A bromance that brings grown Japanese women to tears. Yuzuru Hanyu and Javier Fernandez these guys are training partners, competitors and most importantly, best friends. I mentioned a language barrier because english is neither of their first languages, but it's the only way they communicate. And it's also a known fact that Yuzuru Hanyu's English is at a middle school Japanese student's level, so it's amazing that their friendship even sparked 2 years ago when Yuzuru started working with Javier's coach in Toronto and actually knew no english at aaaaallll. And they've maintained said relationship and have become this close. Basically, Javier just beat Yuzuru at the figure skating world championships and became the first Spaniard to win the world championships in history, but this also kept Yuzuru from taking the title of first Japanese man to win two consecutive world championship titles in a row ( Because he got gold last year). But even so, Yuzuru was still happy for his friend. Javier seeing his wining score, and Yuzuru looking happy for him. Rough translation of an interview from after the event: “[Yuzuru] said he regretted his performance and that he had mixed feelings, regret and happiness for Javier. But 7/8 he felt regret and kept crying. Javier tried to comfort him, but Yuzuru kept crying while repeating 'I’m not crying, I’m not crying'. Javier told him 'I won this time but in my heart YOU will always be the champion'. Then Yuzuru said to himself again 'Oh, what a nice person Javier is'. †Like, friendship goals, tbh. more cuteness and them being precious. I'm fangirl trash, i know. I'm sorry.
