Some highlights of this beautifully written review:

"If we’re looking solely at commercial K-pop music over the past couple of years, the best release would probably have to be f(x)’s Pink Tape. There’s been a bunch of other excellent albums of course, but Pink Tape received critical acclaim in both the East and the West and is generally considered by idol fans as the current standard when it comes to albums from glossy girl groups."

"Hawwah, the Hebrew name for Eve, is a concept album that uses the story of Eve and the serpent to explore the still outdated perception of women as sexual beings. This isn’t entirely new territory for Ga-In: her solo music has always been ambitious and thought-provoking, addressing topics like the elusive female orgasm in “Bloom†or the pain of Ike Turner-ing a bitch in “Fxxk U."

"...Hawwah is so completely perfect and next level that literally every track is brilliant and single-worthy."

YES, this is what I'm talking about!!! Hawwah is a concept album...it revolves around a concept (and a very taboo and sensitive one at that) and she tackles on it on different perspectives, hence releasing both Apple and Paradise Lost as title tracks.  It's not just about her leg spreading and ass-shaking or that pathetic comparisons to Sunmi (I mean cmon I like Sunmi but no...just no)

The album is so cohesively arranged despite having various genres looped in. It tells a story from start to finish.

Her releases always have been thought-provoking and actually talks about something realistic (from Irreversible to Apple) but it's sad that it is dismissed by most as just going overboard sexy or slutty.

It's always nice to find reviews like this tbh

I'm an everlasting and a very biased Gain fan so ofc I would usually support her albums, though I don't fall for all her songs and albums but I admit that this album concept is A+++

It's just like you said, it's really coherently arranged and you're stunned with the contents that all revolve around that part in the bible. For exp, ppl all concluded that Apple was an explicit song where the girl just wanted to have sex with the guy while he was telling her to be less rushed but in fact Gain's part is the apple tempting Eve while Jay Park is portraying Eve in the way where she's tempted by the apple but she knows she should hide because it's the forbidden fruit and as much as the mv is all cutesty and doesn't look that deep, Gain is also the apple in it (until the end where she hides to eat the fruit), wearing that red outfit and waiting on that tree, she's pretty much the fruit. There is even that part where she plays with the car with the couple aka Adam and Eve.

This is by far one of my fav Gain's solo albums  :)

Gain released one of the best albums this year, not just talking about kpop. I am honestly in awe of her and her team. i love everything about hawwah (except the video for Apple ) and it puts Gain way ahead of every other kpop act, group or solo.
