As the title said, which one do you prefer? And can you tell both pros and cons of the concerts if you have watched them? I've never been to western idol concert, the only pro and con that I know is they're singing their songs live (with live band) but the ticket is expensive af (for me). As for kpop concerts:

Pros:

1. The ticket is more pocket friendly for students.

2. The concert is usually longer than western concert.

3. The venue in my country isn't that big so you can see their faces, more when you use binoculars.

4. The fanchants are crazy for popular songs.

5. You can met strangers that into the same group as you and became friends.

Cons:

1. If you're not a hardcore fans, you might don't know some songs in the concert.

2. From concert that I've watched, they only sang live for half of the setlist (well it's okay for me since they have to dance for almost all the songs, they might faint).

Well I'll add more if I remember, but so far those are the pros and cons that I felt.

idk but it seems like kpop concerts are more on time compared to western ones, like i went to justin bieber's concert like two years ago and the show was meant to start at like 8pm but he ended up coming out at like 9pm and western concerts have no fan chants, you just have the crowd singing everything.

Is it just me or are there no oceans for western concerts?

Western artists don't do the whole lightstick thing. The closest you'll get is people start pulling out their lighters or pulling out their cell phones to use the light during a ballad song. Which I'm not even sure they'd be allowed to do the lighter thing at an indoor concert.

I remember when I went to see Pentatonix. They did a tour right after they won the singoff, so it was way before they were signed to a major record label and way before they really got big off youtube. The venue I went to was basically a bar with a stage and an open area of people to stand in (no seats). Probably like 200-300 people max.

It was a lot of fun. I'm sure they are doing bigger (theater) venues now that they do things like sell a million albums lol. But they haven't come back to my area since that concert I went to. ;__;

I went to Janelle Monae (she's known but she's not what I'd call popular) concert and she did a theater that probably fit 2,500 at most.

I've been to one stadium show (American Idol lol, so I guess that counts for Western idols), but honestly it wasn't worth it. I'm sure a bigger artist like Beyonce who puts on a big extravagant show would be worth all the money and logistical drama. But I really do prefer smaller venues.

The timeliness depends on the act; for example, Lady Gaga was 30 minutes late, Leonard Cohen was 10 minutes late (which we all forgave, given that he was 78 y.o. and we're at altitude), and the last Monkees concert I attended started on time.

You can see concerts for artists who are generally unknown in the West in smaller, more intimate venues. Meanwhile k-pop idols who aren't massively popular don't do concerts, heck you'd be lucky if they can do 'showcases' and 'fanmeetings'.

That's something I really don't get about kpop tbh, why aren't they doing more small concerts? I know plenty of French acts that are not well known at least not on a mainstream level, doing plenty of those and living off it, pretty sure some kpop acts could benefit from it tbh. Besides I'd rather see my favs in a smaller venue but then again I'm not too big on big shows.

are you saying that kpop concerts are cheaper than western concerts because that's definitely not been my experience

O_O.. kpop concerts are freaking expensive

since when Kpop idol concert is cheaper???

1. The ticket is more pocket friendly for students.

not sure about western concerts but the cost of a a kpop concert ticket here is expensive af

Ahh I see you guys confused why I said kpop concert is more cheaper than western concert. I live in the east. As a comparison, a vip ticket for snsd is 250 US dollars while taylor swift is 500 US dollars, it was held on the same venue.

not really. When I watched SJ, the concert started 1/1.5 hours late from the schedule. Smtown, snsd, and exo were late too but it was probably just around 30 minutes.

vip tickets vary a lot depending on what you get with them though

did the $500 taylor swift ticket include a m&g? how about the snsd ticket?

There was no m&g for snsd and for taylor swift, there was a vvip/premium for m&g and it cost 650 US dollar if I'm not mistaken.

you know what - i re-read your initial post and you said that you're in the east, right?

then it'd make sense for kpop acts to have more expensive tickets in the west vs. the east and vice versa

i guess most of us that answered your question are either in the americas (like me) or in europe
