I've never watched it but my internet box is like hooked in our living room..yeah the entire house gets internet wifi coverage buttttt some places more bars than others and I had to watch ep 3 of exo next door (#promotion #watchEND #IWannaSniffBaek'sBoxersToo!JK!NotJK!) and I see a couple scenes for instance the mom is suppose to be in charge of some school play and she "fires" the children amongst saying other shitty stuff while the coincidentally american lady was being the pacifier and basically saying "Chill out. This is supposed to be fun and your sucking the word out of it" translation: americans aren't sticks in the mud and know how to have fun and be chill and asians don't.

.

Then we get to the basketball scene and the players led by the american team leader are beating the players ran by the asian team leader fair and square.. during the half time break they think about quitting but they don't and go with "We can beat them." Another boy on team: But we can't win! Asian Boy: Who said anything about winning? And then we see the behind the scenes asian team leader condoning what his son says.. we get back to the game and they basically start "cheating" and literally beating up the american team aka not playing fair or by the rules does the american team react back the same way? No they continue playing "fair and square" translation: asians have to cheat and play dirty to beat america.. call me a conspiracy theorist but if I'm the only person seeing this and I only watched like 5-10 mins of this show..idk..

that's like saying "everybody hates chris" is shady towards black people

the show is produced (and based off the memoir of) eddie huang in order to recount his childhood in a satirical and sometimes over the top manner. of course there will be moments where they do stereotypical things (ie tiger mom stereotypes) because according to him, his mom acted like that, but it's not meant to belittle her, but to make fun of her in a way that asian people can relate to. at least that's what i feel while watching the show. i get no malevolent vibes or "shadiness" whatsoever.
