expected Boram and Sunny :._.:

But maybe that's because those are the only ones I know with family connections in the industry. I bet quite a few idols come from rich families.

I was expecting Sunny to be on this list rather than Joong Ki, tbqh, but the rest are well-known to be from wealthier families.  Apparently Siwon is ridiculously rich (i.e. richer than all the rest of SuJu and families put together probably) so not at all surprised that's he's #1 by a mile. Didn't know about Sooyoung, thanks for the link!

Nichkhun's home a mansion ? his house is moderate size for thai standard. it is apparently a part a housing development and to buy a similar one today would costs less than 12m THB (~39k US$).

Sooyoung's family is so awesome. Her sister is a gorgeous and talented musical actress, her mom is adorable, and her dad is a great guy who does a lot for charity. Plus they have adorable dogs.

It wasn't his house though, that was his grandmother's. He never showed nor mentioned his family house before (though stories are 2PM members have been there before). His mother is a pharmaceutical company CEO and the father is a businessman with business in Thailand and the US. As for how rich he is, no one actually knows, he always insists that he is not rich. His family is just middle class etc.

However, he was educated in a posh boarding school in NZ (believe me that school is super expensive, I used to live in NZ). And his family also used to live in a posh neighbourhood in the US (when his family lived there before they moved back to Thailand, and then he went to finish his high school in the same posh area after that boarding school in NZ, so I assumed, just assumption, mind you, that his family must at least have some dough to enroll him so those expensive schools). I have no idea about the sisters (since I never really find out about them).

His brother is also educated in the US (though I've never dig his brother's education background, I have no idea if he actually went to expensive schools like Khun or not). And the fact that his whole huge family, from parents and siblings to grandmas, uncles and aunties always, always go to 2PM's concert (in fact, they go to almost all of 2PM's concerts from Korea, to Japan, to other Asian countries, if not all). While it's entirely possible that Khun pays for them and they've been doing that since the first Korean concert, so yeah, while maybe, his family is not filthy rich, his family is probably comfortable enough to spend a lot on flights, accommodations and food to travel so much in support of Khun.

I think for most part, it's all speculations on fans/media's side about Khun. He himself never really say how rich/poor/what his parents have or earn before. He's very low-profile, like other 2PM members (almost never heard of them talking of their families or earnings or assets and if they do, it's almost vague non-personal, since they've said they rarely want to talk about their families in public). It's entirely possible that his family is between filthy rich to middle class, so yeah, unless Khun wants to say anything about it, we won't ever know.

P/S: You seem to be of Thai origin/live there/a Thai, so yeah, I am curious about something. In my country, only rich parents or brilliant students who are granted scholarships are able to send their children to study overseas, especially to the UK/US/Australia/NZ/Japan. Is it the norm for Thais (even middle class Thais) to send their children to expensive schools and universities in Western countries for education?

Khunnie

Khun (& also the rest of 2PM) never talked or revealed things abt their family extensively & I think they prefer to keep it as private as possible. But with the little glimpses we have abt his education & family background, I definitely won't say he's "middle class".

wth. i've checked about his mother business and found out she was rich.

http://www.isranews.org/investigate/item/7908--900-.html

according to the information from Department of Business Development, Yenjit Horavejakul, his mother, was the manager of Union Medical Co,Ltd. and held 14.75% of overall share. the company's revenue in the year 2554 was 190,271,220.71 THB (~61m US$) but net profit wan't so impressive at 9,283,499.10 THB (~299k). that much higher than average but far from being an elite.

many middle class families send their children aboard for studying but mostly in middle to low class universities in USA or Australia. someone just go and risk if they could find some subsidiary at the university. UK is mostly for the upper class. New Zealand and Japan aren't popular.

my sister got a state scholarship and attended just the fair Clemson University. in fact, Clemson accepted her only because she won the state scholarship. her GRE result didn't meet the university standard.

Interesting, I never know about his mother's work other than what I mentioned before. Didn't even know she has any shares in the same company.

P/S: The link you have me is in Thai  :._.: I may have to ask other Thai-Hottests in our thread to translate it for me  Thanks though! We almost never know about any of 2PM boys (their personal lives). K-Hottests are uninterested in their personal lives, and if they know anything, they are all closely kept-secret among them  :horror:

Sooyoung's background to the public 6 years ago at the very beginning of SNSD's career in a documentary that followed the lives of the girls for a day.

Didn't know about the others but I'm not too surprised. Not many 'poor' families can afford going down the trainee route as it is.
