Girl Group Rookies Ranking in 2020?

Recommended Posts

Girl Groups usually take around 3~5 years to stay in their glory days. for example:

  • Brown Eyed Girls: they debuted in 2006 and they kept their prime time till 2011. (5 Years)
  • Wonder Girls: debuting in 2007 they managed to keep their prime till 2012. (5 years)
  • Kara: also debuting in 2007 they kept their prime time till 2012. (5 years)
  • After School: Debuting in 2009, and keeping their prime time till 2012. (3 years)
  • 4Minute: Debuting in 2009, and keeping their prime time till 2013.(4 years)
  • T-ARA: Debuting in 2009, they managed to keep their prime time till 2012. (3 years)
  • ...

P.S: I'm not saying those groups has lost their fandom or the public attention, but all had significant decreases in their sales or/and their fandoms.

So according to that fact this may be the rating for girl groups in 2020 (ONLY NEW GENERATION)

  • In The Spot Light (Good public recognition but average sales)

Mamamoo, Bestie, G-Friend

  • Fandom Stars (Groups with huge fandom supports)

Lovelyz, Red Velvet, Oh My Girl

  • Celebrities (Groups that done well and managed to survive the rookies war)

The Ark, Sonamoo, Fiestar

  • Idols (Groups that still struggle though they've been around for a while)

CLC, Laboum, Hello Venus, Stellar

any groups that should be added to the list? mention please.

I doubt Bestie will be a top group in 2020.

And while I like them, Hello Venus and Fiestar are unlikely to still be active groups in 2020, that's 8 years after their debut after all.

The only current girl groups that have been around for 8 years are BEG and WonSoKa

I honestly don't think Fiestar will be able to survive the rookie war, the only reason they've come this far in terms of giving us good comebacks is because they're technically from LOEN. They don't have likable members, and in kpop you need likable members. You need someone who stands out and Fiestar doesn't have that. Bestie is surely not in the spotlight. I can't see CLC and Laboum struggling, their companies are big enough to bring them back up and CLC does have a likable member (IMO it's Sorn). Oh My Girl does not have fandom support, only OH hype. And Hello Venus' sexy concepts flopped hard. Unless they can go back to their cute concept and sell well again (Which probably won't happen), then I'll say Fantiago ruined Hello Venus.

Bestie will not be top differently... they sales are so low... but they can be miss A popular?

though it's sad I have to agree with Fiestar... but I feel like they have the potential. their last comeback was well received.

But Laboum is under Nega Networks, an incredibly small company

I have to agree about Fiestar but it I guess everything depends on their next comeback... a good song can take them up there.

but overall... you can never expect anything from kpop... look at EXID, Girl's Day... they all took us by surprise.

I sadly don`t think Fiestar & Bestie will make it,,

I feel like Oh My Girl is going to become in the shadow since there are so many other gg`s with the same concept

I wish Hello Venus would have kept the cute concept (even tho i love the sexy concept) ....

My babes

I feel like they are the new Brown eyed girls^^

Nega Networks might be somewhat small, but they already have a breadwinner. Brown Eyed Girls can keep the company afloat until Laboum can bring in some dough. The same could be said for Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, etc.

The only groups I'm really worried for are groups from companies that have nothing. Nega Network has something. Brown Eyed Girls may be an old act, but they're still a hot act digitally which is quite impressive.

Hello Venus is probably not going back to the cute image ever again but they wont be a sexy group forever (the members said it themselves) and their individual popularity has been growing lately so I think they still have a chance to make it if they show improvement.

True. We all thought EXID had disbanded...

even after YG himself point out a disbandment?

s'cuse me they're not disbanding. far from it even. theyre on a hiatus to branch out with solo activities like how bigbang did it 2 times for 3 years, and bigbang is still on top, and far from over.

If they're not a cute group or a sexy group than what will they do? Most girl groups stick to those two concepts.

Mamamoo and GFriend falls in this since they are the first group of their respective companies. Let's see how they can survive. Currently both of them really doing good especially in gaining public attention.
