i just checked and the ratings were 4.1% (Nielsen) for ep 3

It is better than ep.2 but worse than 1 :/  I am hoping it eventually rises to 6-7% range

yup, I hope so. Slow but constant increasing is much better than stuck at the same number.

Btw, how did you check it? I really had a hard time trying to browse TNMS/Nielsen page, lol.

Maybe I should learn korean

Just watched all three episodes and they are going really fast with the romance so i guess there are going to be some major things comming, also i've heard from people who read the manga that Shi Hoo got his own girl i hope they going keep this cuz im not down for another Second lead syndrome, he did say in ep 2 'whats the need to love a human' felt kinda like foreshadowing

yup. Theres someone in Soompi forum who said this, and Im agree with him. It contains spoiler for the webtoon version tho, bcuz he mainly talked about how the scriptwriter of the drama want to take the drama to another direction, different from webtoon. In short, maybe this drama wont be only about romance.

I believe, the writer will be more focusing on the issues and prejudices between humans and vampires than the romance itself. In the webtoon, it took BMR a long time to accept JJM, although she didn't know that he hated vampires that much. When he discovered the truth, he was shocked and stayed away from BMR... until he realised that it didn't matter. BMR even tried to kill herself for being seen as a vampire and as a monster. In the webtoon, one woman had been killed and humans started suspecting vampires. BMR was finally accepted at school but the problems between humans and vampires within society were never really solved. The writer has invented a lot of elements which weren't in the webtoon: sunprotection, the different kind of punishement for vampires, VCS... showing how vampires aren't considered as equal at all, they are dependant on VCS... they have to hide their true identity.

I don't see as something negative, the both get closer quicker than expected because JJM will have to see what it really means to be a vampire and the prejudices they are facing.

The Director for this drama is known for his melodramatic dramas, i hope we won't get sad ending

the drama he worked on were Winter Sonata (asst.), Sorry I Love You, Autumn in My Heart etc

now that I think of it, Im afraid, if we get a sad ending, maybe it will be related to Han Shi Hoo.

Even now, I already feel really bad for him. He doesnt want Mari to be with Jaemin, but hes trying hard not to block them to be together (at the start of ep 3). He really care about Mari more than he care about himself. :rlytearpls:

When I saw HSH and Jaemin fight in ep 4 preview, I was thinking "HSH will easily win, but he definitely wont hurt Jaemin too much. Its not a big problem." But it could be a big problem because hes already in VCS blacklist. Maybe they wont just sit and watch.

I could see HSH become a tragic hero :._.:

Orange Marmalade: Episode 3

http://www.dramabeans.com/2015/05/orange-marmalade-episode-3/

OM3-00474a.jpg

Awww, what a sweet confession, on both of their parts. I’m happy that Jae-min and Ma-ri finally got on the same wavelength, because I would much prefer to see them fall in love sooner rather than later, and spend our time exploring the fallout when Jae-min learns that Ma-ri is the thing he hates most. I like that Ma-ri’s love for Jae-min is teaching her to be more confident and take risks, and I hope that falling for Ma-ri does the opposite for Jae-min. He could do with a dose of introspection and maturity, and learn to be more accepting of people who are different than he is. Or at least to realize that not everyone is like him.

It’s so cute, watching Jae-min learn that the world doesn’t revolve around him. His expression when Ma-ri said that not everyone wants to be popular and the center of attention, was just too cute. He’s so used to being good at everything and having people love him for it, he has no idea that some people may not want to be a focal point. He’s not really arrogant, at least not in a mean way, it’s just that he takes his popularity and talent for granted and honestly has no idea that someone might actually want to fly under the radar. In that sense, meeting and falling for Ma-ri is going to be very good for him. Seeing her slowly but surely topple him off his self-erected pedestal is going to be so fun.

OM3-00118.jpg

As much as I love our main couple, though, I find myself drawn strongly to Shi-hoo as well. He has the saddest eyes, and I want to know what changed him from the sweet, caring boy at the wedding to this angry, reckless young man we know now. I’m certain it involves his parents and their punishment, and I’m dying of curiosity to find out what they did to earn it. I have a sick feeling that whatever it is, Shi-hoo blames himself. He’s so potentially self-destructive, I almost think he’s trying to get himself the same punishment his parents are currently enduring.

But what I appreciate about Shi-hoo, and also what breaks my heart, is his willingness to step back for Ma-ri’s happiness. He’s not always (or even usually) gracious about it — he’s very vocal that her attraction to a human is stupid and reckless. Not to mention pointless, since the moment Jae-min learns her secret, he’ll turn on her, and in that sense Shi-hoo is giving Ma-ri some very good advice. But he sees the positive changes in her, and puts her feelings before his own. Not that he isn’t prepared to fight for her, since he’s not shy about getting in Jae-min’s face and pushing his buttons where Ma-ri is concerned. He not even above threatening to tell Jae-min that Ma-ri is a vampire, just to try to force the issue and cause a rift between them. But in the end, the sensitive and caring boy that we saw at the wedding, the one who worried about the boy who was so lonely and upset, wins out. He’ll tamp down his own wants and feelings if it means Ma-ri will be happy, even if he knows it’s only temporary.

I really love the pacing of this show, which feels languid and relaxing while still delivering a lot of information. I learned a lot about vampires in this episode without even realizing it, because there’s no exposition fairy — the details just come out in natural conversation without feeling stilted. The writing really flows in that sense, and I love that I never feel, as a viewer, that I’m being spoken at or that a scene has to take a pause to teach me something. It all just happens naturally, which feels very real and allows the scenes to breathe. All in all, I really appreciate where this show is going and how it’s taking us there, and I hope it stays on this track all the way through. Do you hear me, Show, don’t change a thing! You might be strange and different, but we love you just the way you are. Sweet vampire blood and all.

This drama is too good y'all. I might read the manwa too tbh

hey, youre Tokyo Ghoul fan, right?

You know, before I found out about Orange Marmalade, I was wondering, what if theres a story about someone like Touka, who detest herself and her own identity as a human eater, then trying to live the 'normal' life of humans, but she also fell in love with a human (unlike Touka with Kaneki).

Orange Marmalade kinda fulfilled my fantasy about that, lol (even tho its vampire this time, not ghoul). Maybe thats one of the reason why this drama easily became my favorite, also the webtoon.

I love tokyo ghoul :rlytearpls:

The girl also kinda reminds me of touka  it has a few similarities with TG like throwing up after eating etc etc.

Ikr!

When I saw Mari throwing up after eating, I was like "Eh, where did I see this before?"

Now I wonder if the manga authors were inspired by each other's work :imstupid:

Also, I think it would be good if they make VCS in the drama to be like CCG in Tokyo Ghoul, but I guess they wont go that far, as vampires and humans had made peace treaty.

AOA’s Seolhyun dazzles in a hanbok in “Orange Marmalade†still cuts

Recent stills of AOA’s Seolhyun have caught fan attention as she dazzles in a traditional hanbok on the set of her latest drama KBS 2TV’s Orange Marmalade.

While the previous trailers and teasers have focused on the leading cast in their modern day high school setting, the newly released still cuts of the idol actress showcase a different mood.

CF3JQawUEAAr9p2.jpg

Set in the Joseon Dynasty, the photo shows Seolhyun in a natural forest setting. Although surrounded by beautiful flora, her expression seems distressed as she walks to the river to finish some errands.

The scene may be a reference to the drama’s peace agreement between humans and vampires, creating a backstory for the love triangle that may bloom among her character and those of Yeo Jin Goo and CNBLUE’s Jonghyun.

these BTS are interesting. I was wondering if Mari will finally release her vampire power and save Jaemin, but maybe not. Shi Hoo will be there too. So, who will be the one to save Jaemin, Mari or Shi Hoo?

i felt that this drama has serious case of bipolar. it gave us all sort of revelations and then all of sudden we got a joseon ver of them :derp:  :derp:

so weirddddd :imstupid:  :imstupid:

it's like watching 2 different dramas.i'm confused

lol ikr. I've been thinking about it ever since the first time they talked about the joseon era in twitter.

The transition between the first part (the present time, ep 1-4) to the second part (joseon era) seems kinda weird, too. I dont understand what happened to Mari and Jaemin at the very end of ep 4.

I think its even more weird if theres some connection between the characters in joseon era and present time, like memories? It sounds so impossible.

Ah well, I need to watch it with eng sub first anyway. Besides, even with all the weirdness, ep 4 really shocked me (in a good way, somehow). And the story of Joseon era seems interesting, too.

So proud of Lee Jonghyun. He did really well this episode.

Yeo Jin Goo's acting is a force of nature.

I still like the drama, but I think the script is confusing. Also there seemed to be a lot of intense scenes in episode 4 that just happened in such rapid succession that it all just seemed a bit disjointed.

Wonder if they'll just plunge to Joseon era from minute 0 of the next episode and if they'll show no present scenes at all till episode 9... Still onboard the drama train, but it sure is a bumpy and unpredictable ride...

According to the previous info from fans' twitter, seems like it will be totally Joseon era until episode 8 or 9, then it will start back again to the present time. I think maybe its better that way than mixing the present scenes with joseon scenes, it will be more confusing imo.

I think this drama is a total experiment from the director and scriptwriter. It feels like the production didnt follow the typical way of kdramas at all. And maybe also bcus they were forced to fit all the story into 12 episodes. Thats why ep 3 and 4 were like that. It didnt seem disjointed for me, but the unusual rapid succession is very true. Maybe it wont be like that if they used 2 episodes for all those events.

The rating went down for ep 4. Not sure if its bcus of these reasons. Im curious about dramabeans review for this episode, lol.

I actually like this kind of genre, with all those intense events and emotion roller coaster. But I bet some people will find it shocking and confusing.

The only thing I need is an explanation about some things, VCS and all their stuff, what happened to Mari and Jaemin, etc. Hopefully they could explain it all in acceptable way in later episodes (ep 9 or 10, I guess?).

Im also interested in how humans from Joseon era could handle war against vampires with that kind of power. So I'll definitely onboard until the end, lol

I watched ep 4 with eng sub, jaemin was such an ass to shi hoo

Yup. Jaemin's character is frustrating for me, too. Especially in ep 4.

But Yeo Jin Goo's acting makes the character acceptable for me. I could feel his emotion very well. Hes really such a great actor.

All in all, the leads' acting here is almost flawless for me. Sometimes I feel like Mari is less emotional, but maybe bcus her character supposed to be passive and the opposite of Jaemin, and YJG successfully stole the highlight this time.

lol everyone on twitter that watched orange marmalade yesterday are confused af

as expected, lol.

I think the most confusing part was the transition to Joseon era. The subway part.

Mari acted weird, Jaemin's vision, then boom. Everything about it was so weird and confusing, lol.

i hope the PD gonna explain in the drama why such transition to Joseon period is needed. and there's a flow/connection between the present and joseon period

if not like i said we'll feel as if we're watching 2 different dramas at the same time

I agree that on one side I like the way they're conducting the drama because it's definitely fresh and not typical/formulaic k-drama script. It's usual to see flashbacks to past times in dramas (or time-travel dramas) but not so much dramas where whole storylines happen in different eras for consecutive episodes.

I hope though we can see the connecting thread and that us viewers can understand the reason *why* we went back hundreds of years and at such a timing in the present time narrative.

I think the end was kind of of a double-shocker because on on side it's hard to understand what happened to Jaemin and Mari after that drowning accident, e.g. that train scene was cryptic. Then immediately after that getting full Joseon preview without an explicit transition to it in the episode (even though I already knew we would have a Joseon storyline for these 4 eps) made it a complete mental breakdown lol.

This one episode a week thing is torture, I need answers!

This is just my guessing, bcus I still want to stay faithful to the drama and forcing myself to say that the Joseon part is necessary.

Imo, even tho the webtoon has 9.9/10 rating on Naver, for me its not totally perfect. The setup and world setting are so good, but the story focused so much on the romance (bcus its a shoujo manhwa/girls manhwa) so theres no real resolution for conflict between humans and vampires. I myself think, if the writer also explored that part more, it could be a bigger hit.

Maybe, the director and scriptwriter for the drama also think like me, so they want to explore the conflict part more, started from Joseon era when the peace treaty was made. So if my guessing is right, our three leads will play an important role for that peace treaty. And maybe, in present time, they will also play an important role for the resolution of conflict between humans vampires.

Well, thats just my guessing tho, or maybe more like how I want it to be, lol. Even tho I dont like the idea of 'reincarnation' and stuff like that.

If my guessing is correct, actually they have enough materials for 16 or 20 episodes or even more. Why does it have to be only 12 episodes. I think thats one big problem for this drama. Maybe KBS didnt really provide the production team with what they need.

But still, Im confused and dissapointed with the transition part to Joseon era at the end of episode 4. Its so confusing, lol.

the recent episode killed me :(

anyone have theories on what happened?

I believe Jung Jae Min lost his memory and instead is recalling both memories from his past and even past life but who knows XD

But in a way that's really cute how they're fated to love in every life.

However the corny typical losing memory part had me rolling my eyes for days XD

610138e4b51fc836f90cae2dc01f28b4.jpg

Yea, as for now it seems exactly like what you said.

Also they both transferred school? Not sure about it since the uniform doesnt seem different from before, but how come Mari didnt transfer school after her identity exposed?

Jaemin losing his memory, its like the director and scriptwriter saying "Ok, after all those events in episode 4, let us give you the ultimate typical twist. Amnesia. So we can forget everything, back to the start again, with a new and fresh story in Joseon era" :imstupid:

And I was like...  :unimpressed:  :unimpressed:  :unimpressed:

But the moment when he asked "Do I know you?" to Mari was quite emotional for me :rlytearpls:
