Netizens have shown their discontent at recent comments made in an interview by a representative of Hurry Up, Brother, also known as the Chinese adaptation of popular Korean variety show Running Man.

Through an interview with Chinese news site Orient Today, a team crew member representing Hurry Up, Brother shared his opinion on the difference between the original Korean and Chinese adaption shows, giving rise to sensitive comments from netizens saying that he might have gone too far with his answers.

Hurry Up, Brother recently completed their first filming for the first episode of the show’s second season with Hangeng as one of the guests. In comparison to the first season, there has been a slight change in cast members for the upcoming new season.

When asked during the interview if there are plans to broadcast episodes weekly, a similar airing schedule that the Korean show has followed since its premiere five years ago, the Chinese representative expressed, “Of course we would hope for that to happen, but conditions do not allow for that to happen as of yet.†

He continued to explain that the popularity of the Korean cast â€” Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Gary, Song Ji Hyo, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Lee Kwang Soo, Song Joong Ki (2010-11) â€” at the time of conception, had been suffering from lost of popularity or were not yet at their top-tier positions“But our seven artists are either top-tier celebrities or those who are at the peak of their careers, so the workload cannot be put in comparison.â€

However, he acknowledged the production capabilities of the Korean crew and agreed that “there are still many aspects for us that need improvements.â€

In response to the news article, numerous netizens including supporters of either the Korean or Chinese versions or both, expressed their disapproval of the article.

One said, “Do not forget that without the seven members of ‘Running Man,’ without them working hard each week for all the tiring missions, there would not be ‘Hurry Up, Brother.'†Another commented, “Then why did you invite Kim Jong Kook? Why did you mimic the Yoo-ames Bond gun theme? And the Monday couple too? â€œ

Another person added, “The difference between ‘Running Man’ and ‘Hurry Up, Brother’ is that the latter is a group of actors gathering together and using their acting skills to entertain the viewers, but the former is a family that earnestly brings laughter and energy.â€

'at the time of conception, had been suffering from lost of popularity or were not yet at their top-tier positions'

this is unnecessary comment, tbh

Wow wtf????

The k-cast built that show from nothing and it blew up on the strength of the casts' relationships and interactions and charms, nice to see that being respected by those who are mooching off the success of those who did it first and did it better *rolls eyes*

shady but somehow true.

But still, RMkorea managed to become a  well-known show not only in korea but in other countries too, and continue being so, because of their hardwork and the chemistry even though they started from point zero. RM korea members feel like a family, you just can't help but love them and get attached to them because of their humble standings. Look at what they've become now. What the staff said could've been true, but preaching about the fame of the chinese members doesn't really prove any credit to the show imo. RMK FTW \m/

i ... really don't see what's so bad about what they said.

it doesn't seem like they meant anything malicious by their comment. i think they were just trying to answer truthfully -- that their cast includes top-billed celebrities (assuming that's true) who don't have the same flexibility as some of the RM members.

was it a little thoughtless to say that? sure. but i don't think this is particularly scandalous.

He didn't say anything wrong because it's true that when the show first started, half of the members wasn't big stars in Korea, like Kwang Soo, Gary, Jihyo, Joong Ki ... etc. They were known but not as well known as the Chinese members are but when you think about it, it's a pretty stupid and unnecessary comment to make because despite the lack of popularity of the members, they managed to be one of the most loved show in Korea and overseas and they are still "strong" after 5 years even with the ratings decreasing so more than anything, props to them  :chu:

EXACTLY HOW I FEEL !

That said, I am happy that the Chinese remake is doing well. It's amazing how much Running Man Korea achieved and yeap', I am freakin' biased and proud of them.

lol Gary was pretty popular as a member of Leessang. Leessang has been slaying charts since like 2002 or even earlier with some of their biggest hits like the man who can't break up, rush, ballerino, etc.ven before running man, Leessang was a popular hip hop group alongside Epik high and artists like Tiger Jk and Yoon Mi Rae. Joong Ki was somewhat gaining popularity during the show, but the rest really got known through running man except for Kim Jong Guk, haha, and suk Jin and yoo Jae suck.Kwang Soo and Jihyo really hit it big :)

Oops read the other part of your comment. I agree then with the exception of the MCs and I still think Leessang were hugely popular Korea wise

Leessang was popular but one of the catches was that not a lot of people knew that Gary was from Leessang when it first started. Excluding Jae Suk and Jong Kook I think it's true that most of the cast was only just gaining popularity when they started.

Yeah that's true then. Both running man and infinite challenge help gained both members individual popularity for sure

Well, Leessang is popular, but Gary himself not really well known, like dynamic duo, the group are really popular but individually they are not that known. I think he kinda admit this in Leessang's pursuit of happiness lyric

and for the bold, hope that just typo

lmao to the ignorant people saying what he said was true. you guys obviously have zero knowledge of the RM cast. just cause all you know are your oppars and unnirs doesn't mean the other people in RM are not popular before RM. like are you kidding me? Yoo Jaesuk? Kim Joongkook? Haha? all variety regulars who are popular even before RM. Gary and Jisukjin who are also popular albeit not in variety.

i'd be pissed off too if some ignorant chinese "representative" who made a remake of the show started sprouting ignorant comments about the cast they should have at least a decent amount of knowledge about.

That's exactly what I meant. And I don't understand why you got downvoted lol. Leessang was popular as a hip hop group but there is no denying that not a lot of people knew Gary as an individual member as compared to Gil who appeared in a lot of variety shows.
