Good Jpop/Jrock live performances (Which would not be the same without the audience)

There were previous threads of good Jpop live performances in terms of vocal and visual aspects, but for me what makes a live performance legendary is the atmosphere and audience participation. For me the audience participation makes the atmosphere which differentiates a legendary live performance from a typical TV show performance or their studio recording.

For me, X-Japan ballads in concert have always left me in awe after watching, it just tugs your heart-strings. It is these performances which led me into Japanese music scene as the live performances transcends mere music.

X-Japan Endless Rain Last Live

X-Japan Forever Love 2008

Of course there are live performances with a super crazy and happy atmosphere which makes me want to jump right in.

I agree with the Forever Love performance ♡

Also I would add Gravity to this list.

I'm so happy I managed to go to the NYC X Japan tour, haha. The live experience is something you really have to feel for yourself.

The ones posted all look fun too, hopefully someday I'll be able to see them live.

Anyway to share something from idolland, again: Idol lives are basically defined by audience participation. There are set instructions on what to do during parts of the song, which you can hear in lives like the following:

It's essentially the chanting during the instrumental breaks - it's also why instrumental breaks in idol songs are so important (and so long).

There are also dance moves that are pre-determined by fans for specific songs too. Each "set" is going to be different. Together with all the pre-determined chants, name calls, etc. this is called "wotagei". The most extreme version (IMHO) is probably this one:
