KBS gave JYJ fans a faint hope for broadcast activities?

Recommended Posts

With fans endlessly asking for answers, KBS has made a short announcement concerning JYJ’s appearance at the station

On August 31, KBS wrote on its official page saying it understands the Free Trade Commission’s orders for SM Entertainment and the Korea Pop Culture and Arts Industry Coalition to stop interfering with JYJ’s activities.

Concerning JYJ’s appearance at the broadcast station, KBS wrote, “The heads of each program have been making their own decisions on which artists will appear. Depending on the kind of program, the actors and singers will be casted.â€

Ever since 2009, JYJ has not appeared on KBS as singers during its lawsuit battle with SM Entertainment.

Even if FTC has told SME to back off, if they let JYJ in, they are potentially facing a boycott from SME.

So if SME gets pissy about it enough, they could stop sending f(x)/dbsk/shinee/snsd to the programs

did you intentionally forgot about EXO? LOL

Why doesn't a broadcast company just give them a comeback special, everyone would watch it.

Are they that worried that SM would boycott their broadcasting channel? Who would that really hurt more though. . .

It happened in early 2009 and eventually KBS asked SM to let SNSD to go on their Music Bank show after they won the first 2 awards without appearing.

But people still watched Music Bank right? It happen to PSY too but I don't see how that effects Music Bank at all.

Sure viewership might go down a little but I thought the viewership for music shows sucked anyways.

If SM were to boycott KBS variety shows, music shows, dramas etc. wouldn't it hurt SM more?

I doubt they'd play anything SM related music, CFs on KBS.

The advertising companies pay for the CFs to air, so it's KBS's loss if they chooses not to air them; same with dramas. However, SM could go to MBC & SBS while whose artists will KBS go to ? Obviously YG artists could be good but they don't go on variety/music shows that much anyways. Also, the benefit from letting JYJ appear on their show doesn't come close to the loss from the boycott from SME. It sucks but it is how business works. If I were KBS, I would have done the same.

what if three major broadcast companies let JYJ appear...will SME still stick with his ego ?

if they are sticking with their ego

that's basically admitting they didn't want JYJ on public broadcasts and won't allow it + involved in the whole boycott thingy

lulz, YG is the last company that would rescue KBS in its time of need. XD

In the full translation, KBS says:

"Actors and singers will be invited according to the individual program's needs."

Basically they're saying "We don't need JYJ"

Basically passing the buck for blame... it'll just be coincidence if no one happens to allow JYJ on their shows, of course.

I was giving some artists that could have the same luring power as SM's artists. I'm well-aware of YG and KBS conflict

I would assume so. SME stuck with it during MNET, during KBS, and now during Cyworld.

SME always gets what they want, regardless of how much time passes.

It's a dangerous move tho and it's probably not gonna happen. SME can always go interact with their Chinese fans anyway

Meh, KBS is the infamous King of BullShit.  I ain't buying anythng they're saying.  Besides, JYJ's going back to Japan industry, who needs Music Bank now?  They'll prolly appear in tons of variety show in Japan, so Korean industry can dwell in their shits.

And after JYJ got all hyped up in Japan, you people just mark my words, the first thing Korean industry will say is 'Look, I told you Hallyu wave ain't dying in Japan.  Can't you see our JYJ's popularity there?'

As if they had made that many contribution to JYJ anyway
