toshi 1,466
Anyone ever done carb cycling before? I've tried it and I used this website's plan, which is very detailed but its very hard to follow. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/build-muscle-and-lose-fat-at-the-same-time.html With this one for my bodyweight I was having to eat 245 grams of protein everyday 245 grams of carbs on a high day, then 75%, 50% or 25% of that depending on the day around 55grams of fat everyday I'm just wondering if anyone has an alternative to use that's easier and less food too eat. I've been reading this one which sounds better for me as I don't need too eat as much food (I know that sounds like I'm undereating, but trust me I'm not) http://dailyburn.com/life/health/carb-cycling-meal-plan/ With this one Its about 150-222 grams of carbs on a high and only 33-100grams on a low day and just 75-150grams of protein. That sounds much better too me. I want to lost fat but keep gaining muscle, not much muscle but enough to have a body like the image below. Here is my body now: The body I want:

Senbonzakura 390
I actually did it But I quit it Carbs are in everything. Its hard to do the low carb days You can just eat more protein and lift some weights. eat lean meats do a little bit of cardio at the end of the week after you strength train during the week, Nice thighs though
toshi 1,466
how can you gain muscle without fat? makes no sense No I'm saying lose fat and gain muscle which isn't impossible, carb cycling has been known to be a good way to achieve this. I'm just trying to find out if anyone has done it before and thinks that the new plan I've found is a good one. I actually did it But I quit it Carbs are in everything. Thanks for the thigh compliment haha
mgl 5,919
You need to put on some muscle to look like that. Just do a slow bulk of 250-300 cal surplus so you'll gain muscle but very little fat. Don't worry about carb cycling and fads that often only work for people who are chemically enhanced.
BABOGIRL 5,414
No i have no desire to compete. Carbs are life. imo looking at your pic but you don't need to do it, just do a slow bulk instead lol. And you'd get better results asking on bb.com, they can be harsh but they give u real answers Btw 222c 150p 55f puts you at 1983kcals a day... as a guy you won't gain muscle with that a5mout. Eat more
Eppo 7,020
You can't gain muscle and lose fat at the same time unless you're new to weightlifting. So you gotta pick one. I skimmed through your post but don't worry too much about grams of protein etc. I just try to stay above 1.5g/kg.

Got any links for me to read up on slow bulking? I've seen quite a few people get great results from carb cycling though.
sane 16,342
Carb cycling is based on the assumption that you can't bulk without carbs, but that's completely false. Continuously reintroducing carbs into your diet like that will just make cutting harder, and it'll have minimal effect on your bulking. As long as you're eating at least 1g of protein per pound of your goal weight and enough fat to keep your body fueled you'll bulk just fine, no fad diet necessary. There's not much to it. Just find your TDEE, track your calories and eat whatever you want, as long as it's between 250-300cals over that value (or 400-500cals if you want a faster progress and don't mind the extra fat). You shouldn't need more than 100-120g of protein. That lifting program doesn't seem like the best. Just go for Stronglifts5x5/SS/AllPro Beginner's, since they have built in progression. Yeah I've been following the plan on the website I followed to carb cycling plan from. To be honest Ive enjoyed the workout plan as I've really felt the pain after each session. See that's the problem even though I know I've gotta bulk, I don't want the extra fat.

Have you been increasing your weight/reps? That's what's important. There are no miracles, unless you're on steroids. I updated my post above, read the beginning of the first link, and give it a try. I recommend reading everything in that link in order to make an informed decision though. Alternatively you can bulk +500 cals for 3 weeks, and cut/diet for 1 week at -750/1000cals. You'll probably feel miserable 1 week a month, but it should keep you lean and still gaining muscle.
