mistressnicey 25,196
[iNTERVIEW] 150420 Junhyung’s Exclusive Interview Part #2 â—†You have produced many hit songs up until now and do you have any tip that you gained from your hits?JH: Of course, I think about many things while releasing the new songs. We shouldn’t be satisfied just with making our own song, because our song is made for people to listen. I think we were able to come up to this position all thanks to the people who listen to our song, so I put an effort to make our song to meet their interests, feelings and public interest in someway. But It’s not like making it meet 100% with them, I try to take the balance in between public interest and the music we want to do. The hit songs I made were also born with that way. â—†Is there a time when people received your song in a different way than your intention?JH: Yeah, things like that occurred before but that was not long ago since I started making music. Now, more people tend to accept my music the way I wanted. At times like that, when people listen to my song in a way I intended to, I feel like “Ah, I succeeded!â€. â—†You might feel like succeeded as a producer.JH: Yeah, that’s right. â—†What do you think about Japanese music/sound? And what is your opinion about rapping in Japanese? It says Korean language is more compatible in sound basis since Korean word-end can easily jumped on, what do you think about the comparison between raps in Korean and Japanese? JH: Honestly, I never thought about doing rap in Japanese when I first debuted. I started to listen Japanese artist’s songs and Japanese hip hop songs since we started doing activities in Japan. Japanese doesn’t have similar pronunciation like Korean patchim (+Consonant that comes in the end of “consonant+vowel+consonant†character in Korean), so I was afraid what if it still sounds the same because the speed of the rap is so fast. However, when I tried rapping Japanese myself, it was, how could I say, it felt good. Of course, it is different from rap in Korean, but I think rap in Japanese sounds good when I hear it after putting it in song. â—†Do you have any particular sound or rhythm that you want to try if you have a chance with the genre that BEAST hasn’t challenged yet?JH: Right now, I’m working on the songs that we are going to release. Recently, I’m listening to bossa nova a lot, so I want to make song in bossa nova type and when I have time I think about the composition of the song. From hip hop to electronic, ballad, R&B and other genres, there are not much genres left that we haven’t tried. I think by changing and working on the arrangement and melody, we can produce new feeling when the genre is still the same. So, I want to make songs in new style without being caught up in genre frames. â—†Bossa Nova… Do you like the sound of acoustic guitar these days?JH: Yes, I personally like guitar sound so much. Up until now, we asked guitarists to perform for our session, but I want to play the guitar by myself so I’m learning it now. â—†Wow! I think you’ll suit bossa nova guitar.JH:Yeah (laughs). â—†By the way, do you have any favorite words that you use unintentionally while writing lyrics?JH: I do and that’s one of the things I’m trying to fix. I use appellations a lot like ‘you’, ‘me’, ‘I’, ‘her/him’ rather than words. To appeal the situation and feelings strongly, words like ‘you’ and ‘me’ tends to be used more. But when I listen to the song after putting the lyrics in, it sounds like it’s used too much (laughs). So, when I use appellation words unintentionally when I write lyrics, I say “Ah, it’s wrong, it’s wrong†to myself and erase it by scratching with black pen on top of my note (laughs). â—†There are many producers around the world. What do you think about yourself as a producer?JH: I don’t think myself as someone who can pull over the whole deal. I think producer is not a person who oversee everything and take the responsibility. In my opinion, producer should be the one who knows how to show/display the artist more handsomely, who knows how to pull out the good points of the artist and someone who can support them. â—†Since when did you start thinking that way?JH: I think it’s since I started making BEAST’s albums. Up until then, I thought ‘I should do what I wanted to do!’. But by hearing the opinions of other members and making songs that suited for them, I started to think from the artists point of view, not mine. I think my way of thinking changed drastically. That’s why I know the difference clearly. Difference between the song I made with my own favour and the song I made while thinking from the artists side to support them can be seen very clear.
