What are your thoughts on EXO promoting as one group?

In my opinion, I think it was smart of the company to try out promoting EXO as a 12 member group the past couple of comebacks, but still produce two different albums based on language (i.e. Chinese and Korean language albums). Personally, I liked the subgroups, but since the Wolf promotion went well in terms of sales, do you think SM will continue to promote EXO - namely in Korea - as one group?

If they keep it up the pro exo-k fans will start to bitch and complain....causing minor to major discord in the overall fandom lol

u can kind of see it now in the wolf drama mv thread

I'll be sad when/if they split up again (which a lot of people are saying is gonna happen when they comeback next).

How do people even make those predictions? Is there any evidence that it's going to happen?

I have no idea lol I think because they debuted as two groups, no one expects them to stay as one for long. So everyone is just waiting for them to be split up again, and speculating that their next comeback is when it'll happen.

It'd be nice if they split up again. Aren't they meant for different markets, anyway

But that's gonna be sad. I just want them to promote as one group

I don't like it and I want them to go back into units. I'm getting more and more frustrated at the direction this group is going in because I was under the impression that EXO-K and EXO-M was the setup. Two different groups that come together every once in a while and performance as 12. I became an EXO-K fan, not an 'EXO' fan, because again, I thought the dynamic was K and M.

It they promote together the point of 2 albums is fucking useless and just a way to suck up my money.

It makes me dislike SM and makes me not want to buy anything from them

If they start promoting as one permanently, I'm not buying two albums. I don't want them to perform as 12 for every performance. Yeah the whole switching out things is cool on stage, but it would be better if that was a special performance and not for every damn performance.

EXO-M did well promoting in China last year, I don't know why SM would mess with that. Now they're hardly promoting in China, they have 8 Korean members singing in the Chinese version causing it to come out as gibberish instead of Chinese, and all the stages look so crowded.

They did well promoting EXO in Korea this year, but I want Korea to be for EXO-K and China to be for EXO-M. The Korean members don't know Chinese well at all and some of the Chinese members aren't all that great at Korean, so to always have them promote together is stupid.

I'm pretty sure Koreans would be much more accepting of a 6 member boy group to a 12 member boy group. Looks like another Super Junior to them and we can all see how Super Junior are viewed.

I love both groups (admittedly I have more biases in EXO-K so maybe them a bit more) but I want them to have their own spotlight. Isn't that what the plan was to begin with? One group separate into two sub-groups and gain a large fanbase. It's freaking stupid to have them merge into one large group permanently after only their debut mini album. It's annoying, it's stupid, and doesn't make sense.

If you're going to promote as one group I'm only buying one album because I no longer have "two" groups to support

I got to know them as EXO (few weeks ago) and start to really like them as EXO (since growl), so for now, I can't really imagine them being split up.

The marketing strategy is still a really good move though. I can see them promoting as K & M for a new single/EP and coming back again as one to promote a new full album. That's what they're doing now as they said in the latest COOL magazine interview, so why not for the future, makes sense.

If this group promotes as 12 from here on out, I'll be pissed, I'll probably have a permanent headache, and my whole stanning experience will be less enjoyable. I do not want it to be like this.

Same. It just makes more sense to have them split up and promoting in their separate countries while coming together for a few special performances.

Half of the Weekly Idol episode was them guessing which member was in which sub-group. Seeing them perform as 12 on stage makes it look like I'm watching a musical or something. It looks to crowded and I honestly don't like it.

And even in the Korean version of growl, Luhan has more screen time than most of the Korean members and more lines. Well it's whatever. If SM does this I'm just not going to buy albums anymore. I might buy one, but I'm not buying the Chinese version since they're technically on the Korean version anyways

This.

But i think they should alternate, initially i was opposed to them promoting as a group but when i saw them together performing and on variety and become closer as a group i really enjoyed it, but i think if they carried on doing this we would all get fustrated at the members themselves not getting enough spotlight, and like someone said above its difficult for exo to promote in both korea and china as 12.

It works in korea because the chinese members can all speak korean relatively well so exo can split off and do different variety at the same time e.g. beatles code etc but in china they have stay together because of the language barrier.

But i think sm will revert to their subunits, because if you look at the album, each member's sub unit is still clearly stated, and it actually makes more business sense to promote separately at the same time instead of promoting in one area than movin on to the next.

I think SM wants the fandom to become more loyal to the whole "We are one" set-up.. force exclusive exo-k stans to get to know exo-m & vice versa. I don't really care but I don't think it's permanent (I'm sure c-exotics want exo-m back).
