[KBS2 Drama] Hello Monster/Remember You Featuring Seo In Guk and Jang Na Ra

Really hope this drama will hit daebak!

It's still D-6 :har:

Live translate I Remember You press conference by seungshinl

PD: This drama about Love and growth, KBS and C &JM co-production

PD:  Ask if he should sit, it's his first PC, we hope you enjoy the drama

JNR:  Cha Ji Ahn role

SIG:  Genuis profiler role

CWY: LJH role

IC:  Elite Team leader

Park:  Mystery lawyer role

5000 viewers on YT also thousands more on MyK platform

Q: to PD what message are you sending with the drama?

Most important is I want it to be fun and enjoyable  - for anyone's life there is a decisive time when people you meet and the experience become very important - even if you don't realize it at the moment - and we make important choices in those times - and what are the conditions that drive those choices ?

Q: Comedy Rom Com - something new - if it doesn't work out it could turn out to be neither rom/com nor comedy

(Wow I don't know why every time the PD speaks the stream cuts out!)

A: We will do our best...... various look/roles of the leads will make it interesting - through these characters .... we will show, thriller, romance, etc.  We are working to make that happen

JNR:  I've been blessed with the roles; when she read the script she got curious about what would come after what she read;

JNR:  asked if she has to go through hardship in filming, she says no, it takes going through hardship to make good drama

They are receiving Q on SNS:  Why do you not get old?  What's your secret?

I am constantly diligently getting old and I am feeling it lately.  I am thankful when I was young I used to worry I will grow old badly but luckily I don't seem to be

Questions to SIG:

You've played many roles devotedly affectionate to one woman, but this one is different, how is it for you?

SIG:  it's easier to act out those scenes, easier to express but here I had to be show it very aggressively and intensely in a short time so I speak to the PDnim a lot.  I have to show a lot of change in this role

MC:  When you heard you will be opposite to Hally star JNR what did you think?

SIG: I felt I made it, she's been successful in all her roles so I will be 'carried' by her (laughs).

The chemistry is important so I expect a lot from it and excited

MC:  Asks JNR what she thinks of acting with SIG,

JNR:  She worried about the age difference but having researched about him some more she feels he's very accomplished and he is very good at what he does.  In working with him she likes it a lot.  He is handsome and cool.

MC says yes I agree.

Lee Chun

Different from movies.  He is having fun waiting for the next script wondering what would happen next.

It's about elite team investigators.  The team leader has inadequacies but believes he will become a great leader going forward.

Q:  any fund episode especially with Lee Hyun

A: Not yet but with JNR-ssi as special investigator team there are many interesting scenes, at first they don't recognize the leader because he is not from their ranks, totally ignores him and uploads photos on SNS etc., so he posted one himself (he's talking about actor/actor relationship?  not the story?)

JNR picks up the mike to explain what happened, it wasn't to exclude the leader in anyway

LC responds he was there but was excluded, he was in the car and checked that the photo was posted

[this is going in a very strange direction - what is this guy saying]

The MC is trying to get it back on track saying 'it really does appear like there is good working relationship" Over to PBG

SNS asks about how difficult it is to speak criminal legal language.

Question to SIG:  What work did you use to prepare for the role?

HE studied (US dramas and movies - can't catch the names)

Not having had direct experience he's had to study in various way

Q to PD:  What kind of a role is EXO's DO playing?

A:  He's playing in young Lee Hyun.  Lots of conversations between Lee Hyun and Joon Hyung.  Sharing long interesting conversations.   Lee Hyun has a very peculiar childhood.  They meet at very decisive points in their lives that has impact in future.

Lee Hyun experiences an event in his childhood and Joon Hyung is involved in that incident - can't go further so as to not be spoiling

SIG:  As Lee Hyun, JNR was like a 'cute cat'.  She likes sitting in corners, (how come streaming cuts out whoever SIG speaks).

SIG:  Curious huh?  She would sit in between the fridge and xxx for example .......

JNR:  Since I was young, I've had back problems so I can't stand for long.  Many sympathizes.

Tbh, they've had home-runs in the past but both their previous projects (Mr. Back and King's Face) can only be quantified as hits, and just singles at that. Hopefully this one will be a home-run.

Press conference for KBS’s investigative rom-com I Remember You

by girlfriday | June 16, 2015

RememberYou11.jpg

KBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday crime thriller rom-com mashup drama I Remember You held its press conference on June 16, in anticipation of the show’s premiere next week. The series about love and intrigue among the members of a special investigative task force stars Seo In-gook (King’s Face) as an elite profiler with a hidden past, and Jang Nara (Fated To Love You) as a detective who’s been secretly following him for a long time.

Seo In-gook said about his co-star Jang Nara: “When I first saw her, I thought she was like a pretty cat. We were doing our first shoot and she was always on top of things and liked to be in corners. She’d be on top of the sink, or sit between the sink and refrigerator, and it made me think she was a unique and fun person.â€

When asked about their age difference, Jang Nara answered, “I was worried about it at first. But [seo In-gook] is such a good actor. He grasped his character Lee Hyun right away. I like acting with him a lot — he’s much better than I am. I’m happy that we got to work together.†She added about the shoot: “We’re shooting happily. We’re working hard to create a lot of funny scenes. I think I’m the one in charge of physical gags.â€

RememberYou25.jpg

Choi Won-young (Kill Me, Heal Me), who plays a professor and consultant to the team, said about the series: “I Remember You is a complex drama. There’s enjoyment in solving and matching the complicated parts. It’s like the fun of reading a crime novel.†Co-star Lee Chun-hee (Dating Agency Cyrano), the team’s lead detective, added: “If cable crime investigation shows are like an americano, then I Remember You is like a cafe latte. Americanos have a strong coffee taste, and cafe lattes are sweet.â€

Park Bo-gum (Cantabile Tomorrow) plays a mysterious lawyer, and said about his role: “I’ve only played student roles until now; it’s my first character with a profession. I think I’ll appear different from the younger image I’ve had. I’m meeting with lawyers to get advice and researching my character.†Oh, you are so tiny and cute.

Seo In-gook was asked about why he’s so cool (seriously, who asked these questions?), but had an interesting answer: “When I’m acting, I don’t try to look cool. If I were a cool person it wouldn’t matter, but because I’m not, when I try to act cool it’s obvious and awkward. I had the good luck to quit the habit of trying to look cool on set early on.†If only everyone had that common sense.

I Remember You premieres next Monday, June 22.

For the upcoming episode of “Happy Together†airing June 18, the cast of “I Remember You,†featuring Jang NaraSeo In GukChoi Won YoungLee Chun Hee, and Kim Jae Young, visited the set and revealed some memorable moments in their lives.

When it’s Jang Nara’s turn to share a story, she says that she started bawling when she was watching the drama “Producer.â€

“I watched ‘Producer’ when I had a little free time in between shooting, and I surprised myself when tears suddenly rolled down my face. There’s a scene in the drama where representative Byun tells producer Ra Joon Mo, ‘You care about the viewership ratings too; that’s why you’re starving that girl for two days straight, who is not even 45kg.’ When I heard her say that, it felt like she was talking about me and I started crying. Cindy (IU) looked so pitiful,†Jang Nara explains, tearing up.

The actress goes on, “When I was really busy, I didn’t sleep for five days straight. You start losing your mind if you don’t get enough sleep. Someone would always be by my side to keep me awake so I don’t pass out.â€

This episode of “Happy Together†will air at 11:10 p.m. KST.

“I Remember You†6.5-Minute Long Preview

22.jpg

I Remember You premieres next Monday, and with teasers, posters, stills, and a press conference out of the way, the release of the long preview is the last one to be checked off the publicity/promo list.

I don’t understand a word of Korean, but the preview seems to suggest that Seo In Guk‘s Lee Hyun and Jang Nara‘s Cha Ji An were loosely acquainted with each other as kids. He was also a stoical boy, and such demeanor combined with catching him burying a dead pet may have led his dad to believe that he killed it, making his little genius a psychopath. But is he? Perhaps it was really someone else who killed the animal, and he just discovered it? I really don’t think the writers would make our hero harbor such darkness in him, but if they do, then, this adds an extra layer to the character.

And who is D.O.‘s character, Lee Joon Young, to Lee Hyun? How do they know each other? They share the same last name. It is a common name, but in a drama, it’s hardly a coincidence. Joon Young seems much colder than the young Lee Hyun and definitely gives off that creepy vibe of someone lacking conscience.

Though not as eccentric as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, Lee Hyun seems to be a similar brand of genius—-arrogant, imposing, thoughtless, and yet, isn’t immune to compassion. Yeah, I’m hazarding a guess about everything â€¦ I guess I’ll just have to tune in to the show to get my answers

Seo In Guk and Jang Nara’s Drama “Remember You†Reveals New Posters

RememberYou.jpg

KBS2′s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Remember You†has revealed two new concept posters.

Quite different from their first poster, these effectively capture the charisma of the crime investigators and show us more of the supporting actors. Seo In Guk, Jang Nara, Lee Chun Hee, Min Sung Wook, Kim Jae Young, and Son Seung Won look impressive with their piercing gazes.

The first poster featuring the six actors is set in front of a crime scene and reflects such an atmosphere. The tagline reads, “Fierce, cheerful, and hot.†This indicates that the crime procedural drama will be a multi-faceted drama with different charms.

As for the second poster, its tagline states, “I have waited so long for you to return.†This poster only shows Seo In Guk, Choi Won Young, and Park Bo Gum. Interestingly enough, only Park Bo Gum is facing a different direction. The three men will portray a profiler, a forensic doctor, and a lawyer respectively.

RememberYou2.jpg

Production company CJ E&M stated, “Please look forward to the mystery and romance that will make viewers thrilled with anticipation.†The first episode will air on June 22.

I think I'll give a try, I have a crush on Jang Na Ra since School 2013 and Seo in Guk is a good actor, i hope this is focused more in thriller than romance, after school 2015 I'm little tired of romance specially if it's a triangle love (uuuggg),

I'm hopeful he seems to have a bitter tonge and she seems tough too, I hope her character is like Lee Bo Young in "i hear your voice", please no more damsel in distress.

Hope so, tho Jang Nara mastered in comedy one  but earlier episode looks more dark because everybody died on Joonyoung hand in Leehyun past story~

Main focus is in Seo In Guk character, the plot seems just if he's born or to be made a monster than female lead...

And welcome to the thread :ahmagah:

Day-2

D-1 :ahmagah: some people in another forum wonder if Kyungsoo character ever exist, usually genius have mental issue too, lmao... LONG LIVE NATION'S HALLUCINATION~

[interview] Seo In-guk & Jang Nara to Make A Perfect Couple in “I Remember Youâ€

Posted by: Veronica Choi ,

June 17, 2015

42.jpg

The production presentation for KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday television series “I Remember You†was held on June 16 at Times Square in Youngdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Cast members Seo In-guk, Jang Na-ra, Lee Chun-hee, Choi Won-young, Park Bo-gum and the production team attended the event.

“I Remember You†is a romantic comedy that will feature some thrilling crime-investigation. It will depict a story of love and work between handsome yet mysterious criminal profiler Lee Hyun(played by Seo In-guk) and elite investigator Cha Ji an(played by Jang Na-ra), who keeps an eye on the dangerous man. We had an interview with the couple.

82.jpg

Drama queen Jang Na-ra is well known for showing perfect chemistry with almost every partner.

Q We heard that Jang Na-ra is the only female member among the cast members of “I Remember Youâ€.

Yes. It is why I feel kind of worried whether I would be left out. Haha. It takes a bit of courage to be and hang out with the guys here. However, all my colleagues are so nice and I am having a wonderful time with them here. It would have been better if there were some ladies though.

Q “I Remember You†also is your first crime-investigation drama.

There have been many dramas on crime-investigation, but I want to make ours a little different. As you know, Lee Hyun is the character that mainly leads the plot. If he’s the main dish, my role’s job is to add some seasoning to it. Since it’s my first crime-investigation drama, I have met detectives to make the drama more realistic. They gave me many useful tips.

Q So, how is it to play the investigator role as an actress?

Not bad, so far. I’m just trying to relying on our screenwriter.

Q Cha Ji-an is said to stalk Lee Hyun in the drama. Is it true?

Well, yes, but there is a reason for her stalking. It is not because she likes him. You’ll find out why Ji-an is after him when you watch the drama.

Q What have you done to prepare for this drama? Have you studied something special?

Not really, but I have been so into the X-Files recently. I really hated it when it ended its fun.

Q You are one of the most well-known singer-turned-actors.

Actually, I’ve always dreamed of becoming an actress ever since I was young. I debuted as a singer because I guess I was influenced a lot by my friends who were musicians. I love both singing and acting. In fact, I believe there are a lot in common

Q Do you have any plan to get married?

Well, I just love working. Marriage? I haven’t even been dating for a long time! There’s no special plan yet. I keep changing my mind. One day I imagine myself getting married…  Butthe next day, I’m like, “Oh, no. I should not.â€

2-1.jpg

Seo In-guk has chosen another KBS television drama after “The King’s Faceâ€

Q Seo In-guk, your last television series was “The King’s Faceâ€, which was a historical drama, now you are doing a modern one.

I felt like I woke up from a dream after I finished “The King’s Faceâ€. It was like I came back to reality. Now that I’m doing a modern drama now, I just feel like I’m working.

Q You are playing the profiler role in the new drama.

When I read the script, I really liked the part where it said, “They may seem like ordinary police officers, but dealing with homicide cases was just a daily routine for them.†I searched for information on the internet and watched a lot of movies and TV dramas that feature forensic-crime-investigation. I want to do it well. However, it would be so tragic and horrifying in real life! I can’t even imagine myself trying to solve a case of murder.

Q Lee Hyun, your role, is also a professor who used to teach in the United States. How did you handle your English while filming?

At first, I was like, “Uh, oh. I’m in big trouble!†I really worked hard to film those scenes. I don’t know. I’ll have to check later.â€

Q Do you have any plan to take part in the OST for the drama?

I guess not. It has not been confirmed yet, but I don’t know. Wouldn’t it be too much? I guess I will have to think about that.

Q If you had to choose between singing and acting, what would your choice be?

I get that question a lot. Really a lot. But it’s hard to give an answer to that kind of question-they are two different fields to me. I love singing, I love delivering a message to fans through my songs. On the other hand, it’s not just me alone when I am acting. There’s teamwork. I deliver a message to the viewers too, but I have to share that one message with all the other actors. Also, I do not feel any gap between singing on stage and watching my performance later on TV. But for some reason, acting and watching me act on TV feel so different!

Q Regardless of being a singer or actor, you are always amazing when you are working.

I want to look cool especially when I’m performing onstage as a singer. But I don’t care much when I’m acting; because I know that I am not a person who needs to look all charismatic and cool. My goal is to inhabit my role, not looking all handsome and sexy for the viewers. I don’t want to pretend like that when I am acting.

Seo In Guk Says Park Myung Soo Helped Him Become Famous on “Happy Togetherâ€

seo-in-guk-park-myung-soo.jpg

Seo In Guk appears on June 18′s episode of “Happy Together,†and he reveals a story from his past that surprises the hosts. He shares that before he debuted, Park Myung Soo said something to him that encouraged him to keep working to achieve his dream of being a famous singer.

Seo In Guk says it happened on a day when he failed an audition that he’d been hopeful about. “I had been really confident,†he admits, “But since I didn’t make it, I was so upset. I was sighing a lot in the elevator.â€

“I didn’t know that Park Myung Soo was next to me in the elevator,†he says. “He turned to me and said ‘What’s wrong?’ I was so surprised, but I said hello to him and explained that I was upset because I’d failed an audition.â€

Seo In Guk says that Park Myung Soo then said to him, “That’s too bad. I’ll see you later,†and got off the elevator.

Seo In Guk then ran out of the elevator and bowed to Park Myung Soo as he left, saying, “I’ll definitely become a singer and meet you again in the future!â€

Park Myung Soo though is completely stone-faced in response to this story. Yoo Jae Suk says, “In my opinion, he thought you were someone else.â€

Park Mi Sun agrees and jokes, “He’s got face blindness.â€

Seo In Guk will soon be starring in the new KBS drama “Remember You,†which will air its first episode on June 22.

“I Remember You†released new stills of romantic couple Seo In-guk and Jang Na-ra.

The production team for KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday television series “I Remember You†dropped the photos that show the couple’s embrace.

In the stills, Lee Hyun (played by Seo In-guk) is holding Cha Ji-an (played by Jang Na-ra), with his arm around her waist. There is a difference between their facial expressions that catches the eyes of the fans. While Lee Hyun looks nonchalant, Cha Ji-an seems surprised as if she didn’t expect such embrace to happen. The photos are heightening expectations for the scene.

061906-e1434698400493.jpg

Their embrace is said to be an accident in fact. According to a source, the photos were taken during filming a scene where Cha Ji-an accidently bumped into Lee Hyun after chasing him. It is arousing curiosity about the reason why Cha Ji-an was after him.

Jang Na-ra and Seo In-guk are said to engage in filming in a friendly atmosphere, showing perfect teamwork. Jang Na-ra is even said to have mentioned that Seo In-guk is the best partner she has had. Seo In-guk also told he is really enjoying working with the drama queen.

The first episode of “I Remember You†will air on June 22 at 22:00 on channel KBS 2TV. Stay tuned!

Jang Nara Picks Her Ideal Man From Among the “I Remember You†Cast

ck525  June 20, 2015

jang-nara-i-remember-you-entertainment-w

Seo In Guk’s charms are hard to resist, and Jang Nara, too, fell as a victim to his attractiveness.

On the episode of KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Weekly†aired on June 20, Jang Nara and Lee Chun Hee reveal in an interview for their new drama “I Remember You† that their first impression of Seo In Guk was that he was very grumpy.

When asked who the scariest first impression, Lee Chun Hee and Jang Nara pick Seo In Guk. “It felt as if I was seeing his drama character in real life,†Lee Chun Hee says. “He seemed prickly to a point of being rude.â€

Jang Nara adds, “I met him for the first time during a meal, and he really looked scary.â€

jang-na-ra.png

However, despite these rough first impressions, Jang Nara picks Seo In Guk over Park Bo Geom and Lee Chun Hee as her ideal man. His charms must have really gotten to her because this is a different result from when she had picked Lee Chun Hee as her ideal man previously on “Happy Together.â€

'Remember You' Jang Nara stalks Seo In-guk for twenty years, why?

2015/06/22

photo605088.jpg

"Remember You" revealed the special relationship between Seo In-guk and Jang Nara, which had lasted for twenty years.

The first episode of KBS 2TV's Monday & Tuesday drama, "Remember You" aired the scene where Ji-an (Jang Nara) became excited as she encountered Lee Hyoun (Seo In-guk) face to face for the first time.

At the crime scene of Bangbae-dong murder case, when Ji-an spotted Lee Hyoun, she was exhilarated. As Lee Hyoun left the spot, Ji-an followed him. She said, "You must be Lee Hyoun, right?". Lee Hyoun asked her back, "Who are you? How do you knoe my name". Ji-an said, "Well, how do I know you?", avoiding to answer his question.

And then Ji-an thinks, "It's been twenty years since I became to know this guy. The twenty years I have been stalking him. But this guy does not even remember me". Her monologue stirred up the curiosity about the relationship between the two even more.

Poor young Hyun :rlytearpls:

Just watched ep 1. I think the story is pretty interesting and the storytelling is done pretty well. I hope it will keep up and get better, and the rating will rise as well.

D.O's acting is pretty good, but I'm more excited to see him in ep 2 since it seems like he hasn't unleashed the climax of his acting as Jun Young yet.

Btw no need to quote me to remind me to watch the drama lol I'm pretty good at following dramas especially ones I'm actually interested in.

Yes, and maybe Park Bogum is actually Hyun's lil brother...

I'm sorry for that reminder, and thank you :ahmagah:

I really liked first episode, I though it would be light comedy but this was very dark, I loved that kid in prison, he gives me creeps, I feel pity for Lee Hyun, I think he is not a psycho, he is just a genius, they mature before other kids, that's because he is strange.

Actually this drama genre is romantic, thriller, mystery... maybe we won't get much comedy sadly, but it's really cool right :la:

Yes, poor young Hyun, even his father didn't trust him enough :rlytearpls:

The new KBS Monday-Tuesday drama had its premiere on June 22. The first episode mainly dealt with the younger Lee Hyun, the main character of the drama played by Seo In Gook.

During the episode, Lee Hyun’s father Lee Jong Min (Jun Kwang Ryeol) goes to the prison to counsel an inmate named Lee Joon Young, portrayed by D.O. They share a chilling conversation, during which D.O’s character reveals psychopathic tendencies. He ends their conversation with a chilling smile.

The viewers seem to be very impressed by D.O’s performance as a psychopathic youth in the first episode of the drama, as many took to social media to discuss how terrifying he was in this scene.

Do Kyung Soo's mysterious identity on 'I Remember You' captivates viewers

June 23, 2015

Do Kyung Soo’s mysterious identity on ‘I Remember You’ is becoming a hot issue.

June 22nd broadcast of KBS 2TV drama ‘I Remember You’ showed Lee Joong Min (played by Jeon Gwang Ryeol) having a conversation with Lee Jun Young (played by Do Kyung Soo / aka EXO’s D.O.).

Lee Hyun told Lee Joon Young that he saw him in a photo, and Lee Joon Young asked, “Are you afraid of me?â€

Lee Hyun replied, “I am not afraid of you. I am just curious.â€

Lee Hyun asked Lee Joon Young, “How did you become such a person? A person who is so different from others?â€

Then, Lee Joon Young asked back, “I think you are also quite different from ordinary people. Did you not have to go through troubles? Do they understand your difference? How about your father? Does he trust you? I am very curious. I am very curious about your future, in particular.â€

Afterwards, Lee Joon Young said to Lee Hyun, “Should we share one secret each?â€

Meanwhile, Lee Joong Min started realizing that his son, Lee Hyun, is not an ordinary person during this week’s ‘I Remember You.’

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Remember You" Episode 1

photo605397.jpg

Hyeon (played by Seo In-guk) is a strange man who investigates unusual events just for the fun of it, and likes to mess around with people without ever changing his eerily vacant expression. Ji-an (played by Jang Nara) is a perky detective who is easily provoked by actions obviously intended to stupefy her. Together they...don't actually fight crime just yet. After a rather peculiar opener most of the runtime is dedicated to Hyeon's backstory.

And as befits Hyeon's character, his backstory is just as unsettling and just plain weird as the modern day Hyeon. Little Hyeon (played by Hong Hyeon-taek) is extremely precocious, to the point of being a little disconcerting. Most kids do stuff like, well, play. Little Hyeon instead performs tasks that are obviously physically impossible, and doesn't even seem to appreciate just how unusual he is. But that impression changes when little Hyeon meets Joon-yeong (played by Do Kyeong-soo).

"Remember You" appears to be going for a theme of whether or not supervillainy is something that can be genetically and psychologically predicted. What makes the drama unusual is that the romantic comedy mystery genre turns the rather nihilistic assumptions of this question upside down. Can Hyeon really be secretly evil when we all know the whole point of the drama is for him to get together with Ji-an?

The production team seems determined to make this as muddled a question as possible. I don't know what's going on with the music. Try as I might I can't think of any genre where that kind of strange, mildly upbeat, rather mysterious, occasionally cornball and equal parts ominous music could possibly be appropriate. Consequently I watched this episode with my head mostly askew, completely at a loss as to where this story was supposed to be going.

That's a good feeling to have, just to be clear. While "Remember You" is rather front-ended with the backstory, we're given so much information about Hyeon here that one fact is very clear. We know pretty much nothing about Hyeon, and that isn't likely to change any time soon. So when Ji-an ruminates over what kind of person Hyeon really is, completely unable to come up with any kind of satisfying answer...well, I'm right there with her, even though I have access to way more information than she does. It's still too early to make any definitive statement about "Remember You", but for now I'm cautiously optimistic.

Review by William Schwartz

"Remember You" is directed by Kim Jin-won-I and No Sang-hoon, written by Kwon Ki-yeong and features Seo In-guk, Jang Nara, Choi Won-yeong, Lee Cheon-hee, Park Bo-geom, Min Seong-wook and more.

First published in 2007, one of the book's topics is the controversial birth of Renesmee Cullen.

The child was first believed to be a monster due to her unnatural characteristics and supernatural powers. She was feared by many, so her parents and kin almost resorted to war to defend her from their enemies. However,  she was later proven to be an innocent and kind child.

I think the writer purposely alluded to that theme, and wanted to set Renesmee in parallel with Lee Hyun.

From Wikipedia:

The Möbius strip or Möbius band (/ˈmÉœrbiÉ™s/ (non-rhotic) or US /ˈmoÊŠbiÉ™s/; German: [ˈmøËbi̯ʊs]), also Mobius or Moebius, is a surface with only one side and only one boundary. The Möbius strip has the mathematical property of being non-orientable. It can be realized as a ruled surface. It was discovered independently by the German mathematicians August Ferdinand Möbius and Johann Benedict Listing in 1858

According to Pickover (2006), The Strip has become known as a symbol of rejuvenation, strangeness, change, and infinity.
IMO the Strip was purposefully chosen because of its philosophical significance. I think it will be very relevant to the drama's plot.

'Remember You' Seo In-guk responds to Do Kyeong-soo with bloodcurdling smile

"Remember You" Seo In-guk responded to Do Kyeong-soo's message with bloodcurdling smile.

On the second episode of KBS 2TV's "Remember You", Lee Hyeon (Seo In-guk) heard a message left by Lee Joon-yeong (Do Kyeong-soo).
Lee Hyeon returned to Korea to meet Lee Joon-yeong, who was his father's murderer and was the only one, who knew about his past when he used to be called "Monster". When he came back to Korea, he recovered most of his memories little by little. When Lee Hyeon heard the recording of the conversation between Lee Joon-yeong and Lee Hyeon's father, he could recall the time when Lee Joon-yeong had turned around towards him and said 'Look, it's done as you wanted' after Lee Joon-yeong had killed Lee Hyeon's father.

Later, he found a recording left by Lee Joon-yeong himself. The recording said, "Hyeon, do you remember this? I said I would be curious how you'd turn out when you grow up" and "By the time you hear this, I should already be right next to you". Lee Hyeon reacted to the message with such a bloodcurdling smile.

Article: 'I Remember You' Seo IN Guk and Jang Nara, both were chasing after Do Kyungsoo

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+6,367, -428] Gotta give it to Do Kyungsoo, he's an idol but doesn't try to look all cool on screen

2. [+5,100, -244] Really good at acting, fun drama

4. [+4,297, -111] Who is Lee Jun Young...? How does Jang Nara know someone Seo In Guk met when he was younger?

5. [+3,688, -153] I hope this drama isn't plagiarized.. I really like the cast

6. [+1,441, -115] The acting when he opened his eyes in the ambulance was so good ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ daebak at the action scene too... heard he's a good singer too, right? Finally a kid I like out of SM ã…‹

7. [+914, -39] His looks aren't over pressuring on camera for both a drama and movie. Very comfortable on the eyes. He's got good tone as well.

8. [+945, -72] Do Kyungsoo's really good... tone, pronunciation, gaze, all good. Breaks my bias against SM.

9. [+934, -63] How is a rookie idol that natural? He seems made for this. SM has got themselves a product here.

10. [+736, -46] DO's good, best concentration!

Article: 'I Remember You' reps, "Suspicions of plagiarism aren't true..." (official statement)

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+6,724, -291] This is why people never submit good scenarios to script exhibits. No matter how good your idea is... companies will just eliminate you and take the scenario for themselves under a new name.

2. [+5,365, -201] The dates in which they were registered is not the problem here, the problem is whether CJ has any shame at all

3. [+4,955, -136] The drama won't rid itself of these suspicions until they prove that they had these ideas before the exhibition. CJ has always been known to steal ideas from their own exhibitions... their clarification is lacking.

4. [+4,444, -207] Plagiarism here, plagiarism there ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ what do you expect from a country full of plagiarism where even faces are plagiarized in Gangnam

5. [+1,032, -34] The drama is produced by CJ... and the scriptwriter who's claiming her work was stolen submitted her work to a CJ exhibition. I won't be seeing this drama again until CJ clarifies this properly.

6. [+1,019, -26] The original scriptwriter submitted her scenario to CJ's exhibition on July 1st, putting her work out to the public. Then on July 17th, the scriptwriter for 'I Remember You' registered her drama, which raises suspicions right away. If the scriptwriter had planned her drama before the exhibition, then she should've registered it then... why after July 1st?

7. [+994, -28] Hmm.. dunno what to think.. it's like the producers were waiting for these suspicions with the way they're bringing out the dates like this

8. [+970, -31] Isn't it already obvious that drama exhibitions aren't for the purpose of giving scriptwriters a chance to showcase their work but for PDs to plagiarize their ideas

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Remember You" Episode 2

2015/06/23

photo606013.jpg

The chain of events that explains how Hyeon came into his present-day position as an eccentric professor are mostly clearly defined. His motivations are what's more difficult to grasp. In most dramas the death of a father and the disappearance of a younger brother would be the spur to a lifetime of seeking revenge. Yet bizarrely, Hyeon doesn't even seem to be taking these events all that personally. It's the psychology of motivation that keeps Hyeon engaged rather than any kind of emotional attachment.

It's for this reason, and this reason alone, that Hyeon is willing to tolerate Ji-an's generally peskiness. Part of it is just that Hyeon likes showing off. I refuse to believe that the incident with the rolling chair was a mere coincidence. I strongly suspect that Hyeon deliberately placed it at the top of that ramp for the sole purpose of hoping that someone would try to get his attention and end up embarassing themselves by rolling all the way down to the bottom.

Ji-an, for her part, has the well-matched trait of excessive persistence. Hyeon won't go after his father's killer for the sake of revenge- and neither does Ji-an seem to care about getting back at Hyeon. Ji-an really just wants to solve the case, and she's smart enough to realize that Hyeon made important deductions about the crime scene which eluded her and the rest of the actual police squad.

From an analytical perspective this all seems very inventive and fresh. So I'm at a bit of a loss as to why I still feel somewhat lukewarm about "Remember You". It might be an issue with the supporting cast. To this point they're all still mostly simple archetypes or ciphers. Part of this might just be their general proximity to Hyeon. Because Hyeon flips so many of the genre assumptions upside down, that makes people who want to find out what happened just for the sake of finding out what happened a little stale in comparison.

Even so, "Remember You" is still only just starting out, so I'm withholding serious judgment for the time being. Curiously enough, the characterization is so strong that I actually find the temporary case more intriguing than the larger mystery, just because it gives a better idea as to how Hyeon operates in terms of problem solving. And the more I think about it, the more difficult is is for me to guess how Hyeon and Ji-an can possibly pull off a convincing romance when they seem genuinely disinterested in anything that isn't some sort of solvable puzzle. That's something at least.

“I Remember You†Faces Plagiarism Accusations, Production Team Responds

i-remember-you.png

Here it is again: the problem that refuses to go away. New KBS 2TV drama “I Remember You†starring Seo In Guk and Jang Nara has become the latest entry in the ever lengthening list of dramas and songs that have received plagiarism accusations.

Aspiring writer Jung Da Hee, “because the subject matter is so similar,†left a message on an “I Remember You†viewer message board, claiming that the story is extremely similar to a piece she submitted for an open contest.

“In the story, the characters are a mother who is a profiler, and two brothers, 11 and 7 years old. The older brother is a born psychopath, while the other has acquired psychopathy. The mother, who is aware of this, keeps the brothers in the basement of their home and home schools them. The story starts 10 years later, when the brothers are let out into the world.â€

She says, “My work was completed on March 10 of 2014, and I registered it for copyright on August 21 of the same year. I wonder when [the writer for ‘I Remember You’] registered.â€

Kwon Ki Young, the writer of “I Remember You,†responded to the writer, as did the drama production team. “For copyright disputes just like this one, the 2014 CJ E&M open contest only accepts hard copy submissions, rather than email. That is how they are judged, and all eliminated works are then immediately shredded. The system is such that the works are neither circulated nor are they seen by anyone other than the person in charge. Following, the ‘I Remember You’ producers have never seen or come across Miss Jung’s work.â€

They go on to say that Jung Da Hee’s claim based on the foundation of a similar story is not true, and that they have file and email records of the writing process for ‘I Remember You’ that date back to long before the 2014 CJ E&M contest.

Idol actors (D.O., Park Hyung Shik, Hoya)

tv Report - Naver: Acting idols Do Kyung Soo, Park Hyung Shik and  Hoya? Their transformation into respectable actors

1. [+1,975, -140] The three are really good~ Do well~~

2. [+1,865, -153] I like Do Kyung Soo and Park Hyun Shik's actingã… ã…  But Hoya's good too

3. [+1,763, -294] I acknowledge Do Kyung Soo and Park Hyung Shik. People are quick to generalize and nit-pick on their acting because they're idols. Hoping that bias against idol actors would disappear.

4. [+1,445, -246] Unfortunate that D.O.'s just a cameo  ã… ã…

5. [+403, -30] They're better than other idols who land lead roles despite their lack of acting skills. Kudos to them for trying out small roles first and slowly working their way up

6. [+333, -58] I don't really think of Park Hyung Shik and Do Kyung Soo as idols who can act but simply actors who can act . Park Hyun Shik's getting positive feedbacks for his acting in 'High Society'

7. [+83, -5] I've always thought of these 3 as actors. In 'Reply 1997', I wasn't familiar with Hoya and just assumed he was a rookie actor. D.O did a great job with his creepy psychopath role and as for Park Hyung Shik, I've seen him more on dramas than on music stages.

8. [+60, -1] Hoya's role in 'Mask' pisses me off. Is it because he's a good actor?.. He needs to play a different role to further assess his skills. Do Kyung Soo's psychopath acting was so believable. Park Hyung Shik's acting is jjang... I'm more familiar with Hyung Shik's acting but Hoya and D.O are also decent

I Remember You: Episode 2

by rejoycie | June 26, 2015

remember02-00085a.jpg

[Please join us in welcoming rejoycie to Dramabeans! She’ll be working hard to bring you weekly recaps of I Remember You, for which she will be rewarded with Seo In-gook shower scenes. Thus sayeth the law of dramas. —girlfriday]

Hi everyone, excited to be recapping this drama with dramallama! There are never too many Sherlock Holmeses roaming around in dramaland.

Well, I Remember You is turning out to be quite different from what I expected, which is totally fine, since this whole psychopath thriller is understandably much meatier than a mere rom-com. The tangled mystery and action pick up in this episode, and we find that our resident stalker is perhaps not as superficial as we initially assumed, while our genius profiler remains well, a genius, even though his past seems to be coming back to haunt him.

Recap underspoiler

EPISODE 2: “Hello Monsterâ€

As a young boy, Hyun is told by his father to live a solitary life in the basement, while everyone else will assume he’s abroad. In tears, Hyun asks why Dad never questioned him about the promise he made with Joon-young: “Dad, you should have asked me, before calling me a monster, before locking me in a place like this!†Dad backpedals slightly, clarifying that his intention was to protect Hyun.

Time flies by as Dad tutors Hyun in the prison basement, and little brother Min’s quiet pleas to play together go unheard.

IRY02-00008.jpg

Two prison guards enter our killer Joon-young’s cell ominously, but Joon-young was already calmly expecting them. With an eerie smile, Joon-young brings a broken glass shard to his neck and slits himself. Unable to find his pulse, the guards hurriedly call an ambulance to transport Joon-young to the hospital. Oh no, is this some intricate plot to escape?

In the ambulance, right as the guards realize that there isn’t much blood loss from Joon-young, they hear the siren of another ambulance heading in the direction of the prison. Ohhh, so that’s the ambulance that responded to the guards’ call, which means the one they’re in right now is the getaway car. As the paramedic’s smirk alerts us that something is up, Joon-young’s eyes flash open.

IRY02-00010.jpg

Flashback to Joon-young’s meeting with Hyun. We see how his little escape plan worked out as Joon-young shows Hyun his secret talent: an undetectable pulse. Hyun is clearly impressed (so am I!), and the two prodigies agree to share more secrets with each other before we cut away.

Back in Hyun’s house, Dad senses something amiss. As he hustles around his room, he suggests to no one in particular to chat over a cup of tea. And what do you know, Joon-young is standing right behind him. Chills.

IRY02-00016.jpg

Over tea, Joon-young’s first question is to ask the whereabouts of Hyun. Dad keeps up his cover story that Hyun is nowhere to be found, and then impulsively picks up a kitchen knife to attack Joon-young. Joon-young retaliates immediately, and his punches don’t land lightly for his small build. Both Hyun and Min hear the fight, and Min flees out of fear through the window.

When the noises eventually stop, Hyun cautiously makes his way to the living room, to find Joon-yonng standing over Dad lying in a pool of blood. Hyun goes running out of his house screaming for Min, their family of three now broken within the span of a night. In a voiceover, Hyun narrates: “Today, I lost my father, and my younger brother disappeared. And a hole appeared in my memory.â€

remember02-00338.jpg

Cut to: Hyun at a counseling session with a psychiatrist, explaining that memories from before that incident are blank. The psychiatrist is unsure if this is a temporary memory loss, but he suggests that those memories aren’t strictly necessary. In Hyun’s mind, he acknowledges the only things that he remembered — his fateful meeting with Joon-young, and Dad’s words that his son is a monster.

The psychiatrist hands him over to Dad’s colleague on the police force, and he thinks to himself, “What kind of child was I? What did I do, for my dad to call me a monster?â€

Back in the present, Hyun broods over the same questions as he visits his old house. His lost memories drive a desire to meet someone who knew him as a child, and there’s only one person who fits that bill — Joon-young. After so many years, he’s still curious: “What type of conversation did we have? Some parts were forgotten, some parts were erased, and some parts were altered. Memories are like that.â€

At an interview about his book, The Memory of a Murderer, he suggests discussing a personal issue, with the assurance that the reporter will publish it. He cryptically states his one wish — to meet the person who taught him about the concept of a “critical period†in a child’s development. The reporter blindly asks: “Are you referring to your first love?†Ha, you couldn’t be further from the mark. Well, actually, maybe not.

As Hyun reads over his magazine interview, he reasons that since he can’t find Joon-young, Joon-young will have to be the one to find him first. As he recalls the email that led him to the crime scene, he narrates, “Maybe the person who restarted the story that already ended is not him, but me.â€

Back to the present-present, Ji-an heads back to her pigsty of a home, where her aunt is already there to rip into her for her messy abode. The two evidently have a loving relationship as they cutely bicker back and forth about side dishes.

At Ji-an’s mention that Lee Hyun has reappeared, her aunt refers to him as “the guy you stalked,†although Ji-an tries to justify her stalking as yunno, just tracking him down and watching him. She goes on this little rant about how he’s so rude and doesn’t recognize her, but in the end, still decides to continue observing him. Her aunt is puzzled as to why she doesn’t just approach him, and Ji-an says it’s because she doesn’t know if he’s an enemy or a friend, and the only thing she knows for sure is that he’s the only connection they have to Lee Joon-young. Dun dun dun

Hyun is listening to Dad’s old tape recordings of his meetings with Joon-young. At their first meeting in the prison, Joon-young straight-up promises not to kill Dad there, and Hyun scoffs at the irony of it: “You killed him in the end anyway.†As Hyun leaves his house, we are clued in to the presence of someone watching him from afar, and Hyun’s spidey sense tingles.

In the mortuary, forensics specialist LEE JOON-HO (Choi Won-young) explains to Ji-an that the drugs in the second victim’s body match exactly with the ones in the Bangbae-dong case. Ji-an’s question about the possibility of the murderer’s signature goes unanswered as an incoming phone call informs her about the appearance of Hyun at the Bangbae-dong crime scene.

At the crime scene, Hyun observes a painting of a two-headed man, drawn in a similar style to the drawings in his childhood sketchbook. He zooms in on the signature of the artist, and recalls that his younger brother signed a similar symbol on a sketch when they were young. Whoa, so not-so-innocent Little Bro lied about the sketchbook belonging to Hyun. So either Min is still alive, or the art piece is the work of someone who knows them.

He takes a quick look around the crime scene and picks up on a multitude of details — a recently hammered-in nail and a mismatch between the interior design and the painting. All these lead to the conclusion that the painting was likely to have been picked by someone else. Could it be a present from the murderer?

IRY02-00040.jpg

Ji-an bursts into the apartment, intent on catching Hyun red-handed for trespassing, but he’s already nowhere to be found. In a smart camera sequence, Ji-an follows Hyun’s footsteps around the apartment, both sharing the same space, but at different times. She settles on the same painting that Hyun was so interested in, and muses to herself that the painting seems rather familiar.

Hyun approaches his big-shot art director friend to find the artist of the painting, and said friend rips into Hyun for speaking to him casually, even though it was culturally acceptable when they were in America. Hyun repeats his request in English, and the friend concedes defeat. Ha.

The police are having a tough time tracking down the unregistered phones used in the murders. Nothing has turned up in the forensics examination, and they figure that the murderer must be familiar with forensics investigation. Their current suspect count: 0.

Grasping at straws, Team Leader Kang asks if Hyun has agreed to work with them, and Ji-an’s defense is that she hasn’t used her beauty to seduce him yet. Lol.

Armed with her lip gloss and a hair flip, she sits in Hyun’s lecture and spends a good portion of it unsuccessfully trying to get his attention. Her flailing efforts cause her roller chair to slip off the step, and whoosh, she goes rolling down the lecture hall ramp. Omg, this is awesome.

She manages to stop herself halfway down, but another hair flip causes her to roll down in the opposite direction. She goes screaming all the way, until Hyun smoothly puts a stop to her nonsense with his foot. He teases her for rolling down all the way in her excitement to answer the question, and then immediately dismisses her answer as incorrect.

Ji-an tries to roll herself away, but Hyun holds on to her chair to make her the volunteer subject for the rest of his lecture, to the ridicule of the students. Poor thing.

She follows him out after his lecture, and claims that she just coincidentally happened to be in the neighborhood. His you-are-so-full-of-bullshit look chastises her into confessing that she did in fact follow him here.

Still begging for his cooperation, her face falls when he admits that he still has no clue who she is. He refuses to cooperate until she comes clean with her true identity, and she proudly announces that she’s a fan. She pleads with him to cooperate under the name of fan-service (do you even know what fan-service entails?), but he’s stubborn as a mule.

IRY02-00052.jpg

Failing to bribe him with a coffee, she inquires about his trip to the Bangbae-dong crime scene. His observation? Both crime scenes had purple flowers.

In response to Ji-an’s futile attempt to find the buyer of the purple flowers, Hyun states that purple is sometimes used to express sadness or death, although the poor victim who accepted the flowers probably had no idea what it foreshadowed. Hence, his gut feeling is that the murder was carefully planned in advance.

That’s as much as he can gather from two dead bodies, and asks a little too excitedly if there’s a third body yet. According to his cycle theory, the crime should have already happened, and Ji-an is horrified: “Are you waiting for another person to die?†But to Hyun, more dead bodies means more information, and Ji-an mutters under her breath that he’s a monster. Eep, don’t trigger any unwanted memories!

Hyun puts forward his hypothesis that the murderer wants to keep his corpses free of blemishes. The cause of the first murder was suffocation, and there were no marks left on the body. The forensic investigation also revealed a trace of an injection, suspected to be the murderer’s doing to knock out the victim first.

However, the second murder victim (of the Donghwa-dong case) had evidence of violence used against her, even though the cause of death was the same. Hyun’s conclusion is that the murderer couldn’t suppress his momentary rage in the latter instance.

IRY02-00064.jpg

Both murder victims had similar physical attributes, except that the second victim recently had a haircut. Ji-an is left speechless at Hyun’s inference that the murderer used violence against the second victim just because of her hairstyle. But Hyun reasons that if infamous serial killer Ted Bundy killed women who looked like his fiancee, it’s no question that this murderer also has a type he was looking for. The murderer might be killing different people, but in his head, he’s killing the same person over and over again.

Ji-an relays all the information she heard from Hyun, first showing her colleagues the murderer’s semaphore code from the Bangbae-dong case, which was an overlooked hint for the second murder. Hyun noted that the murderer left it behind as a challenge for the police to solve the code. Instead, they were turned into a mockery since the police didn’t even know there was a code to be solved.

If they had successfully decoded it, it would have revealed the location of the second murder. Hyun stops mid-sentence during his impressive deduction: “This is the best time to use the phrase ‘Your brain is an accessory.'†Bwahaha, say hello to our new Master of One-Liners.

Ji-an fumes at his insult, but pulls herself together to get her colleagues to find a similar code in the second murder case.

His second hint is that there needs to be a common location that both victims were at, such that the murderer would have been able to spot them easily. Places like the spa are possible locations where women who share common characteristics can be found.

His third hint involves past unsolved murder cases which might have been the handiwork of the same murderer. Hyun delivers a small compliment that her brain is finally spinning a little, and her face lights up at the not-really-a-compliment.

Team Leader Kang proceeds to delegate the tasks to everyone but himself, and the detectives reluctantly drag their feet to follow up on Hyun’s hints.

Hyun has dinner with Dad’s cop friend Hyun Ji-soo (who’s now Ji-an’s detective section chief), and she is noticeably delighted at how the restaurant patrons are debating if she and Hyun are mother and son, or dabbling in a noona romance. Baha, somebody has been watching too many dramas. She sweetly acknowledges him as her son, even if they’re not blood-related.

She asks for his real intention for his sudden return to Korea in the middle of a semester, and he asks for a favor in retrieving the case file regarding his father’s death. She’s surprised at his request since he has never showed any interest in it, and assumes his memory is coming back to him.

Apparently, his memory is returning in bits and pieces, but he believes it’s his role as a son and a hyung to be curious. She denies that such a file exists, and Hyun easily lets the issue go.

remember02-00342.jpg remember02-00344.jpg

Alas, she was lying to Hyun since the file does exist, except she was instructed in the past to cover it up. She opens her safe now, only to find that the file is no longer in there.

And guess who has it? Ji-an. Wait, whaatt.

Back in his apartment, Hyun thinks back to the moment he found Dad dead. Joon-young approaches him softly: “There, it has finally turned out the way you wanted.†*creepy smile* And Little Hyun actually smiles back.

Wow, Ji-an actually fell asleep while brushing her teeth, for an entire hour. Her opened bathroom window gives her déjà vu and helps her realize that the window was also left open at the crime scene.

Seung-joo calls Ji-an to report a breakthrough in the investigation — both victims are members of the same hotel spa. He admits that Hyun is starting to grow on him, and Ji-an instructs him to hold a meeting with the team before acting on the lead.

When she gets to the Donghwa-dong crime scene, she’s scared out of her wits by strange sounds, and she begs the victim’s ghost to leave her alone. She spends the whole night piecing together ripped papers from the apartment, in hopes of finding the second code left by the murderer.

When day breaks, she strikes gold when she spots an out-of-place yellow piece of paper stuck behind a newspaper on the fridge. And what do you know, the code is written on that paper.

IRY02-00081.jpg

Ooh, shower scene already? Ji-an goes to visit Hyun after his shower, and proudly shows off the code that she found. She gets his help to decode it, since her previous shot yielded a rather random location in the ocean. It’s weird for the murderer to target the ocean after two murders in Seoul, and she thought to let someone with “a large brain capacity†figure it out. These two are cute.

He solves it in two seconds flat, and lectures her that the format of latitudes and longitudes have changed. What kind of equipment is this police station using?!

IRY02-00086.jpg

She reports the new location of Daebang-dong to her team, and Team Leader Kang is all: “Thankfully we haven’t left for the ocean.†The priority is to prevent the third murder, so the team sets off to find the list of spa members who reside in Daebang-dong.

They manage to narrow down the possible target to Ha Yoon-ji, who will be on vacation from tomorrow onwards. Seung-joo pipes up helpfully that the first two victims also went on vacation one day prior to their murders, and that pretty much confirms Yoon-ji as the third target.

We cut to a mysterious man (Little Bro?), painting one of those nightmarish paintings. He leaves the room, face still hidden, and another (or the same?) unidentified man heads to Yoon-ji’s place, bearing a bouquet of purple hyacinths aka youaregonnadie flowers. Whoa, this drama moves fast. It’s a race against time as Ji-an speeds to Yoon-ji’s place while repeatedly calling her. And thank goodness Yoon-ji bothers to pick up her phone, and Ji-an gets her to respond as if they’re friends.

With no time to waste, Ji-an gets to the point, asking if Yoon-ji received purple flowers. A shocked Yoon-ji answers in the affirmative, and that alone is enough to spur her to obey Ji-an’s instructions. She’s visibly terrified as she serves snacks and tea to the man, but her shaken nerves lead her to rashly attack him with a mug.

In his house, Hyun is listening to some of the old tape recordings again, and in the midst of one of Joon-young’s invented stories about his family, the recording abruptly shuts off. And then, a different recording by Joon-young starts playing: “Hyun, do you remember me being curious about what type of adult you would become? I want to see it. By the time you’re listening to this, I’ll be keeping our promise. I’ll probably already be by your side.â€

At the same time, Ji-an bursts into Yoon-ji’s place and cocks her gun.

COMMENTS

Well well well, will Hyun get his third dead body?

Firstly, can I just say how much I love that our hero is not just another genius profiler who maybe graduated from some Ivy League school at the age of 12? Yes, he has demonstrated superhuman observation abilities and delivers some of the best backhanded insults, but I really appreciate the effort the show has put into fleshing out his atypical childhood and fascinating backstory. His intellect came at a very heavy price — the suspicion of his father coupled with a relationship with a psychopath, which ultimately led to his father’s death. Granted that he has limited recollection of his past daddy issues, but if the show chooses to resurface that (which I hope they do), our dear hero might be in for some rather traumatizing times. There’s no way your dad suspects you of being a psychopath, locks you up for a few months, and you still happily move on with life, unless you’re a psy… never mind.

The big question here is, how many monsters are there and who are they exactly? So far, Hyun appears pretty normal (he just enjoys sketching brains for goodness sake), but is it a mere coincidence that the only memory he retains in the “critical period†of his life is the conversation with Joon-young, suggesting that this is probably the incident that impacted and shaped him the most? The conversations the two had clearly covered more ground than we can even imagine, and I love-hate it that the show is revealing it in drips and drabs, instead of showing their hand all at once. The information we receive is as splotchy as Hyun’s memory, and I’m already salivating in anticipation for some of the great twists the show is going to spring on us.

Case in point: arrows are already pointing to Little Bro being the real dog-killer/artist-of-two-headed-beings in their childhood days, which leads us to wonder what he’s up to in the present. So many burning questions from Hyun and Joon-young’s few minutes of shared screen time: What promise did they make? Did Hyun really want Dad to die? Did Joon-young kill Dad for Hyun? (Are they secretly related?) What a pity that Joon-young’s appearance is a cameo, for he is the true mastermind here. Can we call him back for moarrr?

IRY02-00103.jpg

Since Hyun’s motivation for finding Joon-young is due to his assumption that there’s nobody else who knows his past, what better timing than now for our resident 20-years-and-counting stalker to show up? While the show promos characterized her as an infatuated stalker, there’s evidently much much more than that going on. She’s definitely in on the down-low between Dad and Joon-young, and somehow her obsession with the case led her to stalk Hyun. How does she come into play in this complicated past, and what’s her deal with Joon-young?

It’s hard to tell if she actually holds Hyun on a pedestal, or treats him as a mere means to an end, but honestly, thank goodness for Hyun being the mentor to this ineffectual investigation team with a heodang Team Leader. Have they even solved ANY cases before? It’ll be interesting if Hyun takes it upon himself to whip the team into shape, and the team all ends up developing an adoring crush on him.

The technique used for peppering the case expositions with snappy flashbacks actually work in favor of the show instead of dragging things out. Also, I appreciate how the show credits its viewers for being relatively smart by not dragging out scenes like Joon-young’s escape. Once we got the gist of what he rigged, the rest is left to our imagination. (Although seriously, undetectable pulse?!)

The drama is also thick on the symbolism, what with the monstrous drawings with bodies sprouting dual heads (literature lesson anyone?), and the rather extensive framing work. Literally anything and everything has been used as a device for framing the camera shots.

Everything converges on the three geniuses/psychopaths at the moment — Hyun, Joon-young and the murderer. While they each deal with their individual segregation of being “abnormal,†the biggest problem really is their disregard for human lives. Joon-young and the murderer undoubtedly feel little remorse for the murders they committed, reveling in the challenge of outsmarting the police. But Hyun, albeit the most normal one, revealed a little of his similar tendencies when he categorized corpses as mere information. To him, these murder cases are not about the human life, it’s about puzzles and solving them. In the same way, even when they’re in the presence of other people, they don’t really see them as people-people.

It’s ironic how Dad tried to teach Hyun to interact normally with other people by, I dunno, confining him from the world. It’s a misplaced move by the professor, but one can only imagine the desperation that drove him to such extreme measures. Protecting the world from his son was his main goal, but he did it at the expense of his son. In a way, his death was fortunate in freeing his son from the basement prison, although it leads to the question: Did he imprison the right son? Given Hyun’s elevated intellect, he was probably aware that Dad’s suspicions were misplaced, but he decided to take the rap for Little Bro, in which… aww.

So far, I’m really enjoying the interactions between our two leads. Ji-an’s not a fool, but she’s not the brightest light bulb either, and if he were anyone else, I could totally imagine Hyun facepalming himself all the time at her responses. It’s sweet that he’s even bothering to walk Ji-an through his thought processes, despite his initial gruff objection to doing so. Of course, our dear Sherlock can’t bring himself to resist a meaty case. I’m not sure how convincing a romantic relationship between the two will be, but for now, I’m fairly content with their bickering relationship along this path of psychopaths and murderers.

Just finished watching episode 2. Wow the story is getting more interesting indeed and I have plenty of comments about it:

- What some people suspected about LH's younger brother being weird seems to be true. To me he is weird and pretty suspicious, especially considering how he fled off and disappeared just like that after hearing his dad was in danger. But I'll hold my judgement whether the young bro kills people or not for now.

- The fake ambulance which helped Joon Young escaped had me pretty taken aback. It's because the existence of ambulance that helped JY escaped means JY has an accomplice outside of the prison, and it might be someone who's pretty powerful since the accomplice is someone who managed to set up the whole fake ambulance thing. I was under the impression that JY was a single psychopath killer before so that fact made me pretty surprised and made me questioning what the hell JY is entangled with even more. Why does he have an accomplice or someone who helped him escape? Why did that someone help him to escape in order to kill LH's dad? Seems like the scoop of JY case is bigger than expected, and notice that we haven't been informed clearly on why JY was arrested in prison and why LH's dad attended him. The answer to the previous mentioned questions might be heavily entangled on why JY was arrested to begin with

- JY (D.O) action scene when he fought with LH's dad awed me. It's so cool, and tbh it made me so proud of D.O. He pulled off the action scenes so well that it made me giddy lol

- LH and JA has chemistry and I'm liking it so far. Their interaction is pretty cute, especially seeing how LH treated JA lol

- The way they used the sound effects quite distinguishes them from other investigation-romance dramas, for the example the BG music in the beginning of the episode. It's unique and it does add the eerie and mysterious effect well. I like it

- I wonder what role Park Bo Geum will have. Will he be LH's younger bro like some people said? Anyway I'm looking forward to his appearance. I have liked him since Tomorrow Cantabile, he's so charming

I think this drama really has gotten interesting and promising, thus it made me so excited for the next episode. Can't wait!

I see you in Soompi forum :ahmagah:

I like your point!

- The other poor thing that make Min just left like that because what his father and his brother did to him, ignoring his presence. So he'll just save himself first. "A bad person is here to kill us". Poor family, and what happen to their mother must be a thing too.

- Yes, seems like Park Bo Geum is Min.

Yes, that ambulance part seem pretty suspicious too. For now I don't think LH is the monster but his lil brother was. He framed his brother when he was the one who drew those drawings. Also I think he was the one who killed local dogs and his brother really did find the dogs dead and he was just being nice by burying them. Even JY really did see a younger himself in LH, that means JY was just framed and turned him into what he was then. The line he said about people calling a kid monster and how that turns the kid into a real monster applies to JY probably. These are some of my theories.

In Min drawing, that creepy twins drawing, he wrote Hyun on red blood eyes one shirt and Min (in mirror state) on blue eyes one, this must means something too

QrLmK2B.jpg

And welcome to the thread :ahmagah:

Is it possible that Lee Min is raised by Lee Junyoung?

And I agree that the younger brother is really suspicious.

Yes.

All of the casts seem so suspicious for me  :datass:  Even the one out of the cast, like Hyun's mother, or dad's friend husband~

Ah, Korean fans decipher who's the real D.O and mystery behind him and where is he right now. It's just a speculation, but seeing how accurate kfans solving D.O role in IOTL only from first episode, I have a good feeling about this. That Park Bogeum(?) is related to D.O etc........ Sadly, I haven't watched the drama so I can't interpret the analysis LOL.

Well, let's just see the drama onwards and enjoy the plot twist. You'll regret if the deduction turns out to be true anyway. (just like IOTL that I regret!!!!!!!!!!)

Is this drama really angst? I mean, is it really only focused on murder and solving cases? I thought this was romantic comedy between profiler and detective at first. But seeing D.O cuts.....why is this drama so creepy?

Please watch it if you have a time it's not makjang one, no cliche romantic boring one, you'll like it if you like Healer :)

What happen in IOIL?

Not so angst, but yes for murder and solving case ~ from http://www.kbs.co.kr/drama/hellomonster/about/program/index.htmlno comedy I think, sorry I can't hangul, you're the master one, please enlighten me, and from other site like viki, dramawiki, asianwiki, wiki, this drama genre mostly in romance, mystery, thriller, one. The comedy is just as side dishes, one just around investigation team, they're just silly and funny, and between OTP   In earlier article media who said it's a romantic comedy set in a crime thriller, not official one. But yeah, all Kyungsoo scenes are the creepy parts.

And welcome to the thread :ahmagah:

What I guessed is.. Park Bogeum has been raised by Kyungsoo's character. Maybe Kyungsoo's character using him to connect him with SIG's. [emoji38]

It's RomCom, so, it might not be that creepy later :)

Thank u so much... :)

Yes.

It's focus in romance, mystery, thriller one. Seems more like comedy because of Jang Nara   it might be creepier later :har:

I'm really enjoying this drama so far and I love the actors! Let's see how the plot develops, because it's really interesting and different.

Yes :ahmagah:  They act really well, and their chemistry is so click.

And welcome to the thread :ahmagah:

Another curiosity, ,,, why the file of "Lee Joongmin's Death" case is on Jianh's hands while it's supposed to be in Lee Hyun's (not real) mother's locker?

Maybe the one who sent email to Hyun is the one who sent that file to Ji An and the 'visitor' in Hyun's house.

Or it might be Hyun sent it to her, he's living with that ahjumma before right?

And ofc it might be Ji An herself, she's stalking Hyun 20 years...

Let's wait another 14 episodes ahead :ahmagah:

Maybe there was something strange in the murder, we don't see clearly how the dad died, we just see the fight and then the father's corpse, Lee Hyun's memories are not reliable, he said that some of them are erased and other ones are distorted, I think he didn't smile when the killer said that this was what he wanted, that's just a nightmare.

Yes, how Dad died is so weird, in the last scene before someone 'unlocked' Hyun door, it's Junyeong back which broke the table, but we saw Dad full of blood on the stomach.
