sillysone 6,340 Posted April 15, 2015 Share Posted April 15, 2015 I'm not talking about groups as a whole, the group that idol is from may still be doing well, or may have never done well (with that particular member being the only popular one etc). From my bias group SNSD it's definitely Yuri (sorry Yul, I still love you). She used to be quite known for her beauty, many considered her as a top SNSD visual along with Yoona and she appeared in other artists' MVs, had CFs etc. Nowadays she doesn't get many gigs outside of SNSD, and even if she does they're not on the same level as her past projects. Maybe that could be contributed to her acting attempts not faring that well, or some other reasons. Even though she's not an idol anymore, Wonder Girls' Sohee used to be the it girl, like 7-8 years ago. With WG being shipped to the US her popularity kinda died down. She has yet to prove herself as an actress. Then I'd also say KARA's Hara, she was really popular. I'm not saying she's unpopular now, but due to KARA spending too much time in Japan and various scandals they had (most of them blown out of context) she suffered a notable loss in popularity. T-ara's Jiyeon, Hyomin and Eunjung used to be really popular, especially Jiyeon, and praised for their acting, had many CFs, other solo activities.. and well, we all know what happened. Another one is Kangin before his incident. He was in a lot of shows and has hg public recognition. Nickhun also used to be like super popular. Even when 2PM is not popular, Nickhun himself made his name well know due to his 'statue look'. All went down hill since his incident. I agree with all the names u mentioned as well as Uee. About Yuri, she stopped going on TV after appearing on drama and film. She probably want to manage her actress image. Oh, I want to add Secret's Sunhwa. She has the same case as Yuri. Idk what happened to Uee though, probably bad management by Pledis. That's true for SNSD. Even Hyoyeon who used to have 0 solo activities was able to get her name out there. Sooyoung also did well with her acting career. And being a member of TTS Seohyun earned much more attention too. Sunny has been one of the busiest members for the past year or so. Only recently SM decided to push her on varieties again, but even that didn't turn out that well tbh. It's very unfortunate, but I think SM's to blame. They mismanaged her solo career. He probably think there is no need to go on variety shows anymore since he is well know enough or his kkap image has been overused there is nothing for him to show or it made his ballad singer image disappeared so he decided to stop appearing on shows. SM put her in drama, they later her put her in movie even though her acting skills arent that great If we talk about attention in Korea, then Nichkhun also kinda (but he gets attention outside Korea). Instead of focusing exclusively on either acting or variety or emceeing, they tried to do all with Yuri. But it's indeed true she didn't get lucky either. He just recently said that the variety shows stopped inviting him to come on which shocked me. Like you, I used to think that he was the one who decided to stop variety show appearances.
