^^ It's ok. Maybe more people will come around when they make a comeback. Supposedly Tablo tweeted something a few weeks ago that he also tweeted when Epik High made a comeback last year. A sign? I hope so!

I'm not that a big fan of epik high. Their song Don't hate me. Makes me want to listen to them more. Any songs good songs of epik high you prefer?

Ohh you liked don't hate me. I like their old albums that didn't have so much poppish and electro in it. There's some tracks from [e] that I like but that's all. Good songs are: One, fly, fan, girl, rocksteady, lady, umbrella, and I remember.

Their collaborations are the best tbh. Younha, jinbo, myk, drunken tiger, dok2, nell, etc.

Got this from Tumblr:

Got asked to provide quotes of Tablo “reflecting" over the past years so here it is. Please make sure that if you do take any of our translations please credit them properly click the [x] for the source. Also as there are still things yet to be translated - if you wish to be a translator please email us [email protected] or message me here & if you do read the article please comment at least a “thank you" to the translator as it gives them motivation to translate more things faster.

These articles(quotes) highlight what Tablo went through the years 2009-2011, these years were very tough and Tablo as well as Epik High on a whole suffered quite a lot. Many people tend to say Epik High should return to Woollim, my personal opinion is that they shouldn’t because that’s where&when they got their ‘scars’.  They now are very happy with where they are and they recently mentioned on how they probably wouldn’t be able to continue if it weren’t for YG’s support. As fans we should support their decision even if we don’t like instead of sending harmful remarks to them.

Stanford Magazine,2011[x]

Lee felt that his recording label, Woolim Entertainment, was doing little to counter the accusations against him and his family. “We have nothing to say about allegations against Tablo that he had fake education qualifications," the agency stated on June 7. Two days later, it publicly pledged to help, but Lee felt that his representatives never followed through. He left the label later that month.

"It broke my heart," he says. “They abandoned me."

MTV IGGY, 2011 [x]

See, it was about the fairness of it. It wasn’t about the money. It was not about how much money was coming to me. It was about the fairness and the rightness of it. A lot of bullsh*t money was being made off us. And I hate that. I hate that all my fans think that when they come to see my show, or when they come and buy my album – all my fans think that’s coming to me. They think that money is gonna help me work on the next album, that it’s gonna help me do another better thing.

The problem is that a majority of that money goes to the pockets of people who don’t  make the music, and is used forpayola, is used for corrupt business practices…But my fans are fooled into thinking that it’s not. I’m not gonna be a part of that. Even if that makes me more money in the long run, I don’t wanna be a part of that sh*t.

I think that’s just stupid – for a grown man to accept that. Unless I’m just gonna be like, the bad guy, you know? Unless I choose to be a bad guy and be like ‘Oh I don’t give a shit, I’m just gonna take all this money and make money.’ Unless I’m that kind of a person, it’s wrong for me to say, ‘Hey that’s f@&ked up, but I’ll stick with it because, you know, it makes me money.’

I decided when my contract was over, ‘Hey I actually complain about this sh*t. I have a problem with this sh*t. It’s time for me to do something about it.’ You know, I’m not gonna accept this anymore. So that’s why I went independent.

So this is the advantage and disadvantage of going independent. When you go independent, if you fail, you’re totally responsible for it. If you succeed, you’re totally responsible for it. But the thing is, you are responsible for who you are. And what you do, and what you make. And I believe that that is the most important thing – at least for me on a personal level. I’d rather fail and be responsible for it than succeed and not be responsible for it. Because at least I’d know why I failed, you know? At least I know I tried. I’m not gonna go back into that machine. I might pretend to be part of that machine again, and compete with the machine, but I will never be part of that machine again.

Osen,2011[x]

Before, there were a lot of things that I wanted to show. At that time, I was young and hot-headed, so there were a lot of things I was conceited about. Both musically and personally. So there were times when I wanted to make music to flaunt, “Yeah, I’m this talented†and sometimes I just acted like I was strong. Now, I don’t have that. I’m not overly flamboyant, and there aren’t any elements that say, “Look at me.†I just made it like how it came to me. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I became a husband, a father, and I think I’ve become an adult because the two most beautiful things in life have occurred to me.

Enews,2011 [x]

“I don’t want to go back to who I was before I suffered. I lost something, but that personally made me a better person. I became a husband, a father and an adult. The three biggest changes that to take place in my life happened at the same time. Of course you need to change and grow. And so, I like better who I am now.â€

Hiphoplaya,2011 [x]

I didn’t want to go independent. Other than my music, I didn’t have any self-confidence, nor managing skills. I had an experience, no, I made an attempt to go indie, so I know my flaws and weaknesses very well. When I was experiencing hard time and solitude, YG helped me without any conditions just because I am a husband of one their artist. Not something big, words of comfort and gave me advices, when i went to give a lecture, they were so worried my safety that they sent a manager and car for me. (laughs) At that time a place like this was was only YG. That time I couldn’t even dream about working together with YG, but I was so deeply thankful, that in the end this decision was made due to natural course of things.

Vogue,2011 [x]

For me it wasn’t surprising or unusual. Because I was restarting my work in the music industry, from which I had been severed entirely for a long period of time, what I had done in the past wasn’t important. It was just like starting all over again from the beginning. I left my agency [Woollim] when the incident blew up. When I was undergoing everything I didn’t have a manager, and I was entirely solitary. For me what I desperately need is a mentor and a family-like environment. Hyejeong and YG has been by my side, watching me work. I thought it would be possible at YG. I was lonely then.

Wired,2012 [x]

The crisis continued to build, but Woollim Entertainment, Lee’s record label, didn’t issue statements defending him until June, when it pledged to help. Lee says Woollim never followed through, and he left the label later that month.

F.OUND,2012 [x][x]

There were other labels who contacted me. But because there was a divide between the way we contacted music at that time, the conversations didn’t last long. I wanted to focus on the comeback first, rather than focusing on my feelings and my appearance. Whatever I did and wherever I went I was worrying about the music. I think it was naturally meant to be for me to come to YG. They said that they would take care of me who had been living exclusively for some time. By virtue of me being her husband, (Kang) Hyejung was worried about me, and when a phone call came that said she had to meet with a manager, she told me that she would be grateful if I gave her a ride to the meeting. That manager then asked me if there was anything I needed and got in contact with me separately. At that time the idea of releasing an album seemed totally crazy, so I think that without YG I couldn’t have done it. It was the only place for me, so it naturally became that kind of connection.

Arena,2012 [x]

: My wife’s association had much to do with it. Also, they had what I really wanted. When it comes to music, there are lots of things that can be done on your own. It is not necessary that someone should coddle you. Making music doesn’t end with finishing a song. It is almost habitual, and in it I had been alone. During the Epik High era, I was in a system where we had to take care of incidental aspects of music making on top of doing the music itself. Although we were freer, but on the other hand there were too much that was neither something that we knew how to do nor wanted to do.

ELLE,2012 [x]

I didn’t want to make gloomy music, and I was determined to go in a direction that I could take while laughing a little? There was nothing besides that.

I requested it (about other producers in 99). It was my first joint work. These days if I make music it unconditionally becomes depressing. I played piano and if you only heard the chords it was clearly bright, but at the completion it became depressing. That was incredibly annoying. I made it brightly but because it became depressing I was stressed out. Even the members felt heavy, and because they said it would be better if it came out brightly than gloomily, I sought reinforcements. They gave the energy that we needed to be bright and enthusiastic.

Tablo: If we made the first album again I wouldn’t call us a hip-hop group. That felt like a bridle and was really suffocating. Of course when we do hip hop, we confidently do hip hop. If hip hop fans listened to that song, I think they would think we were a hip hop group. Because of 1, they judged 99. The people who liked our emotional songs defined us in their own way. Each conception of Epik High is so different that no matter what, it doesn’t matter to us. But worrying about making music that will be loved by both is really difficult. If I went back to the past I think I would say that we’re a pop group, but that we have confidence in doing rap and hip hop well (laughs). From the beginning it wasn’t something that we said. A lot of qualifiers about us being hip hop warriors stuck (laughs).
Mithra: If us being hip hop stuck, it was a generation where everything was a warrior.
Tablo: They liked hip hop like crazy. But if someone said I was a hip hop musician, I don’t know if that’s an accurate category, or if I was just sandwiched in there. So winning an album award is good, but when we win in the hip hop category I’m really sorry, because there are people who truly live according to the craftsmanship of the two words “hip hop." So I want to write featurings for a lot of unknown rappers. If there’s anything we can do for hip-hop, something to help those friends be known?

Monday,2013 [x]

We had stopped activities for around 3 years. Many bad things happened. These affected us directly and made us like psychotic. So what we do now is actually a cure. We had never thought about the result of the revival. This is truly answered from my heart

HK903,2013 [x]

Tablo: Before joining YG, we were already very great. Many people love us (laugh)

But YG is the best label in Korea. When a team who had been very great for 8 years met a really great company, what would be the result? You know the answer when you do the math.

Tukutz: Sometimes, 1 + 1 = 0. (One is Epik High and the other one is YG)

Mithra: 1 + 1 should be = 2. But now it is like multiplication, so it is one as well

Tablo: 1 + 1 should be = 2. But now it is like multiplication, so it is one as well. But after joining YG, because YG has so many fans around the world, more and more people know our pieces. We really thank YG. Without YG, we would die.

Healing Camp, 2012 [x]

They must be uncomfortable that I’m laughing (because he’s had that sad image for a while now). I went to Jung Joon Ha’s wedding (famous Korean comedian) a while ago, and to congratulate him, Epik High went together as a whole. We greeted his parents, and his father must not have known what job I had, because when he asked, his wife introduced me as “Tablo, the man who suffered emotionally." So I thought “I see…this has become my job." Therefore I decided I wanted to start anew with a bright image.

People don’t know this, but after that incident, I left my company. I lost my manager and there were no people to support me. It was such an unbelievable situation to happen to one person. Immediately after, I searched for evidence. In July 2010, I provided my graduation certificate, my records, my teachers’ acknowledgments. I thought that was all I needed. For a while, a bunch of articles came out, but after about 2 days, they went back to their accusations, saying even those were fake. Before they even listened to me, they listened to the news. I felt that if they’d rather trust the news than me, then they must have thought I wasn’t a likeable person, much less one to be trusted. I thought “I guess I was living in peoples’ hate all this time.

After that situation arose, he all of a sudden collapsed in 2011. He fainted in the street. He wasn’t in a good condition and was sent to the emergency room. The reason I remember that day is because that was the day the TaJinYo trials started. He had so much stress that he had to have surgery on his head, and in order to heal, he stayed at the hospital for a while. But then in March of this year, he went into shock. By the time I arrived at the hospital, he was unconscious.

W Magazine, 2012 [x]

At the time of map the soul, we didn’t even hire a manager. I’ve heard from somewhere that when we were going to call to request for interview and Tukutz had to do all those tasks. Tukutz did not have any support from anyone, and someone had to do them. Because I know a lot of people I naturally had to do them.

When I started to do business was my worst regret. I had a lot of pain. At that time there were people who like us, but for me it symbolizes pain. Personally the time I released the albums, I don’t want to look or listen to them. There were a lot of bad memories.

TVreport, 2012 [x]

Tablo: I felt the most sorry to you two while I was trying to overcome past problems. You weren’t able to work because of me. I could’ve overcome it on my own, but you guys also.. I think that’s why I immersed myself even more in my music. I signed with YG Entertainment through Hyejung (wife), and YG gave us an opportunity. Although I released a solo album, I’m happier with the members. Because of you, I’ve let go of my negative emotions.

MKnews, 2012 [x]

“I’ve thankful that I’ve been able to overcome such an experience. I truly am thankful for both ‘love’ and ‘hate’. Because of what happened, I’ve learned to cherish the people around me. I’ve come to stop thinking about negative things,†said Tablo. “I’ve thought back to a time when I was happy. It didn’t matter when we [Epik High] didn’t earn money in the beginning. We flew in the past…we can’t fly right now, but we made this album while keeping the thought that we’re at least running.†(Tablo)

Ohmystar,2012 [x]

“I personally think that a musician should showcase a new side of him/herself with every new album release,†said Tablo. “There were positives and negatives with every album, but thankfully everyone seems to forget about the negatives. They told us that electronic music was rotten during ‘Day of Peace’; that electronic noises in hip-hop were an abomination during ‘Fly’. We’re not changing who we are; it’s just the concept, so there’s no need to take it so seriously. Many people are mistaken in that we changed because we changed labels.

I guess some people want them to return to Woollim because they don't like YG. But honestly they should be were they are happy. I personally prefer Epik High's old albums and Epilogue was the reason why I'm a High Skooler, but I do like the new one and it's not like I won't support them anymore. I guess we should always remember that when Tablo received all that hating just because he "supposedly" didn't go to Stanford he was left by himself to defend his name and career. It shouldn't be this way, after all every time there's a scandal about something the record company helps the artists, which Tablo made really clear they didn't.

I remember I was so disappointed to hear that when I found out about it. But things change and they already moved on. Let's all do the same for Epik High's sake ^^

Mm yeah they're more happier now than before. I heard there were rumors about Epik high coming back in December or so but I still wonder about the album that was worked on but never released. Idk maybe it'll get pulled up when there's time for them.

Welcome to the thread btw. ~

Ohh, yeah. I wanna hear that material too.

Hey, thanks ~

I'm actually glad the forum has one cause if it didn't then the forum would be incomplete LOL

So far I think they've just been doing shows at festivals and universities. Sigh I wish YG wouldn't let out so many artists T__T

:3 The thread isn't usually very active because I don't think theres a lot of Epik high fans compared to other groups. But I"ll be updating the thread soon on what they've been doing even if no one really replies lol..

Ohh. It's alright, I'm here and I'll try to be active cause I love Epik High and well... I love Tablo too LOL anyways you can count on me!

By the way, why don't you post the video that Tablo talks about his solo album songs? ^^ Or the thread is just for Epik High as a group?

There was a video about him talking about the solo album songs? :o I haven't seen it but if I did I would've posted it >_<. No the thread can both be about any of the members and the group in general.
