Suju was my first kpop bias group and they actually got me into kpop but you can obviously see which fandom i am in now.

But today i just missed them so much so i started watching their shows again, but i quite had a hard time finding their shows that are subbed? And i also saw the comments of other elfs saying that it is hard to find subbed shows that sj are in nowadays? But i remember subbed videos of sj was everywhere before. Just... what happened? Are they really losing their popularity now? just how bad is it? I am asking this question not to mock sj or what but i am actually concerned and curious. now i am thinking that i should've given them more love. Just how bad is it? Is it bad?

i hope no one will say something so rude here because im serious.

a large part of their fandom consists of older fans, who are probs married or have kids and who don't have time to sub shows anymore.

are they losing popularity amongst teens/university students? yes, but so is every other group formed around that time period i.e. snsd.

it happens when you've been around as long as they have. they still seem to have a solid fan base and can do tours but their glory days are over

people are always quick to discredit all the success idols have had when they aren't as popular anymore but they are a group who doesn't really need to prove anything anymore they've done all the big things years ago

I agree with you. I actually get pissed when fans esp newbies discredit and downgrade groups like sj. Like bitch u wouldn't even know kpop without these groups they're the one who spread hallyu wave and made it big.

I take it in a positive manner - stabilising of fanbase. This weeds out the fans who are there for stanning who is popular and the fans who truly like them. It's nice being in the spotlight but the boys have experienced it already. I'm sure they feel more comfortable now and they're only working for a select group of people who truly support them :)

it happens often. fans are so quick to call others flops these days and forget that a lot of peoples current favs are working hard to try and get to the status these so called flops have had for years lol

i'm neutral towards sj but they've been around since 05 the fact that they are still popular now despite so many other groups debuting all the time says a lot about what they achieved within their career

It's normal to lose popularity. SJ actually has quiet a long run with high popularity though. They won Golden Disk more than any group have ever won, they have multiple world tours, and despite decrease in popularity their album still sold more than 3 hundreds thousand copies.

Things that made it hard to find shows with eng subs are because they rest for sometime before releasing Mamacita (a year). Fans can do a lot of things within that time. The older ones got married, got a job and continue their lives. The younger ones move on to other groups. Some fansite masters are even married and have kids. They don't have time to subbed shows anymore. Other groups that has a lot of subbers are usually popular with younger generations.

This is popularity cycle. Nothing that we can do about it since this will eventually happen to ALL groups with no exception.

26M is good tho.

Especially for a flop song.

I don't think it's a flop song. They won many times in music shows and they won a disk award with it.

Wow thank you this made me feel better but i still feel quite bad xD

Music shows win dont make a song sucessful tho, miss A didnt win a single award show, yet still in the Top 2/3 and sometimes even at #1 on charts.

SISTAR I Swear was a flop and won 5 times on music show ( against SUJU ) and a Gaon Award too. But still was a flop in a way under 10K album sales and around 600k-700k downloads.

that's such a nice thing to say and it is very true. back when SJ were at the top, everywhere, winning left right and center, hogging all the year end awards and breaking all the records even i had times when i doubted myself and asked what if i was "taken"

by all the popularity, buzz, success and bragging rights? but now seeing them lose their popularity and all those past glory days yet i still love them and their music all the same is really reassuring. i can very confidently say i stan SJ for the music, performances and entertainment and not for the popularity and bragging right and that's why i am still here today, still losing my shit

As a group/musicians : Yes !! But they are still their somewhere near at the top, 4 a ten year old group thats quite an achievement ..

As an individual : No !! They are in demand left & right on varieties, musical, radio show, drama etc.

So its quite balance i guess,
