I'm new to onehallyu, but I've been lurking around for awhile reading what people post about Xiumin.

Yes.. I'm very obsessed about Xiumin orz.  I like to know everything about him, what he's doing, and even like to read people's opinion about him >_<. I would like to defend and spazz about how he is everything and more, because:

However lately I'm thinking I shouldn't hold myself back, and in fact I should voice this out just to show that yes, people DO like him, and YES people find him attractive and that he DOES have a lot fans.

 

But, I like to not be too delulu, and try to be realistic deep down (I hope we can all help each other on that). I can take criticism on his singing and dancing, but don't you dare say he doesn't do his damn hardest dancing. Or that people think he's not attractive because of personal preference, but he still has his own charms (and this namja is seriously stunningly beautiful at times... like... I cannot understand... @_@, delulu?)

Ah... Did any of what I said annoy you? Um not to sound hostile or defensive, just wondering out of courtesy. I personally think exaggerating his characteristics for fun... is fun XD. Like that comic i put up.

 

But if its like the whole "Xiumin is a better dancer than Kai it said so in an article!" - which I would like to point out is FALSE... there has never been a legit source for that. But people can still spazz about his dancing, because I swear he gives his ALL performing and dancing.

 

His dancing is very strong, he's very enthusiastic, gives fanservice into his choreo, or little things here and there. HIs dancing is charismatic, and he shows it in his eyes, he connects with his audience. I've heard people say how they love how it seems like he stares straight into the camera, your camera, to the person themselves. It's like every eyebrow raise, intense eyes, and heart or kiss is meant for you, and I agree XD.

 

While these can still be somehow disputed... all I know is that everytime he always jumps his highest in wolf choreo. When there's absolutely no need to do so, when he's probably as tired as heck, when there's no one even really watching because he's in the background, or there's so much going on, he puts so much effort anyway... T_T my flying bun.

 

There's also "Xiumin is such a great singer better than so and so! He won 2nd place in everysing contest!" Again we never really saw or hear how he sang in everysing (unless there's an actual video I don't know about, tell me PLS), for all we know everybody else sucked SO BAD, and so he got 2nd place. But that doesn't mean that people can't still appreciate his singing. His voice sounds really nice and unique.

 

I swear this person's tone and pitch can change so much... just from his normal way of talking and when he plays around singing in radio shows. But that doesn't mean those things can transfer when he has to sing for the real deal. So far I find his voice really nice, soft and cute, but I feel his vocals are kinda shaky and not strong (I guess what people would say lack of breath support and vocal projection?). I don't know why but when I hear him sing live I feel nervous... like his nervousness is transfering to me XD. In the end he has potential.

 

People need to be aware of this realistically deep down. But I think its still fun to go AODIJFKDCKL XIUMIN SANG, IT WAS SO GREAT, I DIEEED. or, ZOMG DID YOU SEE WHAT HE DID THERE?? THAT MOVE *nosebleed* NAMJA TOO SEXY. I am biased, I accept and realize that, and I want to let it out how proud I am of my bb, and how he's affecting me. When it comes to serious discussions with non-fans, I try to turn that off. Though, if there's just a hater who won't listen to reason I might just go "Xiumin's too bamph for you".

 

Anyways if you don't mind I ask what the true reasons why he was brought into the group and expand on that XD.Though you have said you try to avoid talking about him... so you don't have to >_<. Yea.. can't believe the feels I'm feeling writing the past two posts..  ah.. sorry for dumping my feels/opinion here.

You don't have to apologize! I understand where you're coming from, and it may seem like I'm restraining myself but I want to let you know that you made plenty of good and fair points there, especially the second-to-last paragraph.

 

Your post didn't annoy me at all, I was self-referencing another thread from a few weeks ago, but let's not talk about that ^__^

 

tbqh I have never seen any evidence of his Everysing video but if anyone here has, please post. I am a big fan, but I have a poor memory ;__; 

 

I am using this thread to dump my feelings lol, so don't feel bad. About how Xiumin contributes to the group, I would like to think of him as a supplementary factor to EXO. Useless is a very, very strong word, and if it means anything, I'm trying to be as unbiased as possible here. What's great about him is how distinct his voice is in that you can easily recognize its trace like a fingerprint. He has a certain style of doing this, a specific face and behavior etc. that his characteristics can open him up to a niche-like fanbase, which is formulating right now. He may be only the Jack of all trades, not specifically a singer or a rapper or a dancer or an actor, but he can do it all and he does it with commitment. For a group that was intended to be large and separated into two units, I don't see why he couldn't be a strong contender among all the other rookies training for that spot.

 

What I meant earlier about exaggerating talent was... I will cheer him on for everything he tries for as an idol, but I refuse to accept a superiority complex or competitive attitude toward him by saying he's better or the best at certain things in cases where he is not. I usually become fans of idols who do particularly well in a certain field, but I'm fine with him not "excelling" in a specific talent, because he already does great. I don't know if I worded that harshly. 

 

 

If it sounds pathetic enough to somehow reaffirm that I am a big fan, there were a few times this year and last year where I'd only seen a brief video or picture of him doing a small gesture of some kind and somehow the context would make my eyes watery and I would get over-emotional. I. Can't. Figure. Out. Why. This has never happened to me in the years and years I've invested into other groups. Getting emotional over a small thing. I can't describe it and maybe something is a little off about me, but as an elephant, my compassion for a human idol I've never met has never been that sensitive, strong yes, but not sensitive. That's why I try to repress my feelings lol. I hope to deal with it in a healthier way.
