[+1142] Haha, Wu Yifan didn’t become a professional basketball player because he was 2cm away, I was 2 points away from going to Beida (Peking University, one of the best schools in China). I remember when I got to know about my results, I didn’t cry, all I did was sit dumbly in my room. The good thing is that the result was still quite good, I still went to a very good university. I also gradually understood that, the meaning of dreams, maybe it’s not that you must make it come true, but that during the process of realising your dream, we all unknowingly became a better version of ourselves.

[+570] His story is enough to write a bitter 50 episode drama, yet he glazes over everything and makes it sound so easy, he takes things with a great heart and open mind. Young people can learn a lot from him.

[+578] Various sounds surround him, a youth is a star on the water (using words from a poem form the Qing dynasty). His dreams are shining vividly on the other side of the river, it warmed his peaceful eyes, it boiled numerous silent nights. The wind and fire in his heart never faded away, a kind of belief is continuous. He uses a bamboo poke to push his boat forward against the waves. When he finally climbs over the mountains and cliffs, a person who travels far for his dreams, in the end he will rest in a sea of stars. Yesterday he was Jiaheng, today he is Yifan, I await tomorrow where you will have stars on your wings.

[+525] Although he mentioned numerous times before this about his dream of becoming a basketball player and I’ve been touched so many times, but after watching his full speech I was touched again. On Yifan, there are many things that people who are the same age never dared to have, like his perseverance and courage in chasing after his dream, his understanding of a dream is also different from the average person, a dream to him is a promise between the people he love and the ones who love him, hence the dream is love, how deep the love, how big the dream. I believe that Yifan will walk far in the road where he chases his dream.

[+493] Wu Yifan: If we’re talking about idols, my idol is basketball star Kobe, when I was 14 or 15 I watched a documentary about him, in it he said something that affected me greatly, he said he knows how it looks like at 4am in Los Angeles every single day. After that, for a long time, I practiced basketball continuously with no day and night, I practiced until I was the only person left on the court, I even told my friends that, none of you know what it’s like at 4am in Vancouver.

[+485] I remember back in middle school a lot of guys had Kobe as their idol, and we all knew about the 4am story of Kobe, back then I think someone even made a speech on it. Yet everyone was just touched for a bit, no one really got up at 4am to play ball, no one would really get up at 4am to study either. So I really never thought that, the Wu Yifan who’s always been called gay and weird, in chasing after his idol and chasing after his dream, he can do it so thoroughly.

[+455] Back then he firmly decided to go to a foreign country. After training and growing up he became the idol star Wu Yifan, now, he is actor Wu Yifan, the hard work and sweat on this journey everyone can see. Outstanding youth Wu Yifan, you will be even better. Jia you.

[+431] In your next life grow 3cm more, it will be all right even if we don’t meet you.

[+387] A very grounded sharing, anyone can relate to it and be touched, and his courage to open more doors for himself. He works hard with no regrets.

[+366] Wu Yifan’s sincere speech is very touching. No matter what decision, no matter at which point in his life, he’s always been chasing after his own dream courageously and steadily, Wu Yifan’s youth is full of positive energy, also anticipating his future to be even better.

[+333] No flowery language, this is an honest sharing, every stage of life may shed different understandings towards dreams and a requirement to make a decision, only wish that when you and I experience it, we work hard to make it come true, no regrets to choosing it. Thank you Wu Yifan for sharing, hope that you will achieve what you deserve, choose to believe in and work hard, you’re at your prime of life, it’s on the road.

[+339] His mother’s way out for him became his reason to strive on, his dream is a promise to all those who support him, it’s not that there’s no retribution it’s that the time is not right yet he understood retribution as a positive return, the Wu Yifan who is kind and has the power of forgiving in his heart, really hope that the world will be gentle to you, you will become great.

[+325] Actually he’s only 24 years old, to have state of mind like this is very rare, his future is limitless.

His speech really touched me.

Even before he's always mentioned his mother and how much he loves her. You rarely see people as open and expressive for their love and gratefulness for their mothers as Yifan and I really admire that about him.

When he left EXO i was disappointed but i never held that decision against  him. I've always thought "Why didn't he choose basketball instead?" not because I didnt want him as an idol but because he's always said that it was his dream. Now that he's an actor I wish all the best for him, of course theres still the disappointment settling inside but right now the more important matter is that he's happy and he's doing well.

Despite k-netz calling him a traitor, I fully support his decision. I know that his decision was not a good one since it did affect the other members and the fans. But I've always believed that in life, yes it is important to put others before yourselves, but at times it is important to put yourself first too. At the end of the day, you should be happy with who you are, where you are and what you've become. And if he's unhappy with his life as a k-pop idol and wants to pursue acting, and there's an opportunity for him to do so, then go for it. He was a part of SM so splitting amicably was clearly a slim possibility. People can say what they want but I do applaud him for making that brave step. And lucky for him the people in the C-entertainment industry are all supportive of him. Seems like he has a good character, so that will bring him far. People are always willing to help you out if you are good and kind to others.

Chinese netizen comments on average have so much more meaning and sentiment while most of Korean netizen comments are full of hatred lol

The people he attracts are also kinda on the adult side so it would make sense for them to give insightful and/or witty comments on posts about him lol

The comments from C-netizens and K-netizens are like heaven and hell respectivaly.

well, just by the kind of comments one can easily say that C-netizens are more mature than K-netizen.

when we stan hard an idol, we feel like they become part of our family, that's why everything that happens to them affect us.

I met EXO in the 1st episode of showtime, with wikipedia opened to check their roles in the group, I've started watching the introductions, after a couple of minutes my thought about them "they seem so akward one with the other" and about Kris "he seems so indifferent to the others, such a cold guy; how on earth he was picked to be exo-m leader?"  after the "chicken not my style" he caught my eyes, and that day on I've learned a lot of things about him, I knew a different side of him; but many exo fans just stick with the 1st impression I had about Kris: a cold guy that sometimes is funny.  The moment I found out about the lawsuit, my reaction "Kris, what are you doing? why are you breaking apart from the group this way? exo is on the top. Weren't you happy?"  and then I remembered former tvxq's Junsu's saying that tvxq were at their peak when JYJ left, and they did to show that despite of what everybody was thinking that being a tvxq member was a bed of roses, the members were not fully happy behind the scenes. At this point, I've started supporting and defending Kris' decision bc I thought there was sth going really wrong.  "he was selfish, he wanted all the spotlight for him, he used exo and SM as step stone" - to all the ones who said those things about him, I'd like that they point to me when Kris acted selfish the whole moment he was part of exo, bc selfish people don't act selfish just once in life, selfish people are selfish the whole time. I've never seen Kris acting as an attention seeker in Korea or in China, he was always a step back the members. Kris betrayed the group? why should he need to act that he was happy with his life as an exo member? wasn't it worst when some of members who hugged him once calling him "devil" and "traitor"?  some exo-ls see Kris now walking with the giants and they think that Kris had all arranged once he left exo, but it was not like this, he has risked his career when he left, he closed Korean's entertainment door and gave up being a successful group for promises from Chinese companies/directors; I just imagine how much life were hard for him staying as an exo member, it was not his dream of being an actor who pushed him to China, actors don't produce songs, don't open music studios.

despite knowing this story, I liked that he shared it during this big event.

Overanalyzing the video (some thoughts):

Kris was most part of time really confident in sharing his story and talking a little about his past as an idol singer, but there are some moments that I felt he was looking down to floor avoiding the camera and people's face, showing that he might be hidden sth or he's trying to not show his emotions; I remember exo members acting the same way while talking about Kris' departure at that Happy Camp last year). So, what were the moments:

- when he said that his mother was the one who encouraged him the most -> 2 things: his mother was not the only one doing it, there was someone else, but he couldn't say or that in fact there was only his mother motivating him to endure as much as he can. I believe in the 1st one.

- when he said "Much later after that I bid farewell to Idol Wu Yi Fan" --> while he was talking about giving up his dream of being a basketball player or all the insecurates of not knowing about the future, he was staring at the cam (he got over all these), but the moment he indirectly mentioned his departure from SM and when he said he doesn't want to let down his family who believed in him, he got emotional and then looked down avoiding the cam and people's face.

In the video he says: "I want to be actor" and then started talking about acting, however on the opposite of what many fans think, I don't believe that Kris gave up his idol life bc he was too desesperate to be an actor. there's more than what meet the eye, I have some theories of what happened, but while the lawsuit is in curse, Kris can't confirm me any of them, and I doubt he once will say the public the true story of his departure.

I know what my street looks like at 3, 4, 5, and 6am because I can never sleep at night.

My mom knows what the city looks like at 4sm because that's what time she has to get up to go to work..

The struggle is indeed real.

I really don't get the down votes....can someone explain to me how what I said was wrong?
