So no Mari's friends and also no han si hoo's crazy 'gf'?

Im afraid so... Maybe it will turn into a full melodrama and romance, with vampire vs human, discrimination issue. Then the school setting doesnt have much importance. But Im still curious about Jo Ah Ra. Will her character developed like webtoon version, or not. If I were the scriptwriter, maybe its ok for me to erase Soo Ri, but somehow I will make Jo Ah Ra took Soo Ri's place instead. From enemy to best friend, something like that.

I have a feeling that the scriptwriter trying too hard to make this 'The Korean version of Twilight'.

btw, for HSH, I think his story will be more complicated than webtoon version. So maybe the drama doesnt need Chaerin at all. They also could take any student to replace Chaerin's role at the ending.

Did you notice in the last teaser? Maybe I was mistaken and didnt see it clearly enough, but is HSH torturing human to get their blood?

Seolhyun chooses her ideal type between her co-stars + Yeo Jin Goo describes his first impression of Seolhyun

At the recent press conference for upcoming drama KBS 'Orange Marmalade,' the stars AOA's Seolhyun and Yeo Jin Goo talked about their ideal type and each other!

A reporter asked Seolhyun whom her ideal type was between her co-stars Yeo Jin Goo and CNBLUE's Jonghyun.

She said, "I get this question a lot. I like both of them, but I can't choose a married man. Yeo Jin Goo is my ideal type."

She was referring to Jonghyun having an onscreen marriage with Gong Seung Yeon on 'We Got Married'. It makes us wonder whom she would have chosen if Jonghyun weren't a 'married man'!

When asked about their first impressions of each other, Yeo Jin Goo said, "When I first saw Seolhyun, I thought she looked very innocent. The expressions in her eyes are nice, and I was very surprised when I saw her act."

Seolhyun said, "I saw Yeo Jin Goo since he was a child actor, so I thought he was young, but in reality, he is very manly."

The first two episodes will air on May 15!

Hehe, so Im not the only one who could notice Seolhyun's eyes expressions. YJG and some other actors could see it too

he was questioning human i think in a scary way

seems like Han Si Hoo getting a major character upgrade from the webtoon

in the teaser seems that he and mari are close because the voiceover of school girls speculating whether they have a 'some' relationship

Yea. The scene when Jaemin said "as you only exist in my memories" made me think it might be possible that Ma Ri end up with HSH and moving to another place again (bad ending for Jaemin), but... idk, maybe the teaser deceived me, lol.

If theres no Chaerin, I wonder how HSH get human blood. The last teaser showed one scene when sunlight burned his skin, he must be drinking human blood like in webtoon.

Ah, I cant even do my work bcus Im so nervous/excited for tomorrow, lol

Can't wait for the first episode

I hope the acting is on point ^^

After watching  the last teaser, I feel like the 3 lead's acting are promising.

For Seolhyun, I was kinda nervous about her acting. But in the last teaser, MaRi's image is getting more clear. Her image and personality already seems different from AOA Seolhyun that we know. Her eyes expression, and the sadness in her voice. :ilove:  I've never heard Seolhyun talk like that in real. Only in few scenes in her previous drama.

I guess I'll wait for the first episode before giving more opinion, haha

[EngSub] Orange Marmalade 6 minutes highlight

http://www.viki.com/videos/1068382v-highlights?start=7

Wow. Seems like the highlight for discrimination issue is more intense here. When Ma Ri asked about where Shi Hoo is, I have a feeling that vampires have to move to another town/city immediately even if only one person know their identity. Maybe the highlight for discrimination issue could make the drama one point better than webtoon.

But still, without Soo Ri, something will be missing. Ma Ri's character development is almost perfect in webtoon, because of Soo Ri's existence :rlytearpls:

Well, I think I'll still be satisfied with the drama tho. Cant wait for tonight~

I hope the rating is good then.
I feel like the pacing was faster than the webtoon, and its just 2 episodes. What will they show in the next 10/14 ep?
Need to change some of the character info btw, lol.

the pacing are fast

mari and sihoo are best friend and sihoo knows Jaemin since they're small

Im not sure yet if Mari and Shihoo are only best friend, or theyre already engaged. Need the eng sub first, haha.

The girl with twin ponytail, is it Soo Ri?

And Jo Ah Ra, lol. Shes very smart at playing innocent, shes really dangerous. I think Gil Eun-hye also has potential to become a big actress. Shes pretty, too. The visual of the lead actors here are definitely top class

duh, that scene when Mari kissed Jaemin's neck was so hilarious, especially when the grandpa scold them.
Lol. Even tho its my 2nd time watching that, I never laughed as hard as this when watching a scene from a drama before, my stomach hurts xD

Iirc from the manhwa, weren't Ma Ri and Si Hoo engaged since they were very young due to a "shortage" of vampires?

thats what I wrote for OP, based on Shi Hoo's character description from the webtoon's wikipage, lol.

But actually in webtoon, Shi Hoo first appeared after the story already went halfway. Mari's parents and Shi Hoo's uncle planning their marriage, but actually Ma Ri and Shi Hoo didnt know each other before.

In the drama, Shi Hoo appeared since the beginning, and seems like he and Ma Ri already know each other since childhood, but Im not sure if theyre already engaged or not. Need the eng sub first xD

81% for the first episode and 36% for the second...

98% for the first ep, 84% for the 2nd now, on Viki

They progressing a little bit faster for the 2nd now, but the first ep still stuck at 98% for quite long, idk why.

Is it already complete? Its not available in my country so I cant check.

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Orange Marmalade" Episodes 1-2

photo594155.jpg

Ma-ri (played by Seolhyun) is a teenage girl who also happens to be a vampire. People in "Orange Marmalade" tend to not like vampires, what with the whole blood sucking thing and war against humanity and all that. Trying to grow up in that environment, poor Ma-ri can't even be bothered to worry about normal hassles like perverts on the...tram? Subway? What exactly is that thing they keep riding on? In an alternate vampire universe, Seoul's public transportation developed in a slightly different way?

One of the odder yet interesting points of "Orange Marmalade" is the set design. Even though the action takes place at a perfectly normal school it doesn't quite look like a normal school. There's little differences that are hard to place- the colors, the spacing of the desks, even the camerawork all manage to give the subtle impression of a world that's somewhat different from our own, even if the basics are all the same.

I haven't read the original webtoon on which "Orange Marmalade" is based, but the production definitely looks like a webtoon. Note the way the visuals tend to attract attention more strongly than the actual dialogue. Much is made of the way that Ma-ri subconsciously thinks like a vampire, even if she has enough sense to not actually try and bite anyone. Jae-min (played by Yeo Jin-goo) appears to be drawn to Ma-ri's sheer shy weirdness- which makes for a simple yet beguiling romantic premise of the popular guy who could have any girl wanting the one who eschews popularity less out of egotism and more because she's genuinely scared.

An interesting parallel that comes up along these lines is Ma-ri's love of music. From Jae-min's perspective, it's clear that this is the reason why she's shy, because like the rest of the drama, Ma-ri's musical talents feel vaguely strange and otherworldly. The result is a rather intriguing blend of atmosphere that actually ends up feeling way more important than any of the actual vampire stuff. That backstory is important and well-established, but clearly takes second priority here compared to the depth of Ma-ri's personality.

Even Ma-ri's family falls into this. Goofy dad Seung-hoon (played by Ahn Kil-kang) and elegant mom Seon-hwa (played by Yoon Ye-hee) are less vampires as they are people who appreciate humanity even as they know they must hide from it. But then, are vampires people..? That's the main dramatic thrust of "Orange Marmalade" and so far the drama's off to an intriguing start in that regard. My only complaint is that the second episode drags a bit, getting a tad too enmeshed in its own atmosphere and forgetting to actually move the plot forward all that much. Even so, the good definitely outweighs the bad so far.

I think its mainly a review for episode 1. He didnt say much about ep 2 and no Han Shi Hoo at all

the writer didn't read the webtoon so he has no idea how fast the story is moving in the drama

yup. But ep 2 was still a pilot episode tho. The highlight is the introduction for HSH, his background and her relationship with Mari and other characters.

From episode 2, I noticed there are some essential differences from webtoon version.

It could be a minor addition only to enrich the world setting, or it could be something for a major twist.
That VCS (Vampire Control System) and SPA (Sunlight Protection Ample). Those are not from webtoon.
Han Shi Hoo character also changed significantly from webtoon version.
I'll give a little bit of my thoughts about those, in spoiler.

In webtoon, vampires' weakness against sunlight only happen if they drink human blood. But here, they need that SPA.
As for VCS, few things that I understand about them:
1. Theyre organized by humans
2. Theyre the one who produced SPA
3. They know all the vampires and keep them all in track
So basically, all the vampires are under their control.

Maybe its not important at all, as this drama supposed to focus on the romance. But it could be otherwise. If yes, then it will be a major twist. I feel like HSH will do something unexpected.

And seems like Jo Ah Ra already know that Mari is a vampire, as she already found Mari's pack of blood. Seems like Han Shi Hoo already gave her a 'signal', if you noticed that. "Im also a vampire. You better dont do anything stupid"

Well, all those things make this more interesting. So far, I enjoyed this drama alot more than the webtoon

The show drama great

I absolutely love it and hope it doesn't disappoint.

There was never a boring moment and the three leads delivered.

I am anticipating the upcoming episodes

Told you, lol.

There will be more cheesy parts, as YJG already said himself. Usually, I dont like cheesy parts, but somehow I like the one in this drama. Like "Youre the only girl who can froze my time" LOL.

Jaemin, thats my line to Seolhyun :derp:

btw, OST part 3 already out. 'Afraid' by Lily M from JYP

the dream scene ahah

lol yea that was funny and unexpected. Props to the director and the scriptwriter. The drama is more enjoyable than the webtoon because of those funny scenes :chu:

Enjoying it so far

But wtf is wrong with me and my mom

We are shipping shi hoo and mari even tho they have like 0% chance.

Shi Hoo and Mari have more chemistry for now, as Mari havent developed much feelings to Jaemin.

Its hard for me to choose my favorite pairing because the girl have chemistry with both of them :chu:

But yea, the chance for Shi Hoo and Mari together is so low, unless the PD want to make a very unexpected ending

I hope that 2nd season in Joseon-era wont take too long. And I wonder whats their purpose adding that to the drama.

As for the 3rd season, if my guess is correct, then Mari and Jaemin will be separated for 6 months? Or it will be 6 months after Jaemin knows her identity and officially dating?

Well, maybe I should stop guessing too much, lol
